Presenting a total of 5 Udupi Brahmin Style Avalakki Recipes in Kannada with English Subtitles. Most of these can be prepared for breakfast or for evening snacks. These are often prepared during festivals, fasting days and family functions, specially among Udupi/Mangalore Brahmin community.
These are quite popular as Sri Krishna Jayanthi or Krishna Janmashtami recipes, specially in Karnataka. We fast during the day and then Avalakki dishes are prepared for breaking the fast in the night when Krishna's birth is celebrated.
Sweet Avalakki is also popular during Ganesh Chaturthi as prasada.

Fresh Grated Coconut - 1 cup
Powdered Jaggery - 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
Thin poha - 3 Cups
2) Upkari Avalakki Recipe
Ingredients:
Grated Coconut - 2 cups
Green chilli - 1
Salt
Sugar - 2 Tbsp
Coconut oil - 2 Tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Bydagi Red Chillies - 3
Curry Leaves - 8-10
Thin poha or Avalakki - 4 &1/2 cups
Coriander leaves - 2-3 Tbsp
3) Huli Avalakki Recipe
Ingredients:
Thick Poha - 4 Cups
Tamarind - 1 small lemon sized
Powdered Jaggery - 2 Tbsp
Salt
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves
Grinding Ingredients:
Grated Coconut - 1 Cup
Red Chillies - 3-4
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Jeera or Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Seasoning Ingredients:
Oil - 3 Tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Groundnuts - 2 Tbsp
Curry Leaves - 8-10
4) Curd Avalakki Recipe

Thick Poha or Avalakki - 1 Cup
Curd - 1 Cup or more if needed
