Lived up to the hype brother!! Wow, just wow! I watched with the whole family and you could hear a pin drop. Proud to point at the screen and say "that crazy bastard is my friend".
All I can say now that have seen what the talk and hype about this hike is...Holy Crap!! I don't think I would be able to walk after all of that!! it would definitely be an overnighter. Well done!!! Bravo!!
Hi. I jumped over from Jeremiah Stringer Hikes' Mt Rushmore video and am always happy to find another backpacking channel. I'll be watching for your videos and look forward to learning from you. One of these years, I'm hoping to do a rim to rim at the canyon. Thanks for putting this together and sharing.
What an awesome adventure!! It’s so amazing Chuck hiked that with you…I’d have to pass for sure!! “So sick of shit touching me”😂 Great memories of an epic adventure tho!! Looking forward to the next video!!!
Sheweee that was a sketchy route!! Reminds me of the Warner Route my wife and I did at Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. We got wrecked haha. Great video, Miyagi!
I hiked that trail too! Kaibob too. And I did it with my mom and my 86 yr old grandmother. I hope to get back to the canyon someday before I die. I look forward to your video.
" I don't recommend this trail to anybody", lol. Wow, what an adventure and what a video! Simply amazing, nice work... I bet you would do it over again!
Awesome editing, music, dialogue…cinematic…I was blown away! Well done my friend. You need to teach me how to edit. This was amazing! Well done! Crow✌️
Off trails are the best trails. What an area brother. I’ve been waiting on this video for a long time. It did not disappoint. Awesome video brother. Love the scenery and you should have camped out there. I absolutely loved this video brother 👊🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I think if we would have stayed in the canyon that night Rob and Jeremy would have sent a search party to come find us. 😂 I would love to have stayed in that stealth spot along the Bright Angel Creek… though strictly speaking you’re not supposed to. I’d like to do more trips where the entirety of the trip is spent off trail. I think that would be super cool!!
Just did the Old Bright Angel Trail last week (from the top down). You guys are beasts to hike out of the Canyon on it, in shorts no less. Great video👍
I really enjoyed this. I've been dreaming of a rim to rim hike so this was very exciting to me. I really appreciate what you said about getting out and seeing things that most people don't. While I'm not ready for the Old Bright Angel Trail, I am really impressed with you getting through all of that. I've been taking some survival classes because I figure that I'm that guy that will get lost on a hike like this. Super impressive job. Thanks for putting this together and sharing.
I appreciate the kind words. One of my most valuable tools for route finding is an application on my phone called Gaia Maps. It utilizes the GPS tracking on your phone and you do not need Cellular connectivity or Wi-Fi. Used along with paper maps it’s an excellent tool in the backcountry. It’s all about proper planning and having the proper resources for the environment and the weather.
What a crew, what an adventure. Great editing, speed ramping, slow mo the works you can really tell a story and the Mule is something special to behold at 4k 60 fps. Nice to see you guys all together and having fun.
Mule is a beast!! Much appreciate the kind words. It’s great to relive these adventures though video….and hopefully teach and inspire people along the way.
@@MiyagiontheTrail we did not. We just showed up at the Backcountry permit office and took what they had. We did the Hermit loop and came up the new Bright Angel trail. Dropping a vid for it on Thursday.
Sweeeeeeet! Looking forward to watching that one. The cool part, if you have the time & stamina, is you can Rim to Rim via the Old Bright Angel and you don’t need a permit as long as you don’t overnight in the canyon. Aggressive…but definitely doable.
Ohhh I’m tempted! Didn’t even know this was an option. Just got a permit for 2 nights at BA campground. Was gonna do NK Rim back to River on Day 2, but I might go up this trail for a bit. Even if I don’t go all the way up and back, it’d still be awesome!
Much appreciated William! Jeremiah is a good friend. Probably because I don’t put out videos quite as often as others do. Right now I’m working on quality over quantity…plus my job, four kids and all that 😂. I very much appreciate you stopping by my channel & dropping me a message. Fist bumps ~ Miyagi
@@MiyagiontheTrail anytime my friend! This video was incredible and you do a great job with every video. It was great to meet you at the ATC is Alabama and hope we get a chance to reconnect soon. Cheers!!
How long did it take you to get from the fork at the bridge by Manzanita to the intersection of the Ken Patrick Trail? Time and distance from those two points would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
I've hiked the Old Bright Angel route twice, once as a teenager with my father and brother in 1985, and alone in 2020. Both times I did it from the top down. Even that way, without the climbing you did, it was one of the most difficult, challenging hikes I've ever done. Your video does a great job capturing just how rough and unmaintained this old route is. Kudos!
Thank you Thomas! It’s great to hear from someone else who has tackled this route. There’s a great sense of accomplishment when you have completed it, but it is certainly a butt kicker!
Great team of hike with Buddy, jelly and toast I am not with you for this one… Mule is best, Almost is best, Rob Pelton is best, Miyagi is best. Another great learn and adventure with map, distance and of info info!

Thanks so much Shane! We definitely would have spent the night if the other two guys weren’t expecting us up on the North Rim. What an adventure!

Well you’re got some tough ladies in your family Floyd! 💪 Everyone needs to experience the big ditch at least once in their lives.
Wow that trail looked extremely difficult. Your guys are some beast.

Almost didn’t do it. From the south end of the trail within the canyon there is no sign for it. Good thing for GAIA! Just had to trust the map 🗺
good adventure, thx for sharing
