Definitely an odd line to play under that vocal melody, making it super easy to let those “outside” notes pull the vocal off key. Only musicians would catch that. A great example of how musicians hear music differently than the rest of the people on Earth.

Maybe it’s just me, but I prefer this mix to the studio album. To my ears, it has more “life” and feels far less sterile. Ariel is incredible and I’m a huge fan of his playing, so I’m not knocking the album at all, I just wish bands would record in the same room together more often. Regardless, incredible effort from Ariel on this album, and as much as I dug “Familiar Ground,” his writing and arrangements here seem to have matured a lot. “Coming Back” definitely has a shot at mainstream airplay, and hopefully it’s released as a single and catches 🔥 Can’t wait to hear what he brings to the table over the next few years 🤘🏼
Ariel, I love what you do with that low tuned slide. But I also love what you do with a standard tuned Strat or 335 into a Fender Deluxe. I hope you give us some of that too. You have a dynamics in that context that is different than the slide that is very complimentary and something I really appreciate.
