I don't think ninjas would wear this. They wouldn't even wear black. Rather dark green or blue. And in modern days they would wear military camo. The reason is that in non perfect dark conditions(the moon, stars, flames, etc.) still a little light is present and the surroundings reflect more light than someone who wears black, which leaves a very distinct silhouette. This effect would be even more prominent when wearing this kind of clothing.

Just like how my gray cat blend in much better to the darkness most of the time than my black cat.
Interesting philosophical discussion there. You could say darkness itself is a shadow, but then shadows (as we normally use it) are visible only in a bright place when it cannot be 100% dark. It is also true that it isn't anything (that it doesn't exist) because shadow and darkness are the default state of the world until light is present.

The stuff is cheap as hell too! The link he put in the description reveals that an A4 without glue is only JP¥1200 (the site is Japanese, so that's how I know it's not CN¥). That's about US$8.20. The materials for what he did here probably cost at most US$200.

actually as a former thief I have to say this is actually TOO dark, it would only be good on moonless nights and even then you would be even darker than the surroundings and would be sorta easy to see, you want to be wearing dark greys in urban or camo in rural! :)

Tried this on a project, don’t seem to be getting the same results you’ve advertised in this video. Tried the IR flock sheet with a temperature sensor - the MLX90640 and I was getting temperature readings of about 27c.
Also when putting on a flashlight at it, it reflects the light
That's because this video is color-graded in a way that makes the dark parts appear even darker ^(than they actually are). Compare his hair in this video with other videos. It's misleading tbh.
