Great video. Thanks again. I do have that preamp. It is a fine one. Not as great as threshold, levinson or counterpoint in performance or enjoyable but for a SS preamp it does the job right.

Thanks for the comment and am glad you are enjoying it. Have never tested counterpoint or threshold gear, maybe one day....

    Hi. Nice post.
I have this preamp. I recapped the power supply with panasonic caps and replaced the diodes. Once that was done and did the listening test. Much better but still a bit of distortion. I then replaced all the relays with high quality ones. It works very . By the way I also have the matching 2102 amp.
I have three 2102 amps which have been gone through. 200 wpc. They are a best with this preamp. Hooked up to klipsch klf 30s. My klipsch klf 30s have been recapped and totally rebuild.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences. Am curious about the distortion you are hearing. I have never needed to replace power supply caps except if they are shorted, but can understand doing so on very old equipment- but mainly power amps. Maybe my buddy has a 2102 for me to test as well...?

Thank you again….getting tedious thanking you every time…. :-) and I’ll say again I always learn something. And btw, I liked the speaker cable vid. The comments were fun too .
Addendum… you deserve more subs and a better monthly pay cheque

You just made my day- thanks so much for the kind comments. That speaker cable video took so much time as I replied to almost all of the comments- most people understood the point I was making. My top video as far as viewers. It is a quarterly paycheck- maybe one day monthly- but it was not why I do this. I have no plans on doing more than 1 video/week and and don't do shorts, which helps to get viewers. And I am not a girl in a bikini. And I don't act really "crazy" with funny effects. But there are not a lot of channels that focus on measurements of vintage gear, so I have a little niche. I am doing a livestream on Oct 19th at 1pm MST, and you have the opportunity to win the Neohipo ET30 speaker switcher if you watch and enter.

Well I for one appreciate and look forward to your vids. Even though….. even though… am I being clear? :-) even though I’ll never see let alone buy most of the tested stuff . Well , maybe I exaggerate .
Leaving aside the idea of bikini girl, I really like your vid format, testing, numbers, then subjective opinion. Of course I have test requests, but that’s just me being selfish.
Oh and one more thing … I know how long it takes to shoot and edit. Let alone the testing. You need some more feedback in terms of money or else your enthusiasm will, sorry to say, will lessen. It’s a truth, having cash come in for efforts helps the energy . Even if it’s not an amount to let you quit day job.
And another thing. It takes so little effort to support your work in the comments. It really is the least one can do after enjoying the vid.
Cheers, and keep up the good work
      Alistair

@@ragnarhairybreeks Thanks so much again. Requests are great, but only if my friends have the piece of gear- just ask and who knows. I still have a few pieces of my own gear that I have yet to review as well. I am retired, so don't need the money- but it is cool to tell friends and family that I get some $ from youtube now and then, and lets me splurge on a piece of test equipment.

Now I don’t like you anymore ….. retired and having fun…. Grrr :-)

@@ragnarhairybreeks I am fortunate to retire when I did- still a bit young. The least fun thing is actually recording in front of the camera since I don't have a scripting and take many shots before I get one good enough that I can edit with. Sometimes I get disappointed with how a piece of gear tests- had one tonight that has me scratching my head a bit- so that part is not fun. But I really like some of the comments I get with viewer's stories with a certain piece of gear that I reviewed. Oh, pick a piece of gear that you want and start saving for it and being on the look out for it- enjoy it as soon as you can!
