Beating Dark Souls 3 using ONLY Dark Souls 2 Equipment

- In this video, I beat Dark Souls 3 using only equipment from Dark Souls 2! This includes weapons, armor, rings, spells, and most consumables! To make it a little more challenging, I also am limiting ember usage AND am only allowed to use each weapon 3 times. This means, after beating 3 bosses with a weapon, I can't use it for any more bosses. So I'd better choose carefully! This might be too light to really be called a "challenge", so maybe it's more of a themed playthrough or weapon showcase? Regardless, I still face many challenges in this run and had so much fun! Feel free to suggest improvements and ideas for future videos!
The allergies strike again...hopefully you can still hear my voice. Something went wrong with the music fade-out near the end, I don't know what was going on there, apparently my audio mixing is still a work in progress...

If you think about it, both the Estus Shard and the Undead Bone Shard were both introduced in Dark Souls 2. I always forget that in Dark Souls 1, we had to kindle Bonfires and use Firekeeper Souls.
Undead bone shard is literally the same effect as the fire keeper soul though. So DS2 only introduced the shards
@aspaceproductions which means that we can use the bone shards because ds2 introduced them...

You can actually get Creighton's armour set as well as his Axe. Once you kill him, his set will be on a corpse on the bridge near where you help Sirris fight him.
And I never found it, even though I have 300+ hours on it....
@@PersonGuy968 the requirement is helping Sirris fight him, so if you don't do that..
While not exactly a challenge run, these videos are very creative. More than the usual challenge run content, and for a channel just starting it's incredibly high quality! Looking forward to the future, another fantastic channel to join the ranks

Fun fact: you don't actually have to beat the cathedral to enter the catacombs, the doll is only so you can pass the light wall on the boreal valley bridge
Edit: you said you couldn't fight watchers before sage, when in reality you can kill both wolnir and the boss in the "secret" area
Yep, that’s true! This time I wanted the free levels from Yoel and he dies if you fight abyss watchers, so I wanted to do those areas first

Hey, glad you popped up on my home page, this was fun to watch! Seeing you shrug off the "rule breaking" so you can just have fun instead of backing up saves and being strict about no embers is a good thing to keep these runs far more fun and silly rather than back breakingly difficult. Good stuff!
I actually wanted to do this in my most recent run but ended up getting distracted by the artor spear.
Doing this challenge with the Cinders mod installed seems like it would be even more fun, since there are so many added weapons and armor pieces from DS2 included

I enjoy fighting Pontiff 'ate my stamina bar' Sullyvahn without parrying personally, but it's always fun seeing someone parry him into oblivion even if I don't do it myself

The Crystal Sage(s) are twins, one male and one female who were taught Crystal Sorceries by Big Hat Logan. That's why they have Cystal magicks and the aforementioned big hats to honor him. The one in Farron is Male since he is bald while the one in the Archives is Female, since she has long brown hair.

@@eleumloyceeAlso I didn't say it in my last comment but I loved this playthrough! A real welcome spin on the generic "Can you beat X Game without being hit / Without dealing damage?" Challenge Runs, they get so tiresome and samey. It was fun watching you having to figure out what you could and couldn't use considering the extremely tight ruleset. Hopefully you'll do something like this for the other Dark Souls games (something like "Can you beat Dark Souls 1 with only weapons that appear in the other games"), or something similar for another kind of game.

Love your videos! There's lots that could be pointed out as to why but I think what especially does it for me is honestly just how chill you and your vids are. There's lots of attention seeking stuff out there with everything dialed up to 11. But here, you just let everything take it's time and speak for itself. It's just you, the game and some awesome creativity and it's just really refreshing and honestly peaceful stuff :))

Liking these so far, especially leaning into themes and the like to make them more interesting than something more simple like using just one weapon or spell through an entire game(at least personally, makes those all very boring in a vacuum).
Reminds me of how I sometimes like to do mono-Type runs in Pokémon or doing cosplay runs. Sometimes they’re not always that hard, but I end up getting to use things I normally never would, and like with these vids, I get to learn something new(which is usually not the case with a lot of runs for me).
I agree, I like runs that force you to switch up your gear. I've only done 1 run so far where I stick to the same thing most of the time (the gravelord miracle run). They may not be inherently difficult, but they are always fun right? :D

One of my fave ones was doing a Havel cosplay run in DS3 in both NG and NG+, had to eventually get the full set and gear(which ofc requires getting to Archdragon Peak). From the beginning gave myself the restriction that until I could get there I had to use only great hammers and greatshields, with full armour so that I was fat rolling the whole time, and spent a while after getting Havel’s.
Was surprisingly fun as I usually play a UGS, medium roll and fashion souls, so I had to get used to the fat rolling, great hammer movesets and utilizing blocks(which I always felt was horrible in 3, stamina just always disappeared too quickly since stuff tends to be more aggressive).
And as an aside, even used that character in co-op with a friend cuz it was just fun to use(accidentally ended up summoned for the Halflight fight as the boss which was funny. Totally got destroyed by a three man gank squad, but still amusing).
This is definitely one of the most interesting runs I’ve seen in a while, the commentary was pretty good as well, I’ll definitely stick with this channel for a bit!
I finally acquired and beat DS3, meaning I can now watch all these playthroughs that seem to be coming out lately
