    Recently discovered the Tailfin line of packs. I was better off ignorant! These are so superior and carry such a premium price! Once you see them and how they work any other system just looks clunky. I can use the AP20 for short bikepacking rides where I carry minimal gear. I can simply add 2 of the 10 liters for long tours.

    Great video ! Thanks for the explanations !
    I have still time to think about it until I saved enough to buy one.

    I love the rack system and have made some modifications (velcro not structural) that allow me to use smaller bags for audax type rides too. It's great to have what would normally be a bag under the top tube 'out back' rather than potentially rubbing on legs when pedalling. Overall an awesome system no matter what mode it's in!

    Nice info chaps!! I really wish i had gone for the rack system. Love my aeropack but wish i had the versatility of the rack! Also i couldnt get the pannier arch as it was out of stock when i got mine.
    Also can i convert the aeropack bag to work on the rack? Thanks 😁

      Hi Mark,

    Suggestion: You should make an option for a 'top quick release frame mount' as an alternative to the seatpost mount.

    Great thought into the products and very well designed. The price however is way out of this world.

    Congrats on the video explanation! PS: can you add TA skewers for Orbea MTBs....yes I know some Orbea MTBs like my Loki/Laufey have longer Thru-Axles; but as of now I believe I cannot use a Tailfin on my Loki/Laufey.

    Love my aeropack for Ultra and Audax events. Having and option to mount bottle cages has been an great addition. I would like to see an internal plastic base to the bag (as you find in a typical sports kit bag) to prevent a damage to the bottom. I’ve made my own cutting one down from an old one 😊.

    Thank you, that was very helpful. Question is, does the system works for NOT ROUND and D-shaped Carbon seat-posts?

      @TailfinCycling  Месяц назад

      Yes it does, you should be able to fit this on most bikes. We have people with TT bikes that run our packs.

    I love this idea. I tried to use your web page tool but I think it gave me a wrong axle recommendation. My lynskey has a 12x148mm boost so I dont think the default through axle is right. How can I confirm? The tool was lacking a lot of info past brand and bike type. Like nothing.

      You'll need the Universal Axle for the best fit with your Boost rear spacing.

    I'm still stuck between use cases with each system.
    - Most of the time I want to use the rack to carry a laptop in a removable pannier for commuting. A removable AP20 would also be desirable for days without the laptop.
    - I also want to use the system for attaching to my dual-sus MTB or gravel bike for off road bikepacking with an AP20 and cargo cages. This setup will be used less frequently.
    If I get an Aeropack, I'll be stuck with excessive volume for commuting with a laptop (plus the top bag won't be conveniently removable). If I get a rack then it seems that the system won't be ideal for use on a MTB due to the rattling concerns.
    Would the best solution be a rack, pannier, AP20 and then an Aeropack conversion kit? The thought is that I could have the convenience of removable bags most of the time, and then convert it to be more rigid for bikepacking trips.

      I have the aero pack. Luckily I can just barely fit my laptop in the top pack. But I plan to add a pannier from now on for a more flush fit on the laptop. If you use the locking bolts, I think you should go with the aero pack and add a pannier for commuting.

      Thanks for the question! As you have rightly put, when having two very different uses it can still be a bit tricky to work out. The good news is your suggestion of opting for the Rack and then adding the AeroPack Connector Kit is exactly what we would suggest. With a little practice switching from one style to the other is rapid and easy. Hope this helps?

    hello, does the lock system works also on a "non-round" seat tube like the one of the 3t racemax? thanks!

      Hi, yes it should aero seat tubes. We have customers using them on TT bikes. The kit will come with an extra long strap that'll accommodate a bigger seat post. We hope this helps.

    Why is the rack platform (or bottom of bag) so far above the rear wheel??

    • @irfuel
      @irfuel 3 месяца назад

      You should try a normal bike packing saddle bag. It's even higher above the rear wheel.
