I think Puerto Plata is better than Punta Cana, I look at Punta Cana like a family-type atmosphere. In Puerto Plata everything is within reach and so much more to do than just sosua, Just my opinion

MR Parker, Puerto Plata is a city. Punta Cana is a touristic spot. If you like the beach and they city then POP is for you. Like you said, Punta Cana is good for party and nice hotels. Mostly families and your people from USA, Canada, Asia and Europe go to Punta Cana.
