most high milage oils have a higher zddp content, an additive which was reduced in newer oils for catalyst concerns. that said zddp is excellent for camshaft journals and lobes, bucket lifters, basically any wear surface in the engine. i use gtx high milage in my older car, havent had any cat issues, and it still runs pretty good considering i bag the living piss out of it every single day...

The better solution for those of us who are mechanically inclined (such as myself), is to simply get rid of the damned catalytic converter. I took the catalytic converter off my truck and kept the muffler and my stack. It's comforting to know I'm damaging the environment as I drive!
Castrol GTX High Mileage is great oil though. My truck gets even MORE power with it!!!

+GREATSWORD1000 You're probably sick in head from breathing in all of your truck's exhaust. I used to have a neighbor like you. The fool thinks he is cute and always crying for attention. LOL

Your a genius. I'm not really big in the environment cause with lawyers like Gore getting rich. I never thought about this. This would probably help my gas mileage a lot. I'm wondering if this would throw in any codes, and how would it pass emissions. I'm no mechanic.

Depends what vehicle you are driving. If you have an older truck you can easily remove the catalytic converter(s), but only if it's not already a catalyst equipped vehicle. An EFI motor with OBD2 or newer will need a reflash or a "performance" chip to help it run afterwards. On my 1999 F-150 I kept the cats because I wasn't willing to get a "performance" chip in it. On both my 1984 F-150 and my 1994 GMC K-1500, I got rid of the cats and both trucks run better.

What's the difference between this and synthetic Castrol edge high mileage? Is that way better?

Ari Koenig There are more additives in the edge high mileage. It’s classified as an Advanced Full Synthetic while the GTX High Mileage is classified a Full Synthetic.

I compared the high mileage oils together and the phosphorus is the same as other high mileage oils. All the claims by this Castrol add are false. Pennzoil high mileage is the best. It has a lot that helps your engine to not have a dry start.
