      … my Arco grinder recommends 0-30 for espresso, but I couldn’t achieve sufficient pressure. Only after I dialed grind below 0-20 and smaller - was I able to able to achieve 9 bars on my Flair 58 with longer shot/extraction times ~20 secs; recently I’ve seen others recommend Arco settings between 0-10 & 0-16 for espresso

    I thought the whole purpose of the 58x was to not have to remove anything to pre-heat. You preheat it with water and purge it. Saves having to loosen the set screw every time.

    • @be_shoichi
      @be_shoichi  Год назад

      Not sure where you got that information? At least, the steam pre-heating is what Flair recommends for 58x. Nonetheless, keen to know if there's any better ways.

    • @thehoelzels6316
      @thehoelzels6316 Год назад

      @Shoichi I'm not sure how old yours is, but the ones made in the last half year or so are allow you to pour water in the top (fully assembled and in stand), pull up the handle to draw in the hot water, let it sit to preheat, pull down the handle to purge, and it's ready to go.
      Have a look at some of the other 58x demonstrations on RUclips. The whole point of the 58x is not to have to use it like the less expensive pro 2, etc

    • @thehoelzels6316
      @thehoelzels6316 Год назад

      Not saying you can't do it the way you are but it was designed to be easier do use than the less expensive models.

    Hi Shoichi, I really love this video. I have some confuse between flair 58 and flair 58x. How long have you need to pre-heat the flair 58x and the highest temputure can you made with this way. Thanks and have a good day!

    • @be_shoichi
      @be_shoichi  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! I have never measured it, but I heard 58x takes few minutes longer to reach the highest temperature compared to 58. I personally don't wait that long (maybe 1 minute max after boil) anyway since I feel the few degrees difference won't affect the final cup.

    Nice video. I have almost the same setup (comandante c40 instead of arco)
    Everytime I start with the plunger down, somehow there is air in the system. Reason why I always fill the chamber, then put the plunger and press.

    • @be_shoichi
      @be_shoichi  Год назад

      That's true. I usually let the air escape by lifting the handle once or twice while filling the water. But I guess if you are not brewing back-to-back, attaching the plunger after the fill might be a better workflow.

    Im looking into getting a 58 but idk if my grinder would be up for espresso. Im currently using a Kinu M47 classic and ive been making some great pourovers with it and i definitely want to step up my coffee game and start trying my hand at espresso. Will my Kinu be good enough for the 58 or do i need to buy a new grinder for it?

    • @be_shoichi
      @be_shoichi  10 месяцев назад +1

      Haven't tried Kinu for myself so can't fully speak for it, but considering it has the same burr size as ARCO, it should do the job. Especially if you're just starting, I'd recommend avoiding high upfront investment as you never know how much you'd enjoy the espresso game. If you do, you'll naturally know when to upgrade 😉

    • @grtech2011
      @grtech2011 10 месяцев назад +2

      @be_shoichi Thanks, I was thinking about getting either the 2.0 or the 58, mainly for the pressure gauge and I'm leaning more towards the 58 because the portafilter is a more common size and interchangeability. And to be honest I'm not too worried about the higher price tag of the 58 only because I know I do enjoy espresso but would like to learn how at home. Also I'm a manual machine nut (why I bought a kinu) and the cost for the 58 is literally only 100 dollars more than the grinder I'm using. I'll be doing a bit more research while I'm saving and thanks again for the info 👍👍

      I haven't done or seen any side-by-side comparison with the 58 so cannot speak for it, but I feel 58x pre-heats well enough.
