You can just buy the code on the www.gallupstrengthscenter.com website . You don't have to buy the book.

Mark when you buy the code you get the book with that in a electronic format. You can also buy a code for your talent themes 6-34. Also have a look at the Gallup assessment for entrepreneurs called Business profile 10 for 12 USD.
Many free resources on the Gallup website to help people who did the assessment.

It costs more just to purchase the test

Had the first book, and I think it did a good job describing my talents. Got 2.0 and nothing was changed. As an old guy, I'm the same guy I was when I was a young guy.

Nice review. Sucks to have to pay, especially for those of us with wildly inconsistent income. But I saw it in a print shop, or was it the UPS store, when living in Florida in 2008. Or was it 2009? So memory isn't one of my strengths :P Anyway, I found my top five to be Activator, Ideation, Futuristic, Significance, and Communication. Watching videos from CliftonStrengths a few minutes ago here on YT, Intellection and Restorative make good sense too. Apparently the more recent versions of this give you a top ten list, and more info, than when I did this ten years ago. I'm not sure about Activator for me.
Is this stuff accurate? Maybe. Maybe not. Perhaps it's like Tarot cards or astrology - there's the appearance of some sort of craft or science to it, but really it's just synapse-fodder to keep your mind busy with stuff having multiple interpretations, while some sort of useful true-like notion or conclusion bubbles up from the subconscious. The real test is if Clifton Strengths Finder can be repeatably used with some degree of statistical consistency on numbers of real people happily in their right careers and lifestyles. Has anyone done a study? Almost everything I read about it, is from the inventors of this test. Active communication of the results of independent third party studies in the future will be significant!
One important thing to note about Strengths Finder is that it's distinct from skills, such as photography or designing databases. And it's different from personality characteristics, like the Myers-Briggs. "Know Thyself" as some ancient philosopher once said.

I am still trying to figure out how to make these into "strengths" can use in everyday. Have a feeling will take awhile.

Any suggestions for books that can help you figure out what career you should pursue?

Not a book per say, but I made another video that may help:

I BOUGHT THE BOOK AT GOODWILL. The code was already used. UGH!!! I didn't notice it was a code inside.

Oh, that stinks! Someone told me recently that you can take the test online without buying the book, but I'm guessing it still costs $$$.

My wanting to upload to RUclips comes and goes. But I'll at the least try to upload once a week.

Mark Reviews yup sometimes I just feel like I need to make a whole bunch of videos and sometimes I just feel like having a big old break. But I need to upload at least once a week so I try not to take a huge break. 🙂

You're justifying it with vague interpretations based off your own experience. I'm not saying it's wrong I'm just saying it's a step up from astrology. 90% of these strengths I could find a way to apply It to something in my life.

I did not like it. I purchased the online book because it was required for school. It did not give me any more insight what I did not already know.

I will absolutely agree...this could easily have been an online-only test with no book needed. The only reason to buy the book is to get the code to unlock the test.

These are generalized terms no more helpful than reading your horoscope. I took the test and the only thing I remember I felt ripped off and thought it was waste of money.

It sounds like you had a good understanding of who you were and what your strengths were already. True, it's not earth-shattering insight, but it confirms what we and others think of us. Thanks for watching!
