Makita/Festool rails follow up - the entire base on the Milwaukee saw can be loosened and slid over to flush up with existing splinter guards, without having to replace it 👍🏽
Nice. I already have a festool ts55, but I also have some m18 HO 6.0 batteries, and the bare tool is very affordably priced... I may end up with one as a second tracksaw if it ends up being part of the buy more save more sales later on.
This saw ruclips.net/user/postUgkx84IcU5pbZd1Qrz8u4-YRLmJax7kdRi7B comes in handy in many ways. When I had a small (dead) tree fall I started the process of disposal by using this saw and cutting off the small branches. Then slowly work on the small trunk with undercutting and letting it fall down. With many trees on acres of land paying for a tree service can be expensive. It also is nice in that it can be used in hard to get areas like along my creek. It's also safer and quieter than a chainsaw. It obviously can't cut down massive trees but it does work fine for small ones or brush. And of course since I already own a Black
Thanks for the review, John. I've been like so many others, waiting to see Milwaukee jump into the Track Saw game. From what you showed, they took several of the good parts of other saws and built them into their system.
As an aspiring hopefully soon homeowner, this thing might just be a purchase in the future to make cabinet storage that the Mrs wants..plus I get to have a new toy..but it's for the house honey I swear
Hey John. The saw looks like it does what its supposed to. I took a look at Festool and they have packages that include tracks, obviously at a higher price point. It would be good to see your opinion of the saw after you've used it with the tracks you ordered. Maybe you can do a price comparison of saws with the same setup to see what that best bargain is assuming quality is at least close. Thanks for the introduction.
The Milwaukee is $140 cheaper compared to the cordless Festool for this same type of kit - saw, box, charger, battery, blade. Looks like they have several different kit options you can get with tracks too. From what I’m seeing, comparing apples to apples with what’s included, the Milwaukee is running $110-150 less on all the options
I can't wait to see all the comparisons too. Just bought into Makita's XGT line late 2021 specifically for their 40v track saw and 8 1/2" sliding miter, a bit bummed since I had to invest in yet another battery platform but I prefer their leaf blower and love the air duster. I love how this comes with a packout box with nice foam molding compared to Makita's cheap plastic mold and there's at least have the option of carrying some batteries + charger if you bring it somewhere.
@@ericmann1781 I think it's going to be compared to the Festool track saw as they are the standard pretty much these days. Every maker starts out with other brands and then feel they have to explain why you now see them with Festool tools. If Milwaukee can perform good with this setup, saving the $150-$200 is going to be the decision if its worth going with Milwaukee instead of Festool.
@@michaelshelnutt3534 I agree with you. I have many Bosch tools as well as Milwaukee. I used to have only Dewalt drills, saws, etc. I changed to Milwaukee because I liked how rugged they were and I thought they did a great job at a lower price point. The issue currently is, you see someone who builds and uses a Triton, Makita, Dewalt or a brand other than Festool, they don't make a bid deal out of it. But as soon as they get that Festool piece of equipment, they are sure to mention it. Tamar from 3x3 Customs just referenced her "brand new amazing Festool chop saw". Makers who used dowels or some other kind of loose tenon joinery all of a sudden show up with a Festool domino and you can bet your bottom dollar they showcase it on a project. But then they apologize for having such an expensive piece of equipment by saying this can be done other ways not using dominos!! Whatever Festool has done with it's marketing is amazing. Their tools ARE excellent and many of them are better than what's out there. But you have to mortgage your house to buy them! But while I agree with what you are saying, a company needs to come up with a piece of equipment that is better than Festool, hands down. When this happens, maybe then will it start to change.
I have a lot of Milwaukee tools but I’ll stick with my Makita. Love that thing even more than my Festool track saw. Though they’re not the first to do so I still think it’s was pretty darn cool of Milwaukee to make their saw to fit other brands tracks.
Can you share your dust collection connectors? I have the Rockler ones and they come off and are hard to attach at times. That click clip made me smile!
Another reviewer said you can adjust the Milwaukee to fit on that strip by adjusting the pad opposite the larger ones that tighten/loosen the saw to the track.

The last few years, I've been switching out my cordless tools to Milwaukee & am thinking about the Milwaukee Track Saw. I wonder if it will work with my Grizzly tracks.
Wish Milwaukee had thought through the case. I don’t carry a charger for every tool. Truthfully I have a battery charger and battery case in the van. Ideally a much smaller case holding the: (1) track saw (2) all blades available (at least 4 slots) (3) all saw accessories that attach to the saw (4) instruction manual holder that is sealed until needed. Good indepth review, just got the one question. Does the milwaukee track saw have an anti kickback feature. Where the blade will stop if the saw lifts up from the track. I am sure I have seen this feature on one of the other brands. I am in the market for a track saw and will certainly be considering this one. I have just purchased the dewalt dws 780 mytre saw, the reviews you did on that model certainly help me out when choosing what mytre saw to go for. So far I love it just need to upgrade to the blade that ot came with. A big thanks for the indepth info you have given on the dws 780.
Yup, I’m definitely one of those “lot of people” that have been waiting on this track lol. Looks like a beast. Also… what kind of quick connect vacuum hose system you got there 👀
There are two more adjustments you can make on the base that will eliminate the need to replace the black strips and enable bevellomg perfection depending on what track you are using i.e. Festool Makita etc.
I just looked over it closer, and I still can’t adjust the saw over in the direction that I need for this Makita rail. So my original solution of just replacing the splinter guard stands. His festool track just may be a little different
Any suggestion I don’t know whether to buy this Milwaukee track saw or the 55 festool track saw any suggestion I have 4 Milwaukee batteries I live Milwaukee but I don’t know what to buy I
@@JohnBuildsIt I like the cordless stuff, and for tools you use every day it’s a no brainer. But imagine having this beauty in like new condition when the new battery format comes out.
@@Everythingisgoingtobealright I'm sure at that point, Milwaukee will then sell us a 110 to M18 Adapter. It would be really simple, a short cord to a DC Adapter and then a Cord to what would look like the old 2amp Hour battery. Looks a Good tool, but in Ireland the kit and rails set aew as expensive as the Festool cordless kit.I would not imagine many people will buy it for that reason alone

Haven’t looked at any other track saws, saw this one online and doesn’t come with the track, unless you buy a “kit” do all other track saw brands sell their tracks separately too? Or at least come with one when buying the saw?
I have had an TSC55 for going on 4 years now, and sure it cuts great, but festool batteries suck. I've had to replace 4 of them so far. They keep dying on me for some reason. And I'm really not a fan of having to use 2 batteries. I use milwaukee and the makita 40v platform as well. The makita saws cut better hands down, although I've never used their track saw. I'm entertaining the idea of getting rid of the festool TS and getting a makita TS to replace it....or maybe the milwaukee, but I like makita saws more.
@@Kevin-mp5of it's the festool batteries that suck. After just over 3 years, I've had to replace 4 5.2amp batteries. At $135 a piece, it's starting to get old. Guess what ones I've had ZERO issues with, my milwaukee and makita batteries, still going strong with not one yet returned. A tool is only good if it works. I wish they had updated the festool saw to have a few features of the makita. A single battery is what is attracting me to the makita track saw, considering I already have 40v tools and batteries, along with plenty of festool tracks to go with.

@@JohnBuildsIt gahh your making me want to switch. What battery you running enthusiast it? have you tried any accessories from the makita tracks on the Milwaukee? I've got the track clamps and a right angle attachment, as well as the wall mounts and would hate to repurchase.
So last year Milwaukee introduced the new battery vacuum and the track saw both are very nice, but I have to say that I am very disappointed and surprised that neither one have Bluetooth technology when it has been out so long and their competitors offer it and they are charging a premium price for the tools. They keep saying they are the disrupters in the industry but being the last to market and not even offering technology that is now several years old is not a good sign.
I love the 40v but the Milwaukee is the platform I have the most batteries for. They typically make a good tool so I don’t doubt it’s great. That’s my only drawback is brand loyalty. Either way, the 40 v is no slouch
So I knew it was coming but they hadn’t set a release date when I purchased mine. I had some projects I wanted to use it on, and got the Makita at a good price. I have no complaints other than the battery platform. 40v vs 18 volt has to be a difference in power so if a Milwaukee has no issues cutting 2 inch hardwood, then I should slice right through no issue
Nice, concise review. And seems like a good product. But how can someone justify this ‘track saw’, if you already a) are skilled using a chalk line. b) own a job site/ table saw. C) already have a stand alone track saw device ala kreg accu-cut products?
@@JohnBuildsIt I’m not betting against you! Laughs, this tool is real eye candy. It’s just that in the last 2 years I’ve brought 2 circular saws & a table saw. So I’m running out of hiding spaces. You know what I mean!
A couple comments. One, Milwaukee apparently thinks they are Festool with the pricing for this saw. I knew it would be pricey, but come on. Two, when it comes to rails, buy third party. Milwaukee for some reason made the short tracks way too short, and the costs of the complete track system is again, too pricey. If you need a good, but less expensive track saw, get the Makita. If you want the gold standard, buy Festool. If you want to add to Milwaukee's profit, buy this one. And that's coming from me, someone who owns a complete line of Milwaukee cordless tools.
I understood that Festool is not that pricey once began to compare with another brands. If you compare with something with the same features and quality, it is almost the same price o even less. Most important - Festool is a complete system, and you don't have to spend $$$ on all the adapters.
I'm sure Milwaukee will sell a bunch of these saws bc ppl love their red brand but I didn't see anything here that completely differentiated their saw from any other brand. I'd say it isn't worth the wait. I bought the Makita a couple years ago and have used the shit out of it. Can't imagine having to wait all this time for something that's not any better
One thing I can’t understand on Milwaukee is why all the saws they make are for left handed people,I can’t stand it,the handle should be on the opposite on how it’s now ,are all the Americans left handed?

I guess what I’m saying is regardless of what box it’s in it could be used for other tools ultimately a box is a box. It would seem to be more efficient to just not have it in a box at all I take all of my batteries out of the boxes. But like I said if it works for you I apologize.
Does having the battery in the saw help with how stiff the spring is?
Not really. I was just used to my several year old Makita that’s definitely worn in haha. I’m used to the Milwaukee now
Powertec tracks are compatible with makita do you think they’ll work with Milwaukee as well
I would assume so, but don’t know for sure
Good indepth review, just got the one question. Does the milwaukee track saw have an anti kickback feature. Where the blade will stop if the saw lifts up from the track. I am sure I have seen this feature on one of the other brands. I am in the market for a track saw and will certainly be considering this one. I have just purchased the dewalt dws 780 mytre saw, the reviews you did on that model certainly help me out when choosing what mytre saw to go for. So far I love it just need to upgrade to the blade that ot came with. A big thanks for the indepth info you have given on the dws 780.
Has the riving knife to help prevent it, but no it doesn’t have the feature where it shuts off
Are the track rails compatible with Woodpeckers track square and parallel guides?
My tso products one is, so I would bet yes
So the makita will run ok on the Milwaukee tracks ?
Yea it will
Yup, I’m definitely one of those “lot of people” that have been waiting on this track lol. Looks like a beast. Also… what kind of quick connect vacuum hose system you got there 👀
amzn.to/3J2Utpw
Looks great, but I do not at all regret getting the Makita, even though all my wireless tools are Milwaukee.
It’s a great saw!
Well done vid
Thanks Kent!
There are two more adjustments you can make on the base that will eliminate the need to replace the black strips and enable bevellomg perfection depending on what track you are using i.e. Festool Makita etc.
What would that be?
@@westsidewil look at 3:08 in the video. He mentions the rail adjustment knobs.
I just looked over it closer, and I still can’t adjust the saw over in the direction that I need for this Makita rail. So my original solution of just replacing the splinter guard stands. His festool track just may be a little different
Follow up to my follow up haha, the entire base on the Milwaukee can be loosened and slide over to flush up with the Makita splinter guard 👍🏽
If I am not mistaken, this xl box has a handle?
Yea!
@@JohnBuildsIt is it the same as the XL box thats been available for awhile now? I mean strictly the dimensions of it??
Nice video!
Thanks!
Good 🔧 🔨
Great review!!
Dose the anti tip feature work with the Makita track when you cut on a 45’ will the saw tip out??
Yea it works 👍🏽
Perfect thanks
I watched other videos and it’s showed the saw tipping out of the track when the anti tip was fully out
Any suggestion I don’t know whether to buy this Milwaukee track saw or the 55 festool track saw any suggestion
I have 4 Milwaukee batteries I live Milwaukee but I don’t know what to buy I
I can’t compare to the festool because I don’t know, but all I can say is the Milwaukee has been very, very impressive
Will they make a corded version?
I doubt it. I can’t remember the last time I saw Milwaukee make a new corded tool
@@JohnBuildsIt
I like the cordless stuff, and for tools you use every day it’s a no brainer.
Or an extension cord to the shell of a 6 or 12 amp hour battery, with the DC Adapter inside.
@@ThePTBRULES
Maybe, I just buy corded versions of specialized tools.
If I was using them everyday, that would be different.
Looks a Good tool, but in Ireland the kit and rails set aew as expensive as the Festool cordless kit.I would not imagine many people will buy it for that reason alone
Just depends what battery platform you’re mainly on I suppose!
Curious? What vacuum hose and connections were you using?
amzn.to/3J2Utpw
@@JohnBuildsIt Thank you very much John!!
It looks like a Festool track saw painted red.
pretty sure you can adjust the milwaukee saw on the bottom to make it cut just like the makita.
Follow up to my follow up haha, those black bars aren’t adjustable, but the entire base on the Milwaukee can be loosened and slide over to flush up with the Makita splinter guard 👍🏽
@@JohnBuildsIt thanks for the feed back ,it didn't look to have much adjustment, thats cool you figured it out. now you can know both saws will cut the same. waiting on mine to arrive. i ordered the tracks as well.
Thanks for the review and your thoughts on it!! 👍👌🍻🍻..to a new subscriber !
Thanks for watching! 👊🏼
Haven’t looked at any other track saws, saw this one online and doesn’t come with the track, unless you buy a “kit” do all other track saw brands sell their tracks separately too? Or at least come with one when buying the saw?
They’re all similar and offer different versions of kits, just the bare saw, etc
Can’t beat Festool.
Thanks for the review. Can't wait to buy mine and use it for some builds!
🙌🏼🙌🏼
I like Milwaukee but I’m sure it’s very expensive knowing the brand but thank you for reviewing it. I’d like to see you talk about your quick clip dust connections and hoses. I bought the exact same ones but haven’t used them yet, I will soon though
Price wise it’s right in line with the other brands!
Thank you, I checked and the saw itself is $399, not for the tracks but I’m surprised I thought it’d be a lot more. It’s not that much over the Ryobi.
Very very nice thorought review man youve got one new subscriber here👍
Thanks man!
Maybe Flex will come out with one.
Praise the lord it’s finally here
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Have you tried it with a regular battery?
just the 6.0
very very cool😱😱😃
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Where ya at brotha!? We're patiently waiting on another great vid from you soon I hope! 😎
Should be next week! 👍🏽 life’s been hectic haha
If you had to go Makita or Milwaukee, based just on the tool alone, not price, or what platform you have, etc., which would you choose?
Definitely liking the Milwaukee more than my Makita 36v
@@JohnBuildsIt more power? Lower weight? Both? Better cuts?
@@eljefe38theboss yea noticeably more power with only one battery versus having to have 2. All the adjustments are just easier/faster to do. The Milwaukee tracks and connectors are better quality and I’ve been super impressed with the Milwaukee blades. I don’t like the ultra thin kerf Makita blades, but after upgrading those I’d say the cut quality is the same
@@JohnBuildsIt gahh your making me want to switch. What battery you running enthusiast it? have you tried any accessories from the makita tracks on the Milwaukee? I've got the track clamps and a right angle attachment, as well as the wall mounts and would hate to repurchase.
@@eljefe38theboss I have the tso products right angle and it works on both. I imagine most accessories should
Seems to cut plywood good. I wonder how it would cut cheaper material like solid gold or diamonds.
😂😂no kidding
Will this fit the DeWalt track
I don’t think so. Doesn’t the Dewalt track have 3 grooves? These have one
All my tools are Milwaukee but idk about this one. Don’t think I can justify it lol.
Another year later we will get in Australia....
Our date got pushed back several times haha
May i know this item package size please
P x L x W and weight
Thank in advance
So last year Milwaukee introduced the new battery vacuum and the track saw both are very nice, but I have to say that I am very disappointed and surprised that neither one have Bluetooth technology when it has been out so long and their competitors offer it and they are charging a premium price for the tools. They keep saying they are the disrupters in the industry but being the last to market and not even offering technology that is now several years old is not a good sign.
Definitely would be nice!
I bought the XGT Makita 40v. Wish I waited
I’m really curious how the 40v Makita compares to my 36v. The 2 batteries can be a pain sometimes lol
I can’t talk you into buying tools you don’t need or want. But I can almost guarantee once you have one, you’ll wish you would’ve got one sooner haha
@@JohnBuildsIt I’m not betting against you! Laughs, this tool is real eye candy. It’s just that in the last 2 years I’ve brought 2 circular saws & a table saw. So I’m running out of hiding spaces. You know what I mean!
@@JohnBuildsIt that is a FACT!! and you'll never go back!! Track saws are a no-brainer! 👍
How did it feel power wise going through that hardwood?
Plentiful. I’ve tried to push faster and stall it and couldn’t
@@JohnBuildsIt AWESOME!
Love my Cen-Tec dust collection system from Amazon!

New sub here
Thanks for watching!
The Milwaukee is $10 more than Makita, and $140 less than festool for the same kits.
I understood that Festool is not that pricey once began to compare with another brands. If you compare with something with the same features and quality, it is almost the same price o even less. Most important - Festool is a complete system, and you don't have to spend $$$ on all the adapters.
ridiculously large box for it, not everybody works in a barn sized woodshop
Don’t have to buy the kit with box then
I'm sure Milwaukee will sell a bunch of these saws bc ppl love their red brand but I didn't see anything here that completely differentiated their saw from any other brand. I'd say it isn't worth the wait. I bought the Makita a couple years ago and have used the shit out of it. Can't imagine having to wait all this time for something that's not any better
Not any better is a stretch haha but ya I get what you’re saying. Hard to justify for people that already have a track saw and don’t need one
One thing I can’t understand on Milwaukee is why all the saws they make are for left handed people,I can’t stand it,the handle should be on the opposite on how it’s now ,are all the Americans left handed?
All track saws are like this lol. And Milwaukee makes both left and right blade regular circular saws.
No new Ideas, just copying other companies with some from that, some from this.
battery operated saws are weak and under perform then corded ones!!!!!
Calm down man lol
Boy they sure do SHINE tho when you have NO power on the job!!!!...really still need to explain this to ppl....🤨🍻
In UK we have black box 😢 red one looks better
And guys over here want the black ones haha
