I don't always carry a knife but I do keep an "EMS" type shears (scissors) with me. They will cut through anything, harness straps, slack fishing line, even cut thin aluminum with them before and they don't seem to ever get dull.
I don’t use back plate but have a couple of different BC jackets and one of them lacks of D rings and the few it has are in such an awkward place. However the rubber bands ideas is gonna be a way to fix some issues I’m having. Thanks a lot! Cheers Mate 👌🏻
Sorry about the late response, somehow I missed your reply. I've seen people use these on BCDs with less d-rings than they want. They're a little harder to hit with your bolt snap then a large d-ring, but if you aren't constantly using that piece of gear 9like a DSMB or other suface signaling device) then they should work well. www.amazon.com/Acrux7-Carabiner-Stainless-Carabiners-Connector/dp/B07CWNYGK3/ref=sr_1_14_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=detachable+d+ring+stainless&qid=1623088161&sr=8-14-spons&psc=1&smid=A1J3S7TLE8VWXU&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyQkdGQlU4STk1UEQxJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUExMDM0NDUzRTdYTUNOVlhKVzBJJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxODYzNDQzUVgySjJFTTRJMTM0JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfbXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
@@DiveVibe thanks a lot for your response. I’m happy to read your message as few days ago I went to a place here in Australia (Bunnings Warehouse) and got myself a pair of these carabiners and work just fine.
How about replacing nylon cable ties (sun oxidizes) with stainless steel? Also, using LCD inspection camera to view the inside of bladder of BCD ( vest, wing, etc.? )
Great tip with the rubber bands. Love the channel 😁 I recently returned from Mexico, spent 2 months diving the cenotes of the Riviera Maya, these are now under threat from the" tren Maya" a railway under construction that will loop 1500km from Cancun to Tulum, cutting through the jungle and directly over the cenote river system. The environmental impact on this sensitive biosystem will be catastrophic, there is nowhere else in the world quite like it. Although work is suspended for the moment ( due to action from a group of cave divers) the Mexican president is keen for the railway to be completed by December 2023. Would it be possible for you to do a video about this issue to raise awareness among the diving community. Many thanks👍
Just found your channel and subscribed, great video. Do you know where I could find those clip-on lights I clicked on the link in the video but they're not available.
www.divegearexpress.com/dgx-300-mini-light-kit Here you go! You have to attach the clip yourself. It's called a bolt snap, for lights like this I use a size small and I attach it with cave line (braided nylon line) or a zip tie if im in a hurry. Thanks!
Any tips on adding attachment points to recreational jacket BCDs? I need more clip off points or need to add a D ring inside one of my pockets at least
Stainless steel quick links are your best friend for adding attachment points on rec BCDs. Just search "quick link" on Amazon and make sure they're stainless steel.
Hi, great video! On which plate is you Apeks wing mounted? Apeks is out of stock for plates in Europe and I have no idea which alternative brand I could mount the wing on...
Mine is deep outdoors, but just about any wing will work. Hollis, Dive Rite, Halcyon, and most others should work. I do recommend a single tank adapter, a lot of wings these days have "stabilizers" but they just don't work as well as a single tank adapter.
@@DiveVibe Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer! My dilemma came from the fact that I was unsure whether the cam band slots for the wing and the plate would align or not.

@@DiveVibe Thank you! I just got a setup like the one you were using to show your hacks - I have the 5 lb stainless plate but still have to add air to my wing to stay off the bottom (my lungs aren't enough). I think I'll switch it out for the aluminum and add a 2lb to the tank or something. Any other suggestions?

Great idea
That idea for the snorkel is fantastic!!! Thanks!
Great video, I'm new to diving and just bought a BCD, your tips are extremely helpful. I subscribed and look forward to more of your videos.
great tips!
trilobite cutters also have pouches that slide on to the BC straps, very handy.
And ceramic blade never rusts!
Snorkel idea is amazing ❤
Love that snorkel tip!
In my "ouch pouch" I carry (1) Cat 7 tourniquet,(1) swat-t tourniquet,(1) vile of Divesoft Fluorescein Marker Dye,and a glass survival mirror.
Great job! I like the bolt snap trick.
Thanks Ernie! I find it very useful.
Yep. Your local bike shop will be HAPPY to give you as many used bike innertubes as you can carry. It's not only the frugal choice, YOU'RE RECYLING!
Technically it's reusing not recycling but still environmentally friendly
nice work man, love the added comedy lol

What brand and model? I might be able to come up with something a little better.
Mares Origin. Is the older model of the one that comes with a side pocket power inflator instead of an ergo with power inflator hose.

You should replace your zip ties on your snorkel with bungee. That’s how I roll
