I've always skipped the Maxx cartoon on TV, I don't know why, but it wasn't for me at that time.... but I do own and love of course the comics, which I've later bought
I was looking for an excuse to buy another huge books and then I remembered your video, so here I am again. Guess what I'm going to do next.... :) I mean, I was feeling sorry for my Kelley Jones Gallery edition, because it's feeling lonely haha. Thanks again for this excellent video. 3:35 Right off the bat.... :)
bill crabtree For whatever reason I always really dug the early Sam Kieth Sandman. Really creepy and weird. I guess I've always liked the more off-kilter stuff though.
you're right, but I was one of the latecomers who picked up Sandman after it was finished. Therefore I expected something more (or better: different) than an horror story and was at least surprised about the start.
I'm a big Sam Kieth fan, but I've never really read any of his Batman stuff. I definitely can't afford this, but are there any cheaper editions of his Batman work available for a more modest price?
Batman-secrets is definitely available as a trade, maybe out of print, but it can't be too difficult to find it for cover price or less... Batman-ghost was collected as a trade as well, I believe... and "through the looking glass"... well you saw that little hardcover in the vid (I don't know if I can recommend it, because that story is just plein weird).
My copy will arrive tomorrow. Being an elitist snob I had to go with the signed slipcase. It takes longer to arrive but it gives me a great sense of superiority... Just kidding, but I love signed, limited, slipcase books. They are my weakness. Are there any artist edition type books that you wanted but couldn't get in Germany? Also, new Eric Haven book comes out this week. Compulsive Comics by Fantagraphics. Not sure if there will be any Ragnacock though.
the Compulsive Comics have been so often delayed over the last year that I won't believe it this time until I eventually have them in my hands. I'm rather not the signature guy... even though I can understand the appeal it has for many people, but I'm more like: don't smear on my cover, you brute! And thanks, the big books, artist editions etc. are almost always available over here... even though without the huge discounts you enjoy in the US sometimes. If you can't get sth here it's usually smaller stuff, like single issues or magazines.
ah I've found it... thanks, let's see if there will be some other bidders (hopefully not)... sorry that I deleted your last comment, but I hope you're fine with it. I'm a bit paranoid since someone outbid me on an auction & guess where he got his info from? my own channel... dammit :/ (even though it's funny to see how small our bubble actually is) ... but when I'll need help with my "project" I would be very pleased if I can as you if I need some assistance, thanks in advance.
I understand completely. I once sent an item to a "friend" asking him if he thought it was a good price and he went and bought it out from under me. If you want me to bid for you or help with shipping just let me know.
Some friend! The American Ebay works very well via the German Ebay, thanks very much, but I'll definitely ask again, when I have problems ... and if I can be of any help for you, don't hesitate to ask.
I would just make sure they accept bids from Germany. I did some research and no other deals like that have come up in the last 3 months, I think it is worth it at double the asking price, maybe more.
I love these editions... but in terms of the batman ones so far (Kelley Jones, Frank Miller, Sam Keith) only the dark knight returns was an obvious choice.
Prost! Sam Kieth's art looks amazing in this format! And how you describe his style of art makes it even more intriguing. I never owned/read Secrets so this would be a great opportunity to read it at all. When it's still available next month for a reasonable price I'll pick it up. Thank you! (I just picked up Soulwind by Onipress. It was OOP for forever. Beautiful cloth-bound HC and an amazing comic. Did you read it?)
prost thanks... never thought that alcohol free flensburger would have so much fizz in it. that soulwindbook looks really nice... but I don't think that neither the art nor story premise would justify a blind buy for me.
You opened the bottle like it was a ship christening only that the ship is a book. Similar size in this case at least. I blind bought it from Buecher.de with a price error and discount code for just 23 EUR and they delivered. It's strange at first and the artistic style shifts but in the end all comes together and I felt like I need to read it just again. I hope one day you find it for dirt cheap and panellogy it. Curious about what you would take out of it.
ha! at first I was thinking you talk about the gallery ed. & I went: wtf für 23,- !? :) but okay... soulwind... yeah.... buecher dot de has it right now for 40 Euros, so ......
I have been a fan of Sam Kieth for 20 years it all started when I saw The Maxx cartoon on Mtv.

Congrats on the purchase. That's one fine book.

Blue G where did you purchase this book and was it less expensive?
I like this review. You have just gained a new subscriber.
Excellent Enjoyable Video. Thank You for Posting and Sharing.
I think perhaps sandman had a more horror/ etc tone at the outset.

Sam Keith did a book about Arkham that I have.so glad to see this, thanks! May I suggest to you Tim vigil
Tim Vigil rocks
Great channel.
grazie
Looks freaking awesome. I don't have a TV now, but that's okay. The stuff on Earl Grey 's channel is almost always better.
write that again & I charge fees :)
thank you.

Never really liked Sam Keith tbh but this looks really nice. Everyone's getting on the Artists Edition thing nowadays aren't they?
