If you need a gigging keyboard with bells and whistles that's the one! Bonus: 1,106 MOTIF voices and full integration to Cubase if you like doing studio work. Only 10 pounds to carry around.
To "Michael Williams": You can do both: 1) The Yamaha MX61 has 1,000 internal sounds. So, you can "hook it in to an amp and go live."; and 2) The MX61 has an USB/MIDI port on the back. You can connect the MX61 to a computer via the included USB/MIDI cable. And once you load the included AI6 software onto your computer, you can record your MX61 sounds and sequences into your computer. It is an AWESOME machine! I just recommended this keyboard to my brother...and I will probably get one (1) for myself, too! I hope that this helps. Peace
I'm getting the Yam KX61 Tomorrow, and I love it, probably end up next year with the MX61 that comes with sounds and that would be it, I will not have a whole lot of equipment like before, Reasons and Protools is all I need
Finally a demo where someone just shuts the fuck up and plays the goddamn machine. God I feel patronized watching half these demo videos on RUclips as if I'm too fucking dumb of a person to realize that the big knob changes the patches.
The pianos sounds horrible in mono, but in stereo it sounds stellar. The stereo FX really make it sing. The drum patches are perfect for variety performance and splitting the keys with bass patch on bottom and piano on top while playing drum patches in the background work really well for the live solo act guys. Light as a feather with few problems. The keyboard does cut out one channel sometimes and I have to shut it off and on again to restore both audio channels. Otherwise, no complaints except for the unweighted feel of the keys. My other Yammy is full weighted and my Nord is semi, so it's a difference in feel. The low output does suck, but somebody mentioned an update that is downloadable?
Got this dude in the lay-a-way now! Can't wait! Question: If you mess your sound up -live and want to quickly go back to it's original sound, is there a quick button for that too?
I own the MX88 and a MX49. Is there anyway to delete all the performances that come with the keyboard so I can start at 001 saving my own? Is there any parameter that can be set to switch the keyboard from poly to monophonic? If I use the MX49 for L hand bass, it would be a better set up in monophonic using the ADSR. I used to own a Yamaha CS-5 synth and the bass was nice.
uhmmm, as far as I know, the keyboard was connected to my Onyx 1640i and goes straight to the digital recorder synched to video camera; maybe there was some cables swapping between keybd and mixer?
i HAVE BOTH AND PLAY IN A FIVE OIECE BLUES AND R&B Bnd, you can hear these live at george barner with the lee franklin express on you tube. I use the kotg for organ sounds and violin sections, does great layering by the way, and use the mx 61 for piano keyboards and any synbc sounds I need, we do a lot of 80s stuff like steely dan and boz scaggs and a lot of up tempo blues. The only thing I hate about the mx 61 is that it looks so cheap and is made that way also, not happy at all with the build, and should have done the case in a unique color, as far as sound, it does what it needs to and is easy to operate and setup. If uyou can find someone who knows how to set these workstations up, you can learn more in an hour than trying to read online manuals. the y are getting way to technical for the average musician out there plsying, we havebt got time between songs to setup so many perameters, so on stage it is limited to how well you have grasp operating proceedures, and by the way, I like the korg sounds and build. hope I helped you out. You csn sldo hear us at tle lee franklin express on youtube. I am Lee
This is from a year ago, but FYI, I have both. The MX49 which I use for a controller, the piano sounds are better, well it's a motif, you're getting the sounds uncompromised from a Motif. It's bare bones strictly performance but the way they structured it with the DAW it goes way beyond, so use this with a laptop and it's endless. The Kross is an all in one 16 track with 2 tracks audio, the sounds are ok and are off the Kronos but compressed and not as full as you'd get with a $4,000 Kronos.
Que bello teclado aunq no se mucho pero yo soy cantante solista alguien me puede ayudar cual es mejor el psrs670 o este mx61 que por sierto suena increible segun el video
I wish manufacturer features would stop referring to "semi weighted" keys when they should stick with "standard spring tensioned synth keys". THIS BOARD HAS NOTHING IN COMMON WITH A WEIGHTED KEY ASSEMBLY
TheMusikI Yeah but if you have a stage piano too like P-155 or P4 then you can use the weighted keys of the stage piano with the sounds of the MX by MIDI.
No since it doesn't have body speakers so have to use some kind if a speaker to listen to it but if you want you can definitely use headphones but then only and only you will be able to hear it..... hope this helps 😇
Adam Paul I ended up buying the MX49, purely because of how portable it is. I won’t get it until the end of next month or start of August due to the borders still being closed. But am looking forward to it.
It seems like a fine choice to me Nick. It looks like you can get a lot of cool sounds out of this Yamaha. Pretty cool that you can patch your IOS devices directly in the board!
On performance number 41. One side of the split is completely silent, and no sound is heard. What has been done ? and how to activate the the silent part so it be heard? Appreciate the help
I noticed at 4.36 you pan hard right and the sound went to the left and vise versa ? What did you use to video record this demo and how you mix the sound ? Many thanks great demo
Mando Alverez, no you can not. alot of Synthisizers, I believe almost all of them require either a pair of headphones, speakers or other audio playing device. Most synths are full of alot of tech so it does not have the power to house its own speakers....
One other thing, the keys feel cheap and crappy, very lousy response, these are so far away from weighted keys that it isnt funny. Even casio has better feel and control on their new keyboards, upper end models. I really hate the look and cheap ass case, its just so backward looking. they should have worked the keys over, and made it more substantial, if I could send it back, it would be gone.

Thank you! Now i’m sure about buy this keyboard

Great! i have Mox6 but im looking for not workstation and this looks good, Pd. i love the arpegio in the 0:16 like Chucho Valdes.

Como guardar y encontrar los sonidos selecionados a gusto de uno ?
this isnt important but those finger rolls in the beginning were sick
Joshua Hurt Sweater guy kills it in this! Next level!
Thanks for the demo.

Thanks for the demo on the panel. Educational at least to observe.
Nice
Interessante, mi piacerebbe ascoltare un demo dei preset migliori delle varie categorie di strumenti. Grazie.

Does this keyboard's piano sounds have that annoying ringing after tones? I hope not
Does anyone know if the MX arpeggiators are fully programmable?
Does it have a multi track sequencer?
uhmmm, as far as I know, the keyboard was connected to my Onyx 1640i and goes straight to the digital recorder synched to video camera; maybe there was some cables swapping between keybd and mixer?
I'm looking at a Korg Kross AND Yamaha MX61. I don't know which one to get. Damn! They both sound good! Any suggestions?😫
MX61 in your case I went for MX49

I did play a MX61 at a Sam Ash and it DID feel kinda' cheap. Haven't try the korg yet.
I like the sounds of the MX61 better but the functions of the Kross is better

Thank you that Help me so much
can you save a 16 part performance?
How do you store a patch in Yamaha MX 61?
If I hold on to the sustain pedal, does the sound stop when I switch between different patches just like the MO8?
If you are switching between two of the currently selected voices it doesn't.
I wish manufacturer features would stop referring to "semi weighted" keys when they should stick with "standard spring tensioned synth keys". THIS BOARD HAS NOTHING IN COMMON WITH A WEIGHTED KEY ASSEMBLY
TheMusikI True I had the Akai weighted keys felt great but the functions were not cool for Reasons completely.
TheMusikI Yeah but if you have a stage piano too like P-155 or P4 then you can use the weighted keys of the stage piano with the sounds of the MX by MIDI.
what is the source of that arp at the beginning of your vids?
Can you loop sample ?!
Nice sweater
eibgalera algum video de como editar os timbres do mx61?
Can I use this without being hooked up to any speakers or amps?
No since it doesn't have body speakers so have to use some kind if a speaker to listen to it but if you want you can definitely use headphones but then only and only you will be able to hear it..... hope this helps 😇
Does MX61 have transpose buttons?
yes
Octave too.
I’m deciding between the Yamaha mx61, Yamaha mx49, Casio CT-X5000 or the Korg Kross 2.
Which would be the best keyboard for live use (church) ?
I'm in the same situation. Can't give you much insight. I want either the Mx61 or Kross 2
Adam Paul
I ended up buying the MX49, purely because of how portable it is.
I won’t get it until the end of next month or start of August due to the borders still being closed.
But am looking forward to it.
layer more than 2 sounds... adjust volume of each sound layered
?
What sound is that?
Quando aperta o botão de "Funtion Knobs" ele corta o som mesmo, ou foi impressão Minha?
Native instruments just released a fierce rival NI S61
+Odu Oba Ara
Do you realize the S61 is a controller and the MX is a synth/"Production Station"?
Can you transmit the split parts using different midi channels?
Does this have bigger keys than the microkorg? Like-- Keys that are more reminiscent of an actual piano?
Yes indeed full size.
Buck Two Perfect for me.
It seems like a fine choice to me Nick. It looks like you can get a lot of cool sounds out of this Yamaha. Pretty cool that you can patch your IOS devices directly in the board!
Excuse me, what different between MX and MOX? Hardware or Playstyle?
What kind of sounds did you use in this video? Id like to know the sound of 4:00, please..
His fingers it’s like a speed of light cannot see with your naked eye 🤔😜
On performance number 41. One side of the split is completely silent, and no sound is heard. What has been done ? and how to activate the the silent part so it be heard? Appreciate the help
Perhaps with the Mod wheel or expression pedal...?
I like the Alan Parsons sounds...
Quick question: Do I have to hook this up to a computer in order to use it or can I just hook it up into an amp and go live?
+Michael Williams I do believe you can do the latter.
+Michael Williams you do not need your computer connected!
i suoni sono gli stessi della serie Motif... tutti utilizzabili professionalmente ;-)
I noticed at 4.36 you pan hard right and the sound went to the left and vise versa ? What did you use to video record this demo and how you mix the sound ? Many thanks great demo
How can i save my favorite sound ?
Click on store then enter and click yes

Thanks for the great demo, but yes, Left and Right are reversed. Or maybe its a youtube thing. Best wishes, P.
No. Speakers or earphones only.
There is a new facebook page (search): YamahaMx49Mx61

Vo
Poor demo. Concentrating in narrow fields.
Must be the most useless demo I’ve ever seen. I’m a gigging solo keys singer. What’s this telling me.
boring vid .?

Larry Steffler ok are you talking about the version one or two and if so what 61 key do you recommend at this price range?
Can you use this as midi in ableton ?
