We received this in the mail today! The packaging was fine, no damage during shipping thank goodness! The construction was very simple ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXH3jIpsn6vpr3D26KWAriUejh7CSxVp7 , the bottom rocking part and the ottoman were already put together for us which is nice!As for the actual quality, the wood seems fine.. Not too cheap but maybe not the quality you would find in a store for 400$. However, it is still sturdy and feels secure. I've only had it for one night, so of course no squeaking yet.. But if it does squeak it could be easily oiled. The cushions are comfy, and made of a suede like material. Obviously with time these cushions will probably wear and tear.. But for the price of the chair it is still worth it just to go out and buy new cushions that fit in the future.Overall I am very satisfied, I was a little worried after reading some reviews and looking through the photos, but I'm happy I bought it! Obviously it's not a heavy-duty chair, but with care I'm hoping it will last a while.
Ahhh. So nice to find the perfect spring repair video after scanning a bunch of amateur videos. Excellent explanation, video, audio, and done in four minutes. A thousand likes for you. Thank you!
I had the same issue. The difference was the spring hooks were still attached. 5 of the 6 were simple to reattach. Thank you for this video and saving me a serious headache.
I had a sunken seat on my sofa, had know idea if/how to fix it! Watched this video and cut open bottom. The spring system was the same. The bracket hadn't broken, it had come away from the frame! I nailed it back on and it's as good as new. Thanks, your video was of great help.
Massively helpful brief video! Got a new but broken easy chair for free, and was racking my brain for how I could attach this clip from behind. Thank you for making great content!
I had already asked the landfill how much they wanted for a couch. My friends think I'm a fool for getting rid of a seemingly good couch. Time to flip this thing over. Thanks for sharing 🙏
That’s a great little instructional video. You’ve shown how easy it can be. Thanks. Unfortunately I have a recliner that is a little more hard to get to but the basis is the same.
THANKS, all the clips are under the chair and I didn't realize you could just put the replacement clips on the outside! Now I need to find out how to take the clip off that's still attached to the jute and wire because my spring has snapped in half and I need to remove it.
Love your site. I have learned so much. I am going to reupholster an old sitting chair. Could you do a video on tufted backs? Hope I am not getting in over my head🙃
You can throw it away. You don’t really need it. If you REALLY want one, you can go buy some non-woven interfacing from the fabric store and just staple it on with a staple gun. Regular fabric (in any color you want) is also an option, but go for the cheap stuff. No one is looking under your couch.
thank you aimee you just give me a great way to fix broken no sag springs in my car seat been trying to find someone to make a tool to form the U shape end that hooks in the frame but if i use those clips i can weld them and then hammer them closed and add a weld to keep them closed very clever idea :)
I was thinking of just giving away my late 1800s Victorian sofa because of a sunken spot from a spring "unspringing". Not sure if it's the same layout, but you got me thinking it's not something that needs an expert costing hundreds of dollars to fix. I'm going to lug it back into the house (just moved to an old house that it would look perfect in) - and turn it upside down and have at it. The worst that could happen is that we can't fix it but at least we'll be seeing how it is put together underneath. :)
Great video Amy, thanks! Any thoughts on how to repair a broken rod the springs are connected to on the bottom of an Ethan Allen armchair? This rod is 6 gauge or so.
Hi Aimee, could you make a video about, what makes a good sewing machine for upholstring. Including info about the foot, needles, treading. Thanks for your videos, very informative and served with a lovely smile and humor. Nice.
Just about to embark on my first re-springing journey! I was happy to see that it's OK to attach the clip in a slightly different spot as there is no way I could get to the same spot as the existing clip. Out of interest, having ripped off the dust cover, did you replace it? Thanks for such a useful video.
@@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio - quick supplementary question: my days of sofa bouncing are sadly over, but I'm a heavy guy! Is there any value in adding a few additional springs? Losing weight is also an option, I guess . . .
@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio job complete! It wasn't pretty, but it's very effective and feels like a new sofa! The nails supplied with the spring clips were pretty poor quality and the wooden frame was some kind of supertimber that didn't like getting nailed, but I got there. I just replaced the springs that were broken and there doesn't seem to be a need to add more (yet). Thanks again for the really useful video.
Hi 😊 really enjoying your videos ! I’m reupholstering a chair for the 1st time ! 🤞🏻...I came across Your channel whilst doing some research .. I’ve just watched this spring repair one and am now thinking of attempting to fix my sofa , but it has another set of small springs which attach to the main ones at the front and some of those are broken too 😕any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks 😊
You can replace those springs with twine. The point of them is so that the springs act as a unit, keeping them from moving side to side. I always tie them with twine. The springs are factory (quick cheap and easy) not custom.
I have a reclining sofa . I noticed one of the zigzag springs feels funny when you sit on it when I put up the recliner and looked underneath I can see like a coil spring sticking down through the black dust cloth . Any suggestions where to start .
Great videos. It looks lke the springs in this sofa are tied together with a horizonal line, and I see clips connecting the line to the spring. What kind of clips (loose term) are they? We need to replace the cross ties on our sofa. Thanks!
Yes, it looks just lk my deal ,one spring on a 2 row spring chair popped, but it didn't hv the clip still on it, I hvn't looked hard but it feels lk it's still in the chair, it seems the spring slip out of the clip, if that's possible? I lk the ole chair, I hope to find one if those clips😉THX
You are amazing, I admire you and your work. Thank you for your videos, I’m learning a lot from it. And at this point I would like to ask you about sewing machine. I need buy one but I have no idea which one I should choose?
So... I have a Victorian-era sofa... I've redyed the material as I cannot reupholster such a complicated piece...painted the wood (I know, I know...), but now it's sagging so much I cannot sit on it as ...stuff is coming out of the bottom and I fear falling straight through. Will this work just the same? I've already put wood underneath and it came out.
Thank you for the great video! If you can see a bump in the back of the couch from a spring, is this the same problem? I have two love seats with multiple bumps along the backs. I know it’s the springs because of how it feels when I push on them. (It is definitely from my children who can’t seem stop jumping on the couches. 🤦🏼♀️😅) Crossing my fingers that this is also an easy fix. 🤞🏻

Did you manage to sew back the bottom?
Thank u so much! You just saved me saved me from buying a new couch. I just fixed my couch because of you thank making this video.

Always a pleasure to see your smiling face no matter what's getting repaired.
Thank you so much! My husband is ready to send my favorite leather couch and love seat to the landfill. You may have saved their life
This is the best video I have watched that explained in a simple manner how to repair the spring in my couch. Thank you much !
Wow I watched a ton of videos and this is the one I actually needed 😂 I found a fairly new L shaped couch and I’m pretty excited about fixing it.
Thank you. I’m impressed at how few times you missed the nail with the hammer.

I have the same problem but I was trying to find a video that could attach a spring without pulling out all the foam/sponge, perfect thank you
Hey Amie,
You can buy regular "repair clips" that are pretty good.
A screw is better than a nail, too. (I do this for a living)
Have a good one!
Thanks!
I had already asked the landfill how much they wanted for a couch. My friends think I'm a fool for getting rid of a seemingly good couch. Time to flip this thing over. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you, worked like a charm!!
You have to pay in US for leaving your junk at the dumpster?
@@leob4403 You bring it to the town landfill for a fee, or you pay a fee for them to pick it up to junk it for you. Nothing free in the US.

Nice work. Simple and to the point. Thank you.
You rule. Had to use some creative hardware for clips and where to screw them in, but your vid made it clear what would work. And it did. Thank you!
Very good video, this was an easy repair.
Thankyou for this, it looks super-helpful. Is there any point in trying to preserve or replace the dust cover on the bottom , please?
Thanks! Very straight forward and to the point.

Recliners are just bolted together, if you want to fix it badly enough, you can.
Thank you for this video I'm definitely going to hunt down a clip and fix my spring myself.
That was so simple and easy to understand, thank you so much!
What a lifesaver! Or should I say couch saver! Good-lookin too!

Thanks! I'd wondered about the clips, and you answered all of my questions.
Fantastic advice, thank you so much for making this video!!
This video is very informative. I could use advice on replacing spring wires. All 3 have broken. Thanks.
I have a video for that too
Thank you so much for the video! Will attempt to repair my sofa soon. Wondering if 1inch or 1.5inch nails be better? Screws don't work huh?
You made that look so easy, I'm gonna attempt this today. Thank you.
Yes! My wildling “sprung” not 1 but 2 springs in my couch! Thanks for the tip!
This is sofa king great advice!
So glad I found this one ...
Did your spring break or did you like that it was a short one? 🤣

Would have liked to see you replace the dust cover.
