"Indigenous people, worldwide, are connected"...
I like that.

You know Indigenous peoples day really teaches the importance of our multicultural society, and can teach us so many lessons. Multiculturalism and immigration is beautiful. Like when Europeans discovered the Americas and began migrating there en masse. Can you believe those poor indigenous folks had never experienced the wonder of both multiculturalism and the cultural and economic enrichment it provides prior to that?
Are you talking about indiginous or just aboriginals??
Indigenous people are about 5% of the population of Canada. How come they only get a day when gay people who are only 3% get a whole month and Black history 3.5% of Canadians are black also gets a month. We owe indigenous people at least a month, and the CBC should devote Prime airtime and budgets to indigenous history. We were never into slavery in a big way. Indeed remember the Underground Railroad. But we have been guilty until very recently of horrendous crimes bordering on attempted genocide against the first people of Canada.
