Tbh I think the current fascination with "ugly" clothes is a direct reaction to years of being told that everything colorful or interesting is tacky.
People are fed up with wearing souless beige backrooms garments out of fear, and they're using deliberately "ugly" clothes to break out of that cage and hoon off into the great unknown where they can wear something with character.

No really, at a certain point i realized why i love this guys vids when compared to like Tim dessaint or other RUclipsrs, he has no definite structure that he reveals. It feels organic, so I’m not expecting any “moving onto the third way to style this black Uniqlo basic piece”, instead I just get to enjoy this funny guy talk about his take.
And at the end of it all I realize I’ve learned almost nothing and I’m not disappointed and it’s 3 am and I should be asleep! THATS what makes a RUclipsr good

It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized how many people take fashion seriously and actually pay close attention to the clothes that people wear. As someone who wears sweatpants or basketball shorts and a plain black tee or plain white tee practically every day I just never really understood it but I'm starting to.

There is a famous saying here where i live (brazil) that says "é igual um acidente de carro, é horrível mas não consigo parar de olhar" (its just like a car accident, its horrible but i just cant stop looking at it). This is the phrase about ugly clothes, when someone appers you just cant stop looking at it.

Aw hell nah some fits are just flat out UGLY no matter who you are or how you style it. Most of the time it's just rich people bored with their exorbitantly wealthy lives and in turn use "fashion" as a way to rebel against stereotypes about them by pretending to be original and trendy.
I'm perfectly fine with the idea that the people who I find to be hilariously bad at clothes (made 10x more hilarious by the fact that they could well have paid four figures for those clothes) might think I'm uncultured.

What bothers me the most is how fits are messed up in mainstream fashion stores, it's insane. When I used to go to Zara or COS I was sure I could find clothes that were decent quality and that had good fits. Now every time there is a COS new drop I make a video mocking my least favorite items there for my friends. I feel like fashion companies embrace the idea that we are all fools and we will swallow every bullshit collection they make.
