I lived in Victoria in the mid 1980's early 90's. Met some really sweet people. Worked at HB's. Had a friend name Don Hancock. He was a diamond in a ruff. Miss him till this day. Friend name Melissa, hope they are all happy and doing well. God bless. Thank you for the memories. Sharon
I lived near Victoria from 1962-1969. In 1962 I was 4 years old walking down main st Victoria with my mom and her friend. I saw two Nuns cross the street. I’d never seen nuns before so I shouted Witches Witches and pointed at them. LOL 😂 my mom was trying to cover my mouth but I wouldn’t stop. LOL 😂
I lived in Victoria right out of college; I worked for the University of Houston VC. Moved on to bigger and better things, but I loved it while I was there.
I do! I also remember, vaguely, twice a day mail delivery. When we would visit my great grandmother in another town she would be anticipating a letter from someone and when it wasn't in the morning delivery she would comment that she was hopeful it would be in the afternoon mail delivery. Of course as a kid I didnt get any mail so its not something I personally experienced.
When I graduated college in 1973, my first job as a newly hatched chemical engineer was at E.I. DuPont in Victoria, Tx. Great first job, but as you said more colorfully in the video “the climate was less than desirable.”
The Formosa plant near Victoria is not as toxic as you let on, they do regular testing at the areas around the plants there as well as in areas around the refinery's near Freeport. the gasoline at Sans in Victoria was $3.13 a gallon.
Yeah i was there 09-11 had a home at WindCrest, then we rented a home near the main drag. Worked at Mac Haik for a slimmy sales mgr. also its funny, i worked at that restaurant on top of that bank building, at the time it was called The Oak Room. Very expensive, horrible food. Out of all the places i lived that was my favorite. I was in my Ate 30’s, we, my EX and i had our 1st child we were rich, worked at Kaimans, not my favotie perso. To work for. Anyway, lole i said i loved it once upon a time.

My first meal for two over $100 was in Vancouver B.C. on vacation during 1974. I choked as though it was my week's worth of earnings!
