@@bkclub599 Agree! Yes, a simple way to start the bike (using a standard key) but still have the FOB functionality for those quick On/Off the bike situations. It really should be a choice. IF I ever purchase another motorbike I'll opt for one with a standard key option.
I pick on the FOB a lot, but it's never failed me. I hear stories where it does and it's complicated to emergency start this bike. I'd much rather have a standard key. Manufacturers need to keep it simple I feel.
I'm 70 and love keyless ignition systems. They are terrific. Wear pants with zip pockets, and you are never searching for your keys. You can't lose them while outside. And as for the pacemaker advice, that is absolutely nothing to worry about. Pacemakers are far more complex these days. Your mobile phone is just as risky. It's nonsense.
Great show how video! Very intuitive! So if I get a PCX150, the new one, is it better to not get the smart key and get regular keys to have a hassle-free start? Thanks Tom
Don't think you'll have the option! They come from the factory a certain configuration. I'll check to see what I can find though. Thanks for the comment!
I’ve also experienced the key indicator blinking while I was riding my ADV couple times today. I thought it was because of the interference coz I had my smart phone with me all the time which made me think the reason why the indicator keeps flashing while the ignition is on. I also have got a 5 volt adapter plugged in all the time and decided to pull it out. We’ll see if that fixes the blinking key indicator issue and give you an update tomorrow to see how it goes. Thank you! Love your videos man! Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Yes, let me know! I think it blinks as some alert having to do with the adapter. It's either a warning message or a notification of something plugged into it. But, others say their light doesn't blink when using it so who knows. It might be my adapter itself. I've not tried another one yet.
I’m glad you figured the key alert dashboard issue. I remember we talked about it 😊 I love the key fob. I do carry the manual key as you never know if the battery dies on the remote or on the scooter. I’m gonna watch your other video but that jumper blue adapter is located below the seat. Attached to it. Thx for the video. See ya bud
Thanks, sir! I am planning an Emergency Key video next with the blue EM connector. Hope to get this accomplished soon. There's some on RUclips, but most are not in English so hopefully it will be helpful for people. Stay tuned!
Thank you. Yes I am old school too, and I am reading all the motorcycle manual, as a software manual. Honda should have optional model using the normal key. And I don,t understand what is the purpose of this emergency connection when all you have is an electric starter, without battery it wont start. If we had an optional regular kick starter, then this emergency bypass would make more sense. I bought my 2024 sh125i yestarday, the last one was from 2014, normal key.
I kind of like the key fob convenience but it has more ways to go wrong that can leave you stranded than keys. Cost effective keys, are a water proof, don't need batteries and fool proof solution.
Honda should go back to reliability and standard key access. If I ever upgrade this bike I'm avoiding the FOB process if possible. Hope they still make a bike with keys in the future. Maybe everything is headed that direction. Who knows.
Hi handsome. Did you participate in the 2022 scooter cannonball run? If not , why not? Will you consider participating in such a venue? Thanks more videos please. Would you or have you considered upgrading to a Yamaha XMax 300? Thanks.
Just wanted to say thanks for all of these videos! I especially loved the Hueston woods one, as that's my favorite park to go to! I was really surprised because I was searching for ADV150 videos, which are already a little scarce, and just happened to find yours, at my favorite park! Quick question for you. I'm really considering getting the ADV150 if I can find one, but I'm a little worried since I'm 6'4. Do you think I could still ride it, albeit a little cramped, or is this a no go for someone my height? Thanks again! P.S If you're looking for video ideas, I would love to see a video of you showing the under seat storage, seeing what you can fit in it and whatnot!
Hey, thanks for the kind comment! Really appreciate that. With you being 6'-4" the only thing you might find annoying is that hump in the seat where it raises up so someone can ride on the back behind you. Taller folks have replaced the stock seat with a custom seat or they've modified the stock seat and removed the hump somehow. I think there are videos on that actually. May want to check. But, besides the seat hump I'd say you would enjoy it. Is there any way you can actually find one and sit on it? :) That's really the only way to know how things are going to fit.
I've seen some that are programmable for the horn (alarm) and custom functions. I believe those are aftermarket devices, but not 100% sure if Honda makes them specifically. I've never seen a Honda brand FOB like that, in other words.
Thank you for the video. Looking forward to the next one in using that blue thing - interested in how to get one of those. Also, quick question, if I press the bottom button on the fob and the light blinks red, does that turn the fob off and save the battery. I did that over the winter and had a battery tender on the bike itself, but am concerned about the fob battery running out of juice when I’m 50 miles from home.
I don't think the RED light turns off the FOB, it only disables the ignition from sensing the proximity feature. Not 100% sure, but that's what I'd guess if I were a betting man. Good question though! Now you have me curious. Just keep the FOB away from the bike when in storage and it shouldn't drain the battery. Those FOBS take those CR2032 wafer style. I bought a 5-pack off Amazon for a few bucks and change them (in both FOBS) every season just for piece of mind. You can keep a spare in your wallet or somewhere else when you ride just to be safe. Case in point...just give me an actual KEY and be done with that nonsense. :)
Hi, thank you for the cool video! i have a question: If the bike is running or started, because the key is near, but then the bike gets separated from the key. Will it ever shut off when driven away? I'm about to get a Forza 350 and this is my biggest fear - someone amplifying the key signal (like with Tesla), starting the bike and driving away... I think it should not be able to be driven without the key being close, but maybe Honda thinks differently? 😬
Thanks! If the bike is started and the FOB goes out of proximity range it will stay running. But, you can't start it again until you're back in range. That's a good point you made and I guess this is by design so the bike doesn't die while being ridden. That could be dangerous. I've started mine and went back into the house to grab something and it didn't shut off while I had the FOB in my pocket. I had it on center stand. So once started, the FOB is irrelevant unless you need to start again. 😵💫
@@RashoYT Chances are that won't happen, but if it makes you sleep better at night do what it takes, right? 😁 It's a shame we must live among thieves where they never learned respect for others. 🙄
What if you leave scoot on "on" position and then walk away. Can you just come back, and press ignition button and ride away without the need to switch anything?
That's the best question I've ever heard, seriously. And to be honest, I never tried that! I don't know if I'd want to walk away and leave it wide open for someone to hop on and go, but now you have me curious and time for more testing. If you beat me to it let me know what you discover. lol

While using the key fob press and HOLD the "key" button until you see a red light come on. That's how you lock the ignition. Then, press and hold the "key" symbol button down again until the green light comes on. If you are in proximity of the infrared field it should allow you to turn the ignition to the "run" position. If not, you might have a problem with the key fob battery.

Absolutely. I keep one in my wallet at all times. The front box is a good place too, yes. Better to be safe than sorry. I shared the code process for those who don't have a spare battery just in case. I hope I never have to use it because I'd have to reference my own video to remember how. :)
