I think it's a shame. This way of playing, while with impressive technique, is what musicians tend to call playing it safe. It's often about less giving God an offering and more just fulfilling a role in a service imo.
Shannon, Haven’t seen anything from you in awhile. I appreciate your music and pray that all is well with you. If you are ever in Michigan, would love to play together sometime. Blessings
For all those asking this and Breathe which I also posted recently both come from the book "I Can Only Imagine" which has a bunch of arrangements with piano accompaniment by Wiley and Winkler. A little on the spendy side but the only praise and worship solo book I have ever found with above beginner level arrangements. I should also mention that what Jerry played on piano is not exactly what is in the book, but the version in the book is still pretty good.
Shannon, Such a blessing to hear you play!! Such a pure, sweet, tone. What arrangement is this? I love the middle section that allows the trade off of the melody with the piano!
You sound amazing! If you can do you think you could do a cover of " i want to know what love is" by foreigner? That would be amazing and I know with your tone it will be godly
***** I have been playing for about 15 years now. I taught myself on alto when I was in 4th grade (9 years old) and picked up soprano 4 years later when I started 8th grade. I have had so many people ask me how I get my sound. There are so many elements. One is picking a mouthpiece with a "dark" sound (I use a selmer C* for songs like this, and a much brighter yanigasawa 5 metal mouthpiece for a harsher sound) but the rest is just years and years of practice and listening to saxophone players that I like. I'll add "I want to know what love is" to my ever growing list of requests.
Very good and special soprano saxophone
It is so very pleasant to hear religious music absent of all the riffs and licks of jazz.
