Thanks for the mention Phil. I’ve been subscribing since you had that (in)famous Mercedes video and the comments about insurance… Great to see how the channel has grown 👍
Bleeding hell Phil you are a more patient man than me I would have beat the bleeding thing to death with a big hammer after the gearbox change.. so pleased for you mate I think the lad who is buying it from you is getting a good motor NOW after all your hard work. Tom
Hi Phil. Well.. That was a complicated and frustrating fix. You shone (like a star) ⭐With your commitment to the project. Well done indeed. See you in the next one.
Wow, that was a complicated fix Phil. These modern cars are not built to be taken apart by the home mechanic. It is also sad to note that despite all the German Engineering this car has suffered a very premature failure of its transmission! Wouldn’t like to think what Merc would charge to sort this out 😮 Well done in sorting it out mate 👍😎
Excellent video. I have a 69 plate A180D and I think the dual mass flywheel has gone (rattles terrible and car snatches when I pull away) It is going into Mercedes Northampton to have the work done in two weeks. Glad my car is Leased so I won't be picking up the cost. If it was my car I would have the confidence to take this job on having seen your great video.
Hi Martin, they are stretch bolts and where replaced with new 👍 Gearbox could have been coded but Mercs post 2017 for pretty much any coding is dealer only and there very picky when it comes to salvage vehicles unless they supply the parts and labour. All drain plugs where removed, impossible to drain the oil out of the mechatronics unit without pulling that big black cover of the front, why? I have no idea 😀
Clio, well it was sold ( pending collection ) to a friend of my mother in laws but things didn't go to plan... its just been listed on ebay. I'm pretty sure Mercedes could code the gearbox but with it being a salvage vehicle they would probably insist on supplying the gearbox them selves, and at there price is probably why the car was written off in the first place
I’ve just opened my gearbox and emptied the oil and put it back on , when I reduce the speed to like 4MPH the car just vibrates and I put only 4L oil Can you please reply what should I do ? Do I need to put more oil in it ?
Phil I am glad I wasn't doing that gearbox, on all Mercedes you don't need to put the gearbox on when you open the door it should put the handbrake on, and automatically takes it off when you set off, cheers Mark
Yeah can probably be coded but most Mercedes post 2017 are now dealer only ( for EIS coding anyway ) there usually very funny with salvage cars as well.
If it's like the Audi mechatronic units then it can't be programmed to another car. It's a complete waste of a perfectly good part so not sure why they lock them this way
It don’t matter about terminology Phil , can’t understand anything you say 😂, just kidding and I think you use normal average terminology that even I as a non mechanical person kinda get 👍🏻,
Great video - tenacious and methodical. I hope the owner enjoys the car.
Thanks for the mention Phil. I’ve been subscribing since you had that (in)famous Mercedes video and the comments about insurance… Great to see how the channel has grown 👍
So glad to see it up and running, the Grandland X we bought from you is fantastic, a great buy thanks Peta and Jeff
Great to hear your happy with the car jeff, thanks for continuing to watch 👍
Lovely Jubbly, respect to you Phil for not giving up on this car, its took a while but well worth the wait for the finishing video.

Very well done Phil - it looked like hard work, but you did a great job.
Hi Phil. Well.. That was a complicated and frustrating fix. You shone (like a star) ⭐With your commitment to the project. Well done indeed. See you in the next one.
It's been a while Phil, glad to see you back
Wow complicated stuff these new modern cars , well done on all the diagnosis and another Phil success :)

Well done in sorting it out mate 👍😎
Great work Phil, and great to meet you other week.
Great series Phil. Really good to see all the detail and a successful conclusion 👍 The new owner has got himself a very nice car 👍
Top job Lad, There`s always something... Nice to see you got it sorted..👍
Hi Phil. Great to see a new video from you. Hope you’ve been keeping ok. Thanks.
Thanks, you too!
Great engineering skills to the fore, well done lad
Great to see you back Phil, as always excellent content, I really enjoyed it, well done with this complicated repair😊.

Well done Phil, cracking job.
Top job,fantastic video.well done
What a bloody messy job , well done for getting it done.
Fantastic informative video. Is this the same procedure for a 2014 auto GB?
Great work Phil 👍
Flywheel bolts are stretch bolts must be renewed surely? Why can't you code new g/box? Also Phil why didn't you remove g/box drain plug first?
Hi Martin, they are stretch bolts and where replaced with new 👍 Gearbox could have been coded but Mercs post 2017 for pretty much any coding is dealer only and there very picky when it comes to salvage vehicles unless they supply the parts and labour.

Well dun Phil great job mate 👍
yes well done and well worked out
hi - metalic noise when start the engine and until connect in one speed
is like a lose ring -between gearbox and motor
Good job Phil
good job done there
Well done Phil that looked difficult to do 👍
That’s a hell of a lot of work Phil. Surprised that Clio is still with you. Why can’t you code the new gearbox to the car?
Clio, well it was sold ( pending collection ) to a friend of my mother in laws but things didn't go to plan... its just been listed on ebay.

I think you deserve more credit ,what a build who would destroy a car like that ,you make it look simple .😊
Well Done Phil Love watching your vids top man
Result, good work .I bet you had a few doubts though eh?
Yep, probably would have been a bit more squeeky bum time if it was my money on the line on this one!
well done! I would have given up.
Nice work 👍🏻
Great video pal i jist want some help if you dont mind got same issue it will not go to drive or reverse can yiu help please
Good job phil
A nice car to work on
Does gearbox need to code to engine as it’s a different box
I dropped subframe to remove trans on my car. Had to use top mount motor support bar. Your motor does not need that?
Great job well done
Welcome go phil
What a brilliant job ! You got there in the end .. well done 👏🏻 😊
Hi! Very nice job!
How do merc put in a new gearbox?
Should of used threadlock on bolts on flywheel phill
Was great content 👍
28:04 what a ball ache
I e been skipping through. How did you end up coding the box?
Phil I am glad I wasn't doing that gearbox, on all Mercedes you don't need to put the gearbox on when you open the door it should put the handbrake on, and automatically takes it off when you set off, cheers Mark
I hope you are charging that lad the going rate for all that work phil? 👍🏻
Well done you can sell meotronic part of gearbox someone will code it to different car😊
phil what was the name of that guys channel Mercedes ?
BLOODY HELL, your still going..................😮😮😮😮😮😮
I'm no expert but surley you could hsve got a tech to psir the new box.
Yeah can probably be coded but most Mercedes post 2017 are now dealer only ( for EIS coding anyway ) there usually very funny with salvage cars as well.
I'm back Sounds a lot better
what a dam good vidio.
Thankyou Frank 👍
I'm back, so you can continue lol
magic,welldone...
Couldn’t you of just recoded the new box to the car?
Hi phil would you be able to provide me with an email to get in contact with you, Regards to purchasing a salvage vehicle?
seriousaboutsalvage@gmail.com 👍
Wouldn't it have been easier just to get someone to code the gearbox to the car?
Main dealer only unfortunately, they usually don't want to touch salvaged vehicles unless you order parts from them ( gearbox etc )
@@SeriousAboutSalvage Typical main dealers and would also cost a fortune I bet, at least you enjoyed getting covered in oil again 👍
If it's like the Audi mechatronic units then it can't be programmed to another car. It's a complete waste of a perfectly good part so not sure why they lock them this way
If it's anything like the Audi mechatronic then it can't be reprogrammed to another car.
Where have you been??
These days i'm mainly on the golf course🙂 joking aside needed a break form youtube 👍
Am I missing something😵💫has there been a 2 or 3 week gap……
There has 😀 i have kind of a love hate relationship with RUclips, some times i just need a break from it 👍
🤘😎🤘
