One very clever guy who has me mesmerised with his knowledge. True professional. Had thought of getting into CB radio as I spend a lot of time on the road and ended up on this channel. Trouble is that after watching you dissecting new radios and having to tune them to get the best out of them, I must admit I am now wary of taking the plunge. Just wanted a decent quality starter radio but now unsure what to do. Never mind. Look forward to your next project.
Knights at Kirton always do a quick pre-delivery tuneup on all the sets they sell, and my experience of the Thunderpole sets bought from thunderpole is also that they work right. Retail shops & mail order/ebay with no technical people & who just shift boxes are unfortunately the Norm. Back in 1981 when UK CB cam in, shops like Argos, Woolworths & Boots were stupid enough to sell them. I bet their returns were huge. Bear in mind all aerials have to have the SWR adjusted & not doing so usually ends in the CB set's output transistor being destroyed & not covered by warranty...a bit like buying a car & then crashing it isn't. Those retailers must have lost money hand over fist as they wouldn't know about installation criteria. Richard, G0OJF, UK
Wow didn’t expect a reply like that. A true gentleman. I will take your good advice on board (excuse the pun) and look forward to getting sorted in the very near future. Keep safe. Thank you.
@@mikerim6861 Thank you. I can now make a choice in the comfort of knowing that my purchase will be operating as it should. Makes sense to buy from those who actually work with the product.
@@mikerim6861 i've been to Knights and if what i saw in store is his tune up and alignment equipment he uses you'd be better off buying blind off ebay.
When I saw the thumbnail for this video I thought what a shocking radio. Looks can be deceiving though. It actually looks really well made. You lost me while you were tuning up the receive but I sort of got what you were trying to do. Great result though. That’s an awesome sinad figure. Transmit is slightly down but not enough to worry about. Love the 2 meters as well. Regards Graham
Mr C poked his head round the door whilst I was recording. I'd got the the bit where I was saying "As you can see it's got 2 Meters". Mr C was taken aback for a moment thinking it did 145Mhz somehow! Richard

@@ronaldmartin2274 Richard is spot on! Knights tune up and adjust all new CB radios much the same as Richard does on here!

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 that was exactly my reaction!
Love It, I feel like I need to take out my old Day-Glo ski clothing!!!
Well, that’s a 59 for being green! Interesting choice of colour.
This set is crying out for a 27/81 conversion!
Well it isn't legal to do so, so that's that.
