Still remember that day so clearly. It was so strange to see a Pope that was not John Paul II. But Cardinal Ratzinger was so critical to all of us (Catholics) during those hard days when we had to deal with Wojtyla's death that it was a blessing to see him as his successor. He was humble from the very first moments of his papacy to his last moments. An inspiration to all of us. A man that renounces power just because he knows he could not perform as well as he was expected to. A man that never forgot that he was a servant of God. Thanks to Benedict XVI, I could see, clearer than ever, the path to God. God bless you always, your Sanctity.

I thought Pope Benedict XVI would pick name "Pope Paul" since Paul VI named him Bishop and Cardinal. Nevertheless, the name he picked suits me fine.
In the prophecies of Malachy, this Pope was called “the glory of the olives” which most thought referred to the Benedictines (also called Olivetans…I probably misspelled that). I remember before he was elected saying “if there is anything to this he will either be a Benedictine, or he will take the name Benedict”. I wasn’t surprised

I remember this day clearly with clarity. I was happy that with Benedict XVI, the Church was in safe hands. May he rest in peace after doing the work of God well. May Jesus Christ the Lord of the Harvest reward him with Heaven just He does those who merit it. In Benedict XVI, I see a future Saint and Doctor of the Universal Church. He was a solid man.
I was really praying hard that I'd hear either Ratzinger or Arinze. That was a great and glorious day.

In the Eastern Orthodox Church, after caucusing in the Patriarchal Chamber, the remaining 11 members of the Holy and Sacred Synod come to the Patriarchal Church of St. George the Great Martyr, arriving down the center of the church in order of seniority, taking their respective place on the Solea (platform in front of the Icon Screen).
The Locum Tenens leads the invocation of the Small Litany. At the Commemoration of the hierarch, no name is mentioned.
After the chanting of the Apolotykion of Pentacost, one by one, each hierarch casts a ballot in a Chalice which is upon a Tetropod in the center of the Solea. Upon completion, two hierarchs, Metropolitan archbishops of the Throne, reveal the names on each ballot out loud. The faithful applaud.
