    Oh Johnny. This one hit me hard. I just ended a 6-year-old relationship and these places you showed were and are our favorite places in the whole world. I'm Swiss and I don't know how many times I made the trip through the alps to Como. We had an amazing time and memories in those places and each scene of your video brought me back to my happy place. I'm crying, and laughing, and smiling and probably nothing I say now makes sense. It really touched a place in my heart I didn't know a youtube video could. I'm not sure I'll be able to finish the video. Maybe another time. Thank you.

      Johnny Harris you definitely need money to take enough time off of work to be able to travel abroad. Even if all of your expenses are paid for, just being able to spend the time is more than many people can do.
      Fortunately I don’t have to take time off of work, because I live in some amazing mountains.

      It is especially hard for people who need to work more than one job.

    As a Swiss citizen, I feel very flattered to see such videos, to see how much my country is - more often than not - appreciated abroad. But very rarely the French-speaking part of Switzerland, which has so much to offer!

    I’m from this region, and I live most of my life in Lugano there. I really have to say that you totally had captured the feeling that that place can transmit you. But it’s also strange, because I used to feel the opposite of you: I felt that I have to run away by the closeness of that place. And now that I live far away for the most of my year, I’m experiencing something new and more similar to your feeling. It’s like you captured that new feeling that I’m experiencing now.
    So this video was really intense for me, thank you

    • @docdisco42
      @docdisco42 5 лет назад +9

      I've experienced this too. We often undervalue what we have and think other places are better, even when we have it all and have a lot. I too used to think that way. I live in Northern Italy and moved for a short time to the UK thinking how much better would life be there.
      I shortly realized that I had it all here in Italy, so I came back. From this experience I learned to appreciate what we have and own, and stop thinking that life is way better in other places, because that's not true: every place has something to offer, and Italy and Switzerland have a lot to offer food/culture/landscape wise. Lots and lots of beautiful places in those regions.

    I have to say: I agree every bit of what you said. Grew up in the Himalayas and now living in the north European plains. So any trip to the Alps or the Sierra Nevada in Spain feels so relaxing. Mountains are what I miss the most from home after the cuisine. Walking through a fog along the mountains is the most relaxing experience that could ever exist.
    Same is true for unplanned adventure. Trips that are planned in detail feel more stressful than work. I would typically have a few goals (places I want to visit) in mind but these would just require less than half the time I have available in the trip - so I have the flexibility to take that unexpected hike.

    Mountains have the power of reminding you that, whatever you are in life, there is something more powerful than you. I am Italian, from Venice, lived in London for 7 years, now 6 in Amsterdam, chasing some kind of job security, and financial stability. But my mum is from the exact area you pictured here, and every year I go, during summer, to take a few days off. And I got to say, in the last few years I have been starting to think about building a new life there.. there is something about the constant struggle between valleys, mountains, rivers and lake. It's nature at its best, it's humanity adapting to nature, not the opposite. And you got to love it.

    Watching your videos are my recipe of escape =P. Growing up in Vancouver and now working in Toronto, this video reminds me of the mountains of Vancouver and how much I miss them. I have a bunch of unedited videos and I was looking for editing ideas, this helps a lot 🙂 I'm tired of all youtubers that just do crazy editing moves and transitions, this is more what I was looking for. I was actually there at Como lake 1 year ago(also part of my unedited videos) love that place!

    I couldn't agree more! If you haven't been already I'd highly recommend a similar trip to Gran Canaria, in winter or spring so that it's not too hot. It has amazing mountains and mountain villages and numerous endemic species too. It doesn't have many lakes but you can take ferries between the canary islands . I hear that La Gomera is really stunning also.

    This was by far my favourite video Johnny. I'm Swiss, currently living in the UK and my favourite places in the world are mountains - for all of these reasons you described. I try to spend as much time up there whenever I go back home as it is also my favourite place escape, to think and to clear my head. I always feel rejuvenated after a trip to the mountains. This video means a lot to me as you've shown these places with the beauty and respect they deserve and with such passion. So thank you for making my home feel special to me and for making me feel a little less homesick for a moment.
