- Early this morning Monday the 23rd March 2020 saw the arrival of the P&O Cruises 'Britannia' from Barbados into Southampton Ocean Cruise Terminal for an estimated time of 06:15am. It was quite an emotional moment in time to see her arriving under such difficult circumstances due to the virus that has spread around the world. The 'Britannia' will be layed up here in Southampton until further notice.
Beautiful video of the last return from the BRITANNIA to Southampton. Hope they are sailing soon again. Thumbs up. Greetings by Unimedien.
Had a fantastic holiday aboard last October. Beautiful ship, fantastic crew. Wishing you all well.
Thanks Steve for the video such a sad time to see a beautiful ship coming into sounthamton I have cried on every video it makes me so sad I have cruised on this ship beautiful good luck p.o every body do what our groverment telling us to do and we w.ill crush this virus big thanks Steve for keeping us up to date with the ships in and out of sounthamton and keep safe your self
Many thanks Phyllis, It has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for me with cruise ships arriving and sailing out again only to be layed up somewhere. I will try and keep safe away from this nasty virus...kind regards...Steve.
A ship? An appartement building afloat
Thank you mate keep up the good work may not live there anymore but my heart is still there
Beautiful ship. Beautiful production. Thanks for sharing.
She is a big one hope they all start cruising again soon all the best to them all and the crews on board
Massive. Huge. Epic. Lovely Video of the Britannia.
Hi Steve, appreciate all your time and effort filming all your lovely videos , especially now with the Coronovirus. Hope you and your family keep healthy.
Eileen, Canada
Thank you Eilleen for your comment about my video and others, this shutdown from the cruise ships is keeping me on my toes I am trying to keep pace with what is coming into Southampton and what is going elsewhere for the temporary lay up until it is safe for cruise ships to start taking passengers on their cruise holidays again. At the moment Eilleen myself and family are well thank you, the UK is near enough in total lockdown....Regards from Steve in Southampton.
I work in Fawley,I will make a brief stop at Hythe marina tomorrow morning to have a look and see what’s going on over in Southampton water, great videos, thanks for posting them.
The joys of living so close is to get to see these magnificent ships! I'm Holbury 😂
It was nice to spot Fawley. My dad worked there though all of the 70s. We lived in Lymington and then moved away. It was only a couple of years ago when I visited that I discovered what was going on on Southampton waters!
We sail in on this ship on this day , I am sure when all this is over they will be back sailing and giving there customers perfect service , we had an amazing time even though we did not get the holiday we were hoping for P&O could not have done more for us , we have already booked our next cruise with them on this ship .
I was on Britannia from the 29th February to the 14th March 20. It was neatly the end of my cruise in the Caribbean and new passengers were getting on Britannia looking forward to their Caribbean cruise.A broadcast came over from the Captain (Paul Brown)to say that their planned Caribbean cruise can no longer go ahead and Britannia had to sail back to Southampton..It was so sad, heartbreaking actually..for the Captain,Officers ,Crew and passengers.I would never want to witness that again. THe Crew are so hard working and glad they are going to be looked after well, but are not allowed off the Ship. Frances,Jean,Joshua,Jeffa and Jamie stay safe, will see you all back on Board September and February hopefully. The Bridlington Girls June and Linda xx
i was supposed to be on board and going to St Kitts today, sad times beautiful video, roll on next year x
Us too should have been on the glass bottem boat today with steal band
Was due to sail on her in May on our first cruise.............sadly cancelled, hopefully, next year now. Good luck to all the crew.
Fantastic, enjoyed it fully.
Happy to see them back safely but gutted was supposed to be going on her this Friday for our holiday, booked for this time next year on her can’t wait. Good luck to all the Staff and Crew in the future.
Hello Steve lovely sunrise in the background but sad sight to see another lovely LADY OF THE SEA laid-up. Please take care. Regards Lynne xx
Hi Lynne, as you may have heard the UK is now in lockdown for 3 weeks which will hopefully contain this virus to stop it spreading further infecting people. It is a great shame seeing these cruise ships arrive here in Southampton after cruise itineraries have all been cancelled until further notice. I will take the upmost care and keep safe thank you Lynne you and your family keep safe as well too Regards..Steve xx.
@@SteveCarrett I was wondering have you heard anything about Arcadia's arrival back in Southampton before 9th April ??
@@lynnedouglas4065 According Southampton VTS Arcadia is due to arrive here on the 11th April but at the moment her position is just off of the coast of South Africa.
@@SteveCarrettThank you for the information. Arcadia was supposed to refuel and restock in Durban South Africa and then on to Dubai and through Suez Canal. I doubt she will be going to Cadiz in Spain before returning to Southampton.
As a regular cruiser out of Australia, 17 and (hopefully), counting, this breaks my heart. These beautiful ships should be out and about, full of happy people who have worked hard to afford all they have to offer, not tied up to some forgotten wharf.
Me and my partner were on this cruise. Lovely ship
Nice video, i was on Azura as Britannia was heading back home, it certainly was a cruise to remember
Hi Mike,That was a good day when both Ships were in Port and they were sounding the horns to one another ,Jerusalem they played with the horns. Good Sailaway.
We got off in Barbados and flew home on 15/3/20 ,feel sorry for crew, but credit to P&O who compensated passengers well
Nice video my friend. Thank you for sharing. Thumbs up. Greetings from Germany..
Beautiful ship, let's hope she's back sailing the seas again soon
Sailed on this beauty a couple of times - lets hope she's soon back in service
Had a wonderful cruise on her to Norway in June 2019. She will sail again one day. I wonder what is involved in shutting her down? Is it possible or indeed necessary to plug her into shore power to keep some things going? Or do they keep an engine running to provide electricity for her? Or do they shut everything down and close the door?
We did the maiden voyage on Britannia lovely ship but the weather was awful looking forward to sailing with her again.
So lucky I cruised on Britannia in January. Gutted for my friend who was supposed to to the Transatlantic later than this early return.
Lovely ship lovely video well done 👍
We were on this crossing in C720. We boarded at Barbados to be informed later that evening that we were returning to Southampton. All crew on board were exceptional and went above and beyond.
The whole Fleet are being stored in Dover not Southampton - they just disembarked us there. They refuelled and later moved to Dover where crew will remain on board.
Only the Oceana and Aurora are being stored in Dover, all of the rest will remain in Southampton
I sincerely hope I’m back on board in January 21 - We are all living in uncertain times
Hi Steve, Any idea when the QM2 and the Victoria will be arriving home? Thanks so much for your great videos! Donna Russell
Hi Donna, according the planned schedules the Queen Victoria is due on the 26th March and Queen Mary 2 on the 12th April....Regards Steve.
@@SteveCarrett Thanks Steve!
Steve how many P&o ships are in Southampton now do you know
Gary we have Ventura that has gone out on a channel cruise this morning and will arrive back tomorrow and Britannia is still in dock.
Hi Steve are they passengers still on this ship?
I think all passengers disembarked so it's just the crew that remains on board.
Luv the Union Jack 🇬🇧 on the front of the ship 🚢 !!!
A rare sight these troubled times.
keep safe Steve
Steve thank you all very sad
It's heartbreaking! I'm due on Arcadia on 5th July. Taking my mum on her first holiday in so many years following a long illness and finally passing of my Dad 18 months ago. I'm crossing all my fingers that we will be able to still go but have to admit there is a big part of me thinking we will have to postpone. My thoughts to everyone at this really difficult time x
what a nice thought and sentiment philip. a rare thing for you to think of others. sad of the cruise mine too . i hope it brings a better sense of community for everyone . but for some i doubt it in these not so beneficial modern times take care great care. blessings richard
Many thanks where is oceania now
Oceana is in Dover with Aurora.
Yes a sad sight but will she still be pushing out pollution while she is in port? I heard that ABP were refusing to invest in shore power for the visiting ships. Apparently Southampton has some of the worst air pollution in the UK.
I always thought laid/layed up meant "broken up", thank gosh I was wrong
My heart breaks for the crew members who are facing an unknown future
The crew who took British jobs? Of course I feel sorry about anyone losing a job, but Brits were mocked for complaining about Globalism taking their jobs twenty years ago.
Look at the colour of the sky that would have made a great photo.👍
Did this cruise end early
Yes, we joined 13th in Barbados for a 14 night journey and the next day we set sail for Southampton. All crew on board were excellent and we all were tested before we got on and we spent 8 days travelling across the Atlantic with 0 cases on board.
@@deerees935 thank you for your quick reply me and my wife booked that very same cruise and due to problems at home we were unable to travel and we had to cancel losing our deposit I hope you get some compensation back
Beautiful ship is she being layed up in Southampton
I believe so yes until 11th April.
Welcome home
Hiya Steve who stays on the ships when they are laid up they have to still be maintained I hope they are
Just the crew to remain on board l think to help keep ship clean in sanitizing.
Hope they are going to turn all the ships engines off why it's docked? Southampton is already polluted enough from cruise ships.
No they will keep them at full power and just rev them up all night !!!!! Moron
Stay safe
It’s good they are back safe. But why did they go in the first place ...... when other ships had already been isolated!!!!!!!
What about arcadia😭😭
Arcadia is on her way back to Southampton, as of now she is just off of the coast of Senegal West Africa.
@@SteveCarrett so, sir crew members will be sent back to their respective homes after arrival?
I too am emotional am I going to get a full refund and will we still have a job I feel like a money lender future cruise credit full refunds no question
Think of all That Food Drink Fuel Etc Etc .Thats Not Going on These Ships U Think ?
One thing the owners must change on these boats is air conditioning. Every boat that has had the virus infected the others with the same air circulating and has caused many problems...
just like an aeroplane
How the fuck does that ship pass any emissions regulations??
gotta be the ugliest floating apartment block I've ever seen.
Dont be bitter you can't afford a ticket
@@williamwhitecloud9020 hit yourself a slap, these ships are floating petri dishes. (google that, idiot) all the great unwashed stuck on a ship at sea, how many are stuck at sea now? they aint beautiful ships they are cheap and cheerful pack em in. I can assure you I can afford anything you can I would rather not meet anyone like you on one of these floating apartment blocks.
Vindicari... I reckon you're about right. Been on 4 cruises and 2 had major bug issues... noro virus.... on one, the ship's doctor sacked himself half way through as he couldn't take any more. I found people generally don't wash their hands after using the toilet no matter the consequences and ships are crowded environments just perfect for spreading infection.
It's a brute... floating township.
Maybe the end of cruise ships - who can say?
Laid up not layer up !
Thousands more people in the area to spread the coronavirus around....i hope the crew members are not allowed to congregate around the town like the crews of the other ships docked were doing over the last couple of weeks!
We were on board this ship and we were all tested for coronavirus before we joined the ship in Barbados. There were 0 cases on board. We were probably the safest people in the world as we were in a virus free bubble essentially. The staff worked tirelessly and they are remaining on the ship for the duration of the hiatus.
So Susie Foxy, what do you base your comments on ? Fact or your own fiction ? Fiction of course. We were also on this cancelled cruise and chose to take the trip back. As Dee Rees below states we were all tested before boarding the vessel in Barbados, and were isolated from anyone ashore for 8 days, probably safer than most people in the rest of the world.
Well said Martyn Hill .Spot on with your comments. Was on Britannia on its last trip around the Caribbean islands and everything was done by the Captain and crew to ensure a safe environment. If I lived in Southampton I would worry about the local idiots that still can't get with the idea of self isolating and think it's a great idea to go out and mix with other likewise people
Not enough lifeboats on this ship!
I do not see enough lifeboats
At least it is still afloat unlike the titanic
That is one ugly looking ship (if you can call it that) - it resembles a block of council flats perched on a barge. That aside hoping all on board are well and safe and have managed to avoid becoming part of an infected petri-dish. Modern cruise ships have become a disgusting symbol of human excess food consumption and indulgence.
Never been on one have you ?? Can't afford a ticket Can you??
