Hi, i am planning to travel to Paris and Switzerland with my 3year old child. Can you kindly let me know if car seat is mandatory even to travel by cabs. If yes then are taxis available there with car seats.
I visited Switzerland in May 2019 with my sister who passed away 3 years ago. It was a group tour by SOTC. We stayed at 3 hotels, 2 nights in each hotel. The rooms in all three hotels were quite spacious & comfortable. Our visit to Mt. Titlis and Jungfrau were a bit disappointing because of the weather conditions, there was heavy mist, so we could not see much. Visit to Zermatt/Matterhorn was a great experience, the weather was perfect, there was sunshine. Thanks to the clear weather we had perfect view of Mt. Matterhorn and the Swiss Alps, it was wonderful and memorable. For dinner we had wonderful Indian food but had to manage somehow for lunch, however the buffet breakfast at all three hotel was sumptuous so we didn't feel very hungry at lunch time. All the vegetables we ate whether for lunch or dinner were very flavourful, the reason for this is because all farming in Switzerland is organic. We found the people there to be very friendly, contrary to what you described. My sister who knew German sometimes spoke to them in German, this seemed to thrill them and make them happy 😊. Of course this is applicable only in the German speaking parts of the country. Of all the places we visited in Switzerland one place stood out, this Chatâux D'oex. It is a beautiful place with mountains all around, it is actually a country side. There we stayed at a chalet style hotel, the room was very well furnished and super comfortable 👌 There is lots to see and experience in Switzerland, I wish I could go there again.
Wonderful and comprehensive video.! Just a little tip about hotels, you can even stay in an AirBnB, which would be cheaper than a hotel...They are apartments and a small group can stay together, depending on the number of rooms...You pay the price per night for the apartments, rather than per room... They are clean and cozy...I just returned from Lucerne in August, which is a peak season...I traveled solo and paid a total of 175 swiss franks for 3 nights (around 59 franks per night), and it was super comfortable with a separate kitchen, where I could cook my own meal if I wanted to...
Actually it doesn’t have a name because usually AirBnBs are owned by private individuals…But the name of the owner was Reina and it is in Pilatusblick in Lucerne…My AirBnB was meant for 1 person…however, you could easily find AirBnBs that can accomate a family or group on their website
The best video I have listened to. You've explained everything in simple manner. Lots of information which are very useful for first timers to visit the country. Thank you 🙏
Indian food is very costly in any restaurant in Switzerland. Back in August 2014 I stayed in hotel Ramada in Engelberg for a night. For my dinner I ordered 2 Naan and a plate of butter chicken . That costed me around 23 franc.
You have well documented for Switzerland, great coverage on Coop and Migros only one addition which I visited in March 2024 so in Coop n Migros you can get a 1.5 liter of Still water (normal) water for as low as 0.35 CHF only you have to ask the counter person as it is available in some outlets not in all, for example in Lucerne station and in Interlaken near the West station and in Zurich HB Migros station counter, thanks for your video

Hello Arihant. Very informative video it was. I have a small query. I already have shengen visa issue by Netherlands on this basis can I visit Switzerland as first country of entry? You mentioned half-fare card is cheaper than the swiss pass. But if we stay for 4 days and have to buy the half fare card everyday, wouldn't the cost be same as that of the swiss pass? Plus with the half rate card, you can only redeem 50% of the ticket cost, while with swiss pass, its absolutely free
Half fare card is valid for a month. Swiss pass cost is double of half fare. If you plan to travel a lot and the cost of tickets + half fare card exceeds 250 francs then its better to buy swiss pass

Can I carry one electric rice cooker?? Along with 5 kg rice??
I am not very sure about this. We carried rice cooker and rice when we went to Germany but I haven’t taken it to Switzerland
