Jim. I watched this video three times and find that it is one of the best I have ever seen. It is informative and very well done. I am in my retirement years and keep busy with my woodworking and find that the more I learn the more I have to learn. I have subscribed to your channel and hope you do more of these. I wish you and your family the best. Jim Jay.
Thanks Jim. Really appreciate it. Yes sir you are correct. We never stop learning. I enjoy woodworking and the satisfaction of making something. I wish you and your family the best in the new year.
A way that I found works well is to cut along that pencil line with a sharp utility knife- then when staining, carefully bring your wet brush up to the cut with each color, and the color will not cross the cut line. You get a very sharp separation line of the two colors.
Hey, thanks for this great video. I'm just starting making flags and crosses. I'm using 1 inch PVC, for starters as my son gets some extra pieces from work. I noticed you're using 2x10's, wow that must be a heavy flag. I use a metal template and use a 106 as well but I use the cone shaped piece that can be adjusted. Since we prefer paint instead of stain my only problem is not having crisp edges on the stars We also like the PVC because it's white throughout. Looking forward to graduating to burning in the future. Just FYI, since the PVC can come in large pieces I can make the union in one piece and then add the five stripes. Thanks again, Robert
Nicely done, really nicely done. Dimensions as I would have expected from your perfect attention to detail are spot freakin' on. Loved the scorch pen. Now only if I can find wood at the BB store that isnt warped and bowed.
Thanks John!! I used the 1x in the past and ripped 1 1/2, but I found it was cheaper to rip 2x one inch thick. Also they seem more sturdy to me, but I am known to overbuild. 😂 That’s what my friends say anyway. In the end I found it easier. Take care and build on.
Great video. Thanks for starting out with the things needed. Really like the dremeled stars rather than just painted on. Looks classier. Never saw that wood burning ink before either. Most of the flags I’ve seen are from 1-by’s. Like the look of the 2x. Thanks so much. And has anyone ever said you like like Justin Turner of the Dodgers?😂
Thank you. I appreciate it!! Yes I rip pine 2x10x12 one inch thick. That gives you 1 1/2 by 37 by 1 inch thick strip. They are more solid to me and its cheaper. Price of lumber is outrageous. Yes I get Justin Turner, Liver King, and Ginger Billy 😂 Take care and build on.

I wish I could share a pic but I don't know how on you tube
How much are you selling them for?
@@dougrobertson1434 120 to 140. Thanks for watching.
How is the stencil 14+ by 10+ yet it only covers 7 pieces that are supposedly 1” wide?
The strips are 1 1/2 wide by 1 thick.
Made 2 so far.
Kieth that’s awesome. Appreciate you watching the video!! Take care and build on.
Aren't you concerned about your sealer pooling in the star cutouts??
Appreciate you taking the time to reach out. Never had a problem with pooling. Wood absorbs the sealant well. Take care and build on.

@@BillHilyard after you rip flip it. You have a 1 1/2 wide by 1 inch thick. Take care and build on.
