Namaste ,when I started doing kollam 3 months back I found the most simple kollams difficult but as the days progressed I could see how much I have improved. I make a mix of rice flour and rice rava ( trial and error method ) so that it becomes easy flowing while making the kollam. Any women who find it difficult to do kollams on weekdays , can try doing very simple ones and on weekends try doing slightly difficult ones to improve their skills. The peace, calmness, the auspicious feeling that you notice within you and also in the home can't be described in words please try and do it to experience it🙏.
This is my experience and I hope it helps someone who may be in a similar situation like me. I cannot explain it in words about its calming effects. I have done freehand drawing for a decade. There was a time when I used to make portraits for the whole day. The drawings were perfect but I was not happy. I attracted negativity a lot and messed up my state of mind. But, kolam is very very beautiful. It makes you feel extremely happy. I get butterflies in my belly, every time I think of drawing a kolam and the front door looks so beautiful.
No words to text rather than saying hats off mam..please record as much as you can to this mankind ..Namaskaram to your parents and whoever has motivated you to become who your now
OMG, this video just came to me while scrolling. Big fan of Sinu here!!!! Without watching the whole video, here is a like! Seeing you is like finding a long lost friend…
This is by far the most beautiful explanation heard, thank you for letting the world know how beautiful our culture is. Could u also help us know the drawing s which were used for particular days.
Namaste. These are not standalone videos, and are based on the book Stri Dharma Paddhatih. Ideally, viewers should also read the book along with watching the discourses for a more comprehensive understanding. So before translating the videos, the book will have to be translated. We do not have the resources for such an effort at the moment. However, several readers are making an effort to read, listen and then translate it to their relatives in their language, which is a good way of going about it for now.
DhanyavaadaH Sinu Bhagini, Namaskaram 😊🙏🏽🔱🧡💖🌸 I have a question Bhagini: not all kolams are drawn as yantras…are kolams meant to be yantras, 100% of the time, with specific rules and injunctions? Second question: it’s very unlikely quartz powder is edible 😂 I heard that kolam drawn with rice powder (etc) is also meant for small creature to eat throughout the day. If this is true, then perhaps we shouldn’t use quartz powder? Om Sarasvatiyei namaHa 🔱🙏🏽
Namaste. Yes, as explained in the video and the book, not all kolams act as yantra-s based only on how it is drawn. However, even if it is aesthetic with the basics of proportion and symmetry being taken care of, and if the woman's thought is pure, it can serve a similar purpose. If the technicalities of the drawing is one part, the thought vibrations of the woman is another equally important aspect which makes it act as a yantra. Regarding the material, the ancient texts have mentioned both quartz and rice powder, so both can be used as preferred by the individual. The use of rice powder for ants, etc. is mentioned in the book as well. As for feeding insects, etc., that is covered as part of Vaisvadeva and Bali ritual and one can separately keep some sugar for ants if required. It is up to each individual. Please consider reading the relevant chapter from the book after each discourse, to get the doubts cleared. These things are already covered in the book. 🙏
I am not an very good in art but after understanding this science i started this practice few months before under maa’ s guidance and now Making kolam early morning and decorating it with flowers , makes our heart full of joy & mind become stable & peaceful … 🤍❤️
