My favorite part of this whole scene was when Mrs. Hughes puts the seaside postcard on the board. Especially when she stands on her tipy-toes to make sure it's at Carson's eye level.
To be honest, every site Mr. Carson offered were interesting enough to me. Then again, a lot of the working class at the time didn't get much chance to visit the beach, so to them it looks more excitement
It was there first day off for a pretty long time 😏
Hahaha...yes. I would pick any of these places above a day on the beach. Unless maybe it's a nice tropical beach or something.
The beach is fun for most people. Museums are fun for people into that sort of thing. He wasn’t thinking of others but only from his perspective.
it's the freedom and the open air. Imagine being in Downton Abbey working hard in that kitchen and below stairs, in the dark and the smoke and the confined spaces all your days and then being offered the same - the museums, the closed rooms, the controlled atmosphere as a reward. By the seaside any old time for me.
Honestly, I thought Mr. Molesley would have enjoyed the more informational/historical sites considering he's a well read man.
But personally, I liked all of Mr. Carson's suggestions. Especially the natural history museum. But I frequently walk by the sea, and it feels really peaceful, calming, and freeing, which I gather the servants would prefer a bit more after a long period of working overtime.
I'm sure quite a few would've enjoyed going out to all those other places on their own time, so they can go at their own pace though.
The shot at 4:14 of Hughes and Carson standing in the tide hand-in-hand is a moment in television history.
"You can always hold my hand feel a bit steady."
"You make that sound risque'."
😃
"You can always hold my hand if you need to feel steady"-... Mr and Mrs Carson ❤❤
I hope everyone finds someone like that.
“…and this a…fun day as a thank you, is it?”
Mrs. Hughes’ style of shade is much more subtle than Violets’ but it’s shade nonetheless, more like eyebrow raising, ‘hint-hint’ shade 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love how Carson is such a nerd.
“You can always hold my hand if you need to feel steady.”
I adore that scene🥹☺️❤.
He’s worried about his trousers and her skirts are practically in the water!😆 I do so miss this show. Trying not to feel teary.
it was so funny to me that Mr. Carson, who could run a grand house with a sharp eye for detail, never noticed how much Mrs. Hughes loved him. But as she said "Thank Heaven you got there in the end" 🤣
Pompos old twit was still living in
The 1860s with the Dowager.
You sometimes notice this with people at work, when they talk to each other, they sound like they're married for years even though they're not. But when you've worked together for 17, 20 years or more, some colleagues may even know each other better than their own spouses.
Hand in hand they walked on the shore. Honestly, mrs hughes and mr Carson are so cute 🥰
If these two were any more perfect for each other, it would be illegal.
This reminded me that Carson is a Victorian through and thorough 😂😂😂
It wouldn't surprise me if Mr. Carson went on Ancestry and discovered he's related to Prince Albert. The look on his face would be priceless. Carson related to a German Prince, now that's a side drama if there ever was one. 😱🤣😱🤣😱🤣
Didn’t see this coming from Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes but ended up being my favorite scene.
Other way around for me . I spent the first 5 seasons shipping them like crazy . In season 6 I was hoping she d bash his skull and escape
There will never be another show like Downton Abbey 💚
I love how carefree and happy Mrs Hughes is at the beach 💜
Aw, it's like watching your parent go on a date.
Elise just wanted to take Charlie to the beach. 🙂
I remember when I saw this episode! I thought this scene was so beautifully written and perform. I felt the goosebumps
Oh noooo we didn't get to see Mrs Hughes put up the post card! But ah well, they got there in the end ;) 3:18 brings me more joy than I can put into words. Chelsie fans rejoice!
I love Carson standing in the water, moaning about his Trousers getting Wet 😂😂😂😂
It soothed my heart when she ssid, we'll just dry them.
I like that. A beach idea was the best. Not everyone enthused on his his suggestions of history and culture. Their risque charm toward one another was interesting.
Awwhh they are so sweet ❤️😭
We can afford to live a little ❤️ love these two
To be fair I liked Carson's ideas.
Right? It's pitty they only had one day off, because it would be great to go to all places
Me too, but I'm a museum girl by nature and to be honest, what Mr. Carson suggested would be more than likely my first two days in London, Paris, New York, etc
Them two are so adorable. Nearly as romantic as bates and anna
So darling together.
And then she said yes and he became a complete jerk
@@marionarda2790 yeah, not going for it.
LOVELY ENDING SCENE
I loved this scene
1.34 Thomas ( or the actor ) trying to not laugh
Most of the options he offered would have been really exciting to Mosely and Daisy, it feels like their reactions were done to match the intended scene, and not what the characters would actually do.
With Mr. Carson being out of his element, there wasn't much of a chance of there being a quiz, after a day at the beach! I cried at the end of this episode.
I love their story.
How funny is Ms Hughes to tell Mr. Carson to share his fun day idea with the staff. Couldn’t stop laughing…yes I could imagine the staff having a wonderful time at the museum as staff appreciation day. Lol
It's Mrs Hughes not ms. That ridiculous me didn't thankfully exist in those days. There are only three titles. Mr ,Mrs and miss. No more no less.
Such a nice scene. Makes it extra special with Valentine's Day coming up. 🥰💗
😍 loved it
¡So lovely!
To be honest carson's ideas were great!
Especially at the time, schouldnt be a science museum more interesting than a beach?
hell no
They were servants who spend most of their time at work. Of course they would prefer to go outside, get some sun and have fun at the beach rather than visit museums. In a museum you have to use your brain and make an effort to understand and admire paintings etc. On the beach you can just relax and chill. However, I do agree that Carson's ideas were brilliant
Not for servants that don´t live near a beach. They didn´t have the chance of going to the seaside. Even though the same could be said about the museums, most of them wouldn´t enjoy it. I think only Carson and Mosely would have fun.
Try to work without any weekend for a couple of years. May be you’ll understand..
@@maryangelaforgione6961 Even Moseley looked pretty disappointed by the suggestions.
Please. It was not Carson, but Mrs. Hughes who did it all. You may not see the strings that go from her fingers to Carson, but she is the subtle but powerful puppeteer, she runs the guy who runs the rest.
☺️💚
The fuzzies.
Doctor fusu 's whole clan is downtown Abbey 🏠
CHELSIE FOREVERRR
Mr. Carson thought they'd want to dress up and just go and stare at art for fun!? After working for the whole day .. for lengthy numbers of months?! Well .. he is sure uptight ..
I would not have Mrs Hughes wits to direct him .. I would just said it to his face. Of course, they want to find a place where they can relax .. forget their work and who they are .. and just be
I felt their dread when he was sharing his suggestions .. it is sad that none of them could say a word .. or suggest a place themselves. It is as if the idea has to be Mr. Carson's
Why do the staff, who have probably never had the opportunity to see the sights in London, all to a manlook like Carson took a dump in their oatmeal with his reasonable suggestions. I understand the joke is to make him look like an out of touch fuddy duddy, but not one of them wants to go see Westminster Abbey, or Madam Tussaud's and would prefer to go to an English beach of all places?
