Just sublime. Christina, your handling of color and brushwork is beyond. The curation of subject matter is poetic and has a lingering effect. I'll be thinking about the guy on his bike and his journey into the night for the rest of the day!
Such an interesting topic , the paintings look very interesting and beautiful . I liked especially 9,12,13,15,16 difficult choice . They all have such a kind of 'movie' vibe which is awesome . I really like how you captured these scenes and used colour scheme . Good luck with the exhibition .
Really stunning and cozy snapshots 😊 your love for your city really comes through, and your ability to make such soft representations of structures and people still feel so vivid and detailed is wonderful ❤ you’re one of those people who reminds me why people make a life’s pursuit out of art and art studies 😊 👏 a quick edit to say congrats for the new show!!
Number 7 is my favorite. I really see the darkness coming soon. Number 14.....its a great painting, the idea of painting that is magnificent. It made me feel unsure if i should go passed the car, that is waiting for something, or turn around and run.
It's great to see that you're keeping things going in Hopper Land!! Each pic feels like the first line of a story. I'm especially drawn to the bike pics, and to the gal preparing a meal with her back to us.
Awesome paintings! I love Nocturnes and twilight paintings. I feel like they have been underrated? For some reason?🤔. I've wanted to do this sort of project in my own city. The feeling of driving home at night. I think #7 or #9 are my favorites. Really great job!
Love love love number 13 ❤ I think you have a similiar style to Michael Chamberlain and I love his style a lot. One of his seascapes hangs in my living room. He also paints cityscapes and landscapes, sometimes in san Francisco. Love those street corner paintings both of you do so well. ❤
Thank you! I've painted with Michael before, he's a great person and painter :) Glad to hear you have some of his work! We also show at the same gallery (Studio Gallery) here in San Francisco.
@@christinakentart That's amazing! If I lived anywhere near San Francisco I'd visit the Gallery for sure. But since I'm in Germany I will only visit online. :-)
My fav: #13. I like the warmth, and the intimate glimpse into this moment of the server's day. These remind me of Hopper's work for sure, like the classic 'Nighthawks'. Have you explored Edouard Cortes works? He painted Paris in the evening during the years of transition from horse-drawn carriages to automobiles.
This is a lovely series, Christina. It always fills me with joy to see how much you are thriving and growing as an artist. On tiny quest: what is the blue stuff at the edges of your canvas? I suppose you use wood boards? Is it tape? Do you take it off when the painting is done?
Thanks Annek! Yes, it’s tape, and I remove it once the painting is done. These panels have natural wood edges, and I tape them off to preserve the look of the wood.
Your brushwork, technique, and vision, is amazing, and everything that I'm not. Edward Hopper is probably my biggest influence, but my paintings feel rigid and over-thought compared to your fluid , intuitive, and soulful little masterpieces.
Thanks for your interest in that piece - it has sold, however #7 and #9 are still available for $460 each if you are interested. You can find more information about the pieces here: www.christinakentart.com/nightinthecity
I usually don’t, unless I want to paint their portrait. I take photos of people in public places, and I simplify details, so I don’t think the people are easily identifiable. I’m not an expert on the legality of these things though, so I would recommend talking to a lawyer if you are concerned. And if someone saw me taking a photo of them and asked me to delete it, I would respect their wishes.
Love love love the mood, ambiance, soft light and shadow...you capture so well my own heart and romance with the City.
Thank you so much!

Such sensitive and beautiful work. A wonderful combination of soft and hard focus. Very inspiring. 😍

I am left handed too😃

Are you still working with the studio gallery. I made a painting for Scott Chamberlain. It's still on my wall
Do you need to ask/tell someone you're going to photograph them for a painting?
