MOONBOARD BATTLE | Area51 2024

Hey NoGripers! We went to the finals of the first Italian edition of the Moonboard Battle at Area51 in Florence.
Previous years the event was limited to the Tuscan region but this year they have opened participation to all athletes from Italy.
Unique prerequisite? Have a 2016 Moonboard at 40°.
Qualifying for the finals, using the self-certification method, can be done from any place as long as it respects the main prerequisite of using the correct wall.
To access the finals it was necessary to climb 30 out of 30 blocks set up in the mooboard app.
There were 4 categories:
- No Big (who will compete from 6B+ to 7A)
- Big (who will compete from 6C+ to 7B+)
- Pro (who will compete from 7A+ to 8A)
- Women (the latter will be able to try all the boulders from 6B+ to 8A, and will then be included in a separate ranking)
45 athletes from Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Lazio and Marche signed up.
6 athletes from each category advanced to the final.
A very interesting competition given that to participate you only need the 2016 Moonboard wall which is found in most gyms.
Luca Andreozzi directed the competition together with Apuani on the Rock and delighted us with the "Tracing Song".
