Driver error. You can't blame the hill, street, trees or lack of police speed control efforts.
Yeah, but if it’s a KNOWN problem, then putting speed bumps there is not going to hurt. If it will save lives, it’s a good investment. Roosevelt Boulevard is ranked as one of the most dangerous stretches of road in the country. I think it still may be number one.
So we can't blame ur parents for your ignorance and lack of sensitivity either then no?
I agree with you 1 million % but on the flipside, Philadelphia should be doing something more for the road, like installating speed bumps
Millions of cars have driven that road with no problems. It was 100% the driver.
@@darbyvolk7948 Speedbumps on a major road? No.
There is NOTHING wrong with the street . its excessive speed , poor driving skills and self induced distraction .
Take it easy hard rock, it was a sixteen old kid that died. Have some compassion.
Deliberately speeding. After the crash, that car was still going faster than the car that was in front of him.
@@713devereux He didn't say anything harsh. Just stated facts.
@@ohsweetmystery The driver may have swerved to avoid hitting the car in front.
Yeah 100 percent some one was showing the others the phone.
its not the roads fault. Its not a trees fault. Its a speeding reckless person fault.
And doing everything except paying attention to the road.
speed has nothing to do with it. mobile phones have everything to do with it.
They mention the hill, its very small, short and not steep enough to gain much speed from. It was the driver who was reckless and decided to speed, the hill added nothing. RIP

@@realbeautyness25 Yeah, HE WAS.
"You can't tell how fast you're going" Theres this thing called a speedometer right in front of you. Oddly enough it shows how fast your going. Clearly the car was going well over the speed limit aka speeding while the other cars were going the speed limit with no issues. I highly doubt the hill and road caused this accident.
Edit: The latest news report revealed that the 16yr old driver didn't have a driver license
Oh then he absolutely needs to go to prison. As an ADULT
Ironically, I suspect that the other vehicles were also doing 5-10mph over the posted limit, because in my experience that's what _most_ drivers do _most_ of the time.
I thought the same thing !
@@pulaski1 Never copy other drivers on the road and always follow the posted speed limit unless there are already traffic patrol officers on the scene telling you otherwise.
Other drivers have the potential to be just as reckless, why would you follow them? The old proverbial, would you follow them if they drove off a cliff?
@@_Just_Another_Guy I don't know what planet _you're_ living on, but if you drive at the posted speed limit where I live you will create a rolling road block on local roads, and get totally run over by almost _everyone_ on multilane highways - such that you would be a danger to yourself and others.
Recently, just for kicks, I drove right at the 25mph posted speed limit through a local neighborhood to annoy a school bus (I hate school buses) that had caught up with me.
The bus quickly caught up to me when I had been doing 30mph, so had likely been doing around 35mph. I slowed to the posted 25mph speed limit and the driver had to follow me for probably 1½ miles (I was 90% certain he was heading to a school near where I live, so had no choice but to follow me) at a distance of less than a car's length from my rear bumper!!!
BTW I have _never_ had a road traffic accident that was ruled my fault, and no accidents of any sort other than slow speed bumps. In fact the only on-road accidents I have ever had have been the FIVE times I have been hit from behind, so I don't need any lectures about not speeding, thx.
As usual they blame everything but the drivers fault.
"They're clearly too young for responsibility"
@@frespects9624 Too young for responsibility but still allowed to drive recklessly...
@_Just_Another_Guy I call straight bs on anyone who says a 16 year old doesn't know better and blames the road. It's pure negligence. I started to learn how to operate power tools at about 10 years old. Driving is very easily or very hard depending on how seriously you take it
@@frespects9624 They say at sixteen you are barley mature enough to drive down a hill. But at fourteen you are mature enough to have yourself castrated and get on female hormones.
Blaming anything other than reckless driving is cruel. It will only encourage this behavior. Hold these kids accountable for their mistakes! That’s the only way anyone learns. (And sometimes not even then)
Also, why is everyone in this report pretending that speedometers don’t exist?! You have no excuse to not know your speed. *It’s right in front of your face!*
@callidus7ssm but it's not as interesting as the phone or dash screen.

Well the passengers hold responsibility as well, they made the choice to be passengers. It was an accident, they happen. Every single person has driven beyond the speed limit, every single person. Calm down, it was an accident!
Speed and ignorance kills
Picking up speed coming down the hill more like showing off and lost control and smacking the tree . 16 yrs old did he have a license or a permit ?
No
Regardless, it was illegal : 3 teens/0 adults
Can't blame that on the street. Watch your speed.
Uh, it has nothing to do with the road or surroundings.....all on the driver.
In Colorado, we have a law that prohibits teenaged drivers from having anyone but family in the vehicle. It is smart and practical, and saves young lives.
Same in ohio
@@leorobin832 wow!! those in authority are concern for our young people. This law should implemented all over the country. I’m going to write my governor about this. Thanks
Texting or other distractions. Its not worth it kids. Pay attention always
Wonder if the back seat passenger had a seat belt on ? Might have saved him.
Maybe it would have saved him, maybe not - I couldn't work out from the video which way the rolling vehicle hit the tree. If it was roof-first a seat belt probably wouldn't have helped.
It’s hard to say. I knew someone who died in a crash. Broken neck. I don’t think there was a mark on his body at all. I’ve wondered if his height was relevant, since he was well above average, and sometimes vehicles have no protection for the neck if you can’t adjust the headrest to your height.
@@pulaski1 I doubt it, no responsible person in the car. Just like putting kids in a room full of candy, who is there to stop them from eating the whole room up.???
People "pick up speed going downhill and don't even realize it"? Paying attention to the speedometer while driving or even paying attention might help. Speed can get you to where you are going faster but increases your chances of not getting there at all.
Take a good look at that little hill, big deal. If the hill was the cause, Tennessee, Colorado, Utah would have no teenagers at all. They need something to blame other than the reckless 16 year old.
Media looks for "concerns", legitimate or not, to hype the story. Look up "Yellow Journalism".
The speedometer has no use for those, they can't count to ten.
Really! They're describing people who shouldn't be allowed to drive. If you don't realize that your car might gain speed going downhill, you are too stupid to drive. They should make it a question on the written exam, with an automatic fail if you get it wrong, to weed out the incurably stupid.
You’re not going to fix anything by changing speed limits or adding speed bumps. Some people are still going to drive like they’re invincible.
I feel the same way
That's all driver error.
16 year old kids shouldn’t be driving without an adult.
That’s what it was for my generation growing up…

@@v-town1980 Exactly! Even more reason to not let teens drive without an adult.
In the UK you can't start learning till you're 17. The driving test is a rigorous exam involving hazard perception, driving theory and then a 40 minute practical covering a lot of different skills. Pass rate first time is just under 50%. Our accident rates are WAY lower than in the USA. Road deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in the USA is 12.4. In the UK it is 2.4.

Plus we allow drivers that can’t read English to drive. We have a lot of drivers who couldn’t care less driving alongside people who do obey the laws and yet nothing happens. It’s actually scary driving in the cities and watching people cut across three lanes pushing people out of the way to make their exit.
let's blame the trees and not the idiots putting other peoples lives at risk by acting like speed limits don't apply to them.
That was reckless no matter what you think. The hill doesn't amount to nothing, look at the difference in speed to the van in the video, the driver was reckless and irresponsible.
as a septa driver for 31 years between 12am to 9am on the blvd. it all comes down to speed kills
I don't know what a septa driver is.
Bus driver.
Funny thing about trees, they don't move. One of the worst things you can run into in an accident.
Kid panicked when he realized he was going fast and was going to hit car in front. He chose the trees.
How bout you teach kids better and not blame the street?
It's not just kids but a large majority of people on the roads who act as if driving is some trivial task, when in all reality, you can end your life or another's in a matter of seconds. Driving is a very simple thing but too many people downplay the gravity of it.
He was just a witness! Why are you blaming him? 🤔🤔🤔
