Pedro de Assis, the neglected Brazilian flutist/pedagogue/composer, born in 1873 in the city of Recife, state of Pernambuco, was among the best flute players of his generation. He was also a magnificent composer and pedagogue, exemplified here by his Estudo de Virtuosidade No. 13 [Study of Virtuosity No. 13 for flute].
