It really shows some great maturity in this show that it doesn’t redeem Modine. The entire time I was hoping El wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of saying that she understood, and I was pleasantly surprised when she didn’t.
Seeing Will show Mike the painting that he made, describing it and trying to admit to his best friend how he feels about him... felt too real to me, I cried. Very relatable. Also, great acting by both Noah and Will. ❤️ That Modine shirt... for the Papa episode, and then seeing his character die. Jay, I could hug you! ❤️
@Jeff Erckert exactly it's not great will fell for mike since mike is with el but it's clear mike was always will's friend that went above and beyond in his care for will one of the main reasons why mike seemed to be the leader is because he cared the most/wanted to do ANYTHING to get will back not saying the others didn't either but it was far less urgent and upsetting for them in comparison to mike in season two mike and will are attached at the hip and even when will was even a little quiet mike would pick up on it and tell him it's okay even holding hand and paying special attention to him whilst the other guys kind of did their own things mike was with will the whole time in the hospital when he was there and even in the ~mysterious room~ they made so they didn't give the mindflayer their location will was the only one of will's friends there pleading for him to remember him and when they first met and how happy it made mike felt bc will was mike's first friend mike may not feel that way, i don't know his sexuality (but he's with el regardless) but he always made will feel special and was the main one to do so outside of will's family so it's very natural will felt that way about him if he is gay a lot of childhood friends end up having romantic feelings whether it's reciprocated or not some don't but it's a fairly common thing and will not having many people in his life outside of his family or anybody he can really tell all this crazy stuff to (because lets be honest, not many people will believe him and he and el are the most traumatized and directly involved out of the bunch) it's what would happen i think season 3 definitely cemented will's feelings because he got especially bothered when mike didn't pay attention to him in comparison to any of his other friends (like lucas had a girlfriend too, and dustin kind of had a whole adventure without the boys but he mostly was just upset at mike) so yeah, as much as i think will should maybe date someone else who will reciprocate fully like he needs this whole byler thing has been building for quite a while the duffers didn't wake up one day and said 'let's be cruel and make will care for mike randomly in season 4' it's been there
Its a very relatable, and not a duplicate. Theres a difference between liking a straight person and your straight best friend. You always worry how it will affect your friendship. Speaking as someone who has ONLY had crushes on my straight best friends, its really hard and loved this scene

Coming out to him was a lot harder than coming out to my other friends or even my family. I was honestly afraid of losing my best friend if I did come out, and I remember bursting out in tears and crying on his shoulder when I did. Fastforward 10 years later, and we're still very close, and I can openly talk to him about anything now. :)

I thought I couldn't be more excited to watch yall cry (react) to this, but the modine t-shirt reveal....was amazing and somehow made me reach a level of happiness unbeknownst to man.
I keep having to remind people that the plot thread with Hopper, Joyce, and Murray is taking place in The Soviet Union, which was a whole different ball of wax from Russia.
Often, when a male character talks about how many kids he wants, it’s clear to a certain percentage of the audience that the character means he wants his future wife to do 99% of the work raising them so he can step in for the 1% weekend stuff that’s fun. So I liked that the narrative brings up how much time Steve has spent being a really good (for lack of a better term) babysitter. He takes responsibility and an active role, and he’s learned the necessity of doing work that doesn’t get “rewards” or recognition. I think Steve would actually be a good dad and partner.
This entire season has been leading up to Adam covering up the N in Modine, everything from episode 1 to episode 8 (But especially Jay's T-Shirt reveal) has been leading up to that moment
I love how “Star Wars” this episode was. From El’s X-Wing moment, to Modine’s Yoda moment of “She is not ready”, to the New Hope-style raid of the base, it was awesome

The last episode broke me. No spoilers, but, OMG! I can understand why there's a time jump for season 5 and the potential talk of time travel... It will be necessary.
Will giving Mike that emotional support while secretly crying because he can't be open himself about his true feelings is my villain origin story. He's always been someone who puts everyone else's needs before himself. But it always makes him unhappy. Will should get to tell Mike. He should get to be happy. I have never felt more conflicted watching a character in this show than with this guy. He did bad. But even despite the bumps along the way, El still cried when she saw him bleeding out. Despite everything, they had a bond. A strange bond, but a bond nonetheless. And he let her go.
I also want Will to be happy at the end of this, but would telling Mike really accomplish that? I don't know but considering the best that can happen is a rejection, unfortunately it's one of those things where it may be best to not say anything and try to move on and find someone who will reciprocate those feelings. Eh, life is messy!
