That is one big band with six banjos and two accordions in front. The captain going over to the side, making friends with the little guy, and their picture being taken is just what you want from a string band.

Colorful show. Well-known music. The buildings are impressive. Very enjoyable.....Taking my mind off the chocking smoke coming in from a fire in Bibra Lake, Perth WA. Hope not deliberately lit. Rosa Larsen
I'm a real "newbie" to string bands, music, marching & costumes! Are the musicians professionals? Or simply great personal players? Great music. Watching these units really gives me a boost; most every day!
Hi Richard, All amateurs. We all have day gigs. That's not to say that some of us make a little cash playing, but in our band there's only 2 or 3 that we could say are pro's. We do have some members that are music educators as well. Most have played in their HS bands, and this is a way to keep playing.
From South Africa: I "stumbled" onto your RUclips videos. I love love love it. I grew up with Coon carnivals in Cape Town on 02 January and I know the excitement. I love watching marching groups especially USA. Musically you guys are on another level. We'll done and thanks also for the music selections. I'm also a fan of the Broadway musicals.
Let's see now, on a scale would you chose some of the stuff that Beyonce, for example, puts out or this terrific stuff? Easy answer. Love the Mummering.
Hi Bill, it depends whether you play an instrument or not. We do have a music test for musicians on our instrumentation. We have openings for non players as well which is easy. Fill out out an application and be accepted by the membership. We have dues and other financial obligations for all members.
@@jakmummer Thank you for the information. The sound is amazing, The music is upbeat and I like the way you all March in step. I only found out about QCSB and the mummers day parade because my son recently moved to Philly. And he thought I might be interested. I'm and ole Drum corps guy. Drumline. Do QCSB have any summer parades scheduled in Philly? And are your rehearsals open to the public or private?
@@billespo1064 Hi Bill, not a problem if you wanted to check out a rehearsal. Good to know about your drum corps experience. We have some "Ole" DC guys in our organization as well. I marched with Reading Buccaneers in the front ensemble and I'm the judging coordinator for Cavalcade of Bands. Another one of our guys currently writes for some WGI and HS groups. He also marched Crown and wrote for Crossmen a few years back. We also have another guy who was with Crossmen in the early 90's. Alot of our judges are from DCI/DCA/WGI and various HS circuits. While we're a little heavy with percussion performers right now you could check it out and see if it's for you. We have a concert at the Mummers Museum on 04/17 and then a large event/parade in Haddon Twp NJ where all the bands will be performing. Let me know if you want to check thing out and we can connect further.
Costumes... perfect😊 Music... perfect.
I wished, we had a band like this in Germany.

Fantastic group, costumes are spectacular. But what a dirty city, broken curbing, trash everywhere, sad as it is really the birth place of the nation.
