Couple things I wish you had covered: 1. Mother/Lamia is a weapon from the Mithraic Church that was reprogrammed. The surviving Mithraic church leader says, "No one has ever been able to reprogram one of our necromancers before." 2. They mention that the tropical region is emitting a huge amount of magnetism that blocks landing.
Glad I wasn't the only one that caught that rather glaring error in the analysis. He also commented that both "factions", his word not mine, see children as the future but that clearly isn't true as the Mithraic leader initially denies the value of rescuing the children. An argument could be made that neither side overly value children as the athiest drafted theirs into warfare, while the mithraic nearly abandoned theirs at the first sign of a challenge. However, of the two, the athiest seem to value children far more as they risk a great deal both in reprogramming a necromancer and sending her and father ahead in a faster ship to give them a chance to survive

I watched "Raised By Wolves" back to back. I was surprised that it was indeed slow in spots. And I was expecting violence in places where there was none. I fully expected Mother to go postal on some of the new kids because she was said to be malfunctioning. That would have been a cheap shot and I'm glad I was wrong. I consider "Wolves" to be thought-provoking and I want to see more of this world. Mother scares the hell out of me. I'm glad Father was brought back. The rest of the characters are interesting and I'm very curious to see how this all plays out.
I mean yea she was completely breaking down and after a new set of eyes she's all better. Father needed a new processing unit to further his longevity but mother just got some new eyes and her malfunctioning hasn't really shown since then.
Mother was never "breaking down"/malfunctioning. They threw those terms around sure, but in hindsight it was not that at all. What appeared to be malfunctioning was in reality her processing of emotion that had to fight her programming. This battle inside her caused what in a human would be called a seizure. It wasn't time breaking her down at all, it was the hardships of life and motherhood. Seems counterintuitive, but I think that's the point. I believe the series is looking closely at nature vs nurture as well as, can something mechanical and created by man actually have a soul
@@StephenStrangeX she's a necromancer which we will likely find has an indefinite shelf life. Father is a service Droid so he was truly reaching his end, aka breaking down. Mother wasn't malfunctioning at all, but rather "shorting out" if you will. She is a Droid and as such she is programmed without emotion. So as the years go on and she becomes attached and caring for these children. So when these children die and it "hurts" her (emotionally) she can't process it. She is having feelings that she very literally cannot process because she shouldn't have feelings. Which is one of the larger questions being asked by this series. Do only humans have a "soul" or can their creations too have a "soul"? And of course the well known question of nature vs nurture.
Atheist is simply someone who lacks a belief in a God , not knowledge that one doesn’t exist. If you’re agnostic by definition you are atheist. Atheism is about belief. Agnostic is about knowledge. One can be an agnostic atheist or believer.
You wanna laugh. I didnt know anything about the show. I thought it was about werewolves. 1mn in I was like "space werewolves?" lol Way better than werewolves.
Necromancers seem to literally be the ultimate badass war machines! When Mother goes war mode she literally changes her looks to personify death incarnate! Her banshee like screams decimate other androids and humans become exploding bags of blood while their bones are quite literally vaporized at an atomic level. These androids were created by the Mythraic but were reprogrammed by the Atheists to also be domesticated service robots capable of raising and protecting young children. I can’t seem to determine who had the upper hand in the Earth war, but it seems to me that whoever had the most Necromancer Androids was likely the winner of the World War.
I think the necromancers couldn't be controlled and is why the earth was abandoned. As Marcus said, he didn't care for much of what was written in the Mithraic's book, but agreed with, "You reap what you sew."
Another great and detailed video summary of what looks to be one incredible sci-fi series. I binged the first three episodes and I'm hooked! Again, great job peeling back the layers!
Amazing review man! I didn't really know what to expect from the show. I started watching right after you dropped the review and it's amazing. I can't wait for episode 4.
How the hell could an android be so OP. Turns metallic, completely bulletproof, leviaties, obliterating sonic screams, Kryptonian near yellow sun freeze breath, but most of all instant surface polishing to a mirror like finish. Can such tech be remotely explained? I guess Iron man suit too, is pretty crazy, but damn this mother android is next level crazy.
Necro Orcen I bet there were weapons to effectively fight/defend against them. So there may have only been a few or even only one brought with them to this planet as they didnt expect a necromancer to make it here.
To be fair they were trying to attack her with small arms, like pistols, and not say rocket launchers and stuff. She is basically the future super weapon of the time. This is fairly far into the future so I am sure they had extremely devastating weapons. In fact, that might explain why the earth is basically destroyed, because you might need to use weapons that take out an entire city block to kill one of those. Maybe they are firing intercontinental ballistic missile at them and stuff.
Thanks mate, your support always means a lot, specially for how long you’ve checked in on the channel, much appreciated and hope you have a good weekend
This show has so many dualities, mother/father, atheist/believers, good/evil, etc etc. At the end of episode 3 I think we are finally getting to the shows title "Raised by Wolves" I dont necessarily think Campion is being raised by wolves Mother and Father, the little girl that strayed away and thought to have fallen into the pit is the one that is being raised by wolves aka the 4 legged beast that attack them. IMO mother is the demon and father is the Angel or heavenly father.
Yeah I have simmilar conclusions. That there is sth wrong about The dissapiring of The first girl Tally. That she did not fall to The pit rather was taken. And raised by creatures of The planet.
This is by far the best sci-fi series in a decade - One of Ridley Scotts best work. Even the child actors do a very good job - First time in a very very long time that younger actors dont get on my nerves.
Until production companies allow new ideas into projects that they would finance we will still keep getting these Rehashed Shows. I have seen this story about 12 times before just with a different paint job on the same car and of course it's Ridley Scott behind the wheel, I would of loved to have been inside that office when he pitched this idea. Finance: Good morning Ridley we can't wait to hear your idea for the new show we just known it's going to be good. Ridley Scott: Thank you I do try. Ok so this shows main premise centers around a plot that deals with humans surviving and discovering the answers to our most devoted questions. We have Robots that were created by humans that look like humans and act like humans but aren't humans but are made to help humans until they go rogue. We will have the story center around a strong female character that can also pilot a ship trying to save children from a pending doom that learks around the corner we can't see but know is there. Now I know what your thinking right now "WOW" am I right? But here is where the story comes into its own original story.... get ready for it... The Woman and Children are marooned on a desolate planet where she has to keep the children safe but in the end we will shorten the group down to One Older Female who can kick ass along with a young Girl who is the child that she protects from the evil monster that learks around the corner. Now later we find out that the Robot... you know I just had another great idea right here in your office, instead of calling her a Robot let's call her a Android oh! and she bleeds not blood but a White milky substance. As the story movies along we will incorporate religion into the film by using symbolism and the viewers learn that the Android Woman will begin to think of herself as a God and begin to create life of her own. You know what I can't even make fun of this anymore it's down right depressing let's just hope his next project he will start work on will be better I heard it's about a Female Android who has to protect a young girl from a monster on a desolate planet. Here's a Quiz game for you. Can you guess the Ridley Scott Film? Here goes. The film is about a White milk bleeding Android that has to protect a human from a pending doom. Choose 1 of the 4 choices Is it A. ALIEN B. PROMETHEUS C. ALIEN COVENANT D. RAISED BY WOLVES
Father is so under appreciated in this series. He's the chillest dad ever. AND he has dad jokes. I mean, c'mon. PLUS - RAGNAR RETURNS. I'm so glad Travis Fimmel is in this series. a great actor. And, I thought the white liquid coming out of mother when she is crying / damaged was reminiscent of actual mother's milk.
She seems to have a lot of abnormal emotions for an Android apparently. I think she loathes them so much(or whoever reprogrammed her)she can’t help but talk about how awful they are. Obsessive.
When she impersonated the deceased child she said she had a virtual retinal display, i.e. a projector that projects an image directly onto a person's retina. Which means she has to be very close to someone for this to work... So it's kind of weird she was able to impersonate that guy via a remote transmission from the ship. Also the fact that those people just vaporized after being hit with the sound wave was very unrealistic. I don't mind the explosions but people wouldn't just vaporize like that. Conservation of mass still applies. Also when the ship was coming down it would have been burning when going through the atmosphere.. The show is good. Planetary colonisation is a really cool sci-fi topic but they should really focus more on the science part.. I would enjoy it more if it was a bit more realistic.
ya just one robot who has been out of action for more then a decade single handedly stormed, rampaged, and crashed a ship big enough to hold thousends of heavily armered and equiped religious fanatics. they most got a weakness because as of right now shes op as fuck
The necromancer is a Creation of the Fanatics not the atheist. They used necromacners to win the war. Mother got reprogrammed . I Think Ragnar said that in episode 3? :D
Kevin d remember that Caleb told his konkret that soldiers aren’t needed anymore... so the refugees/soldiers on the ship were not expecting to have to fight and DEFINITELY not expecting to be ambushed by a Necromancer
Loved it ...Looks like the oldschool 70/80;s sci fi artwork 2000ad ,Warhammer 4k, come alive...Some seriously creative talented artists behind the making of this.,Right up my street...
There's so many juicy details. I found myself sitting at the edge of my seat and at other times not sure if I should turn away. It's obvious there is more on this planet than we've seen and eventually they will succumb to the elements. So far a fantastic start!!!
The way she flies is like Christ on the cross, I’m guessing on purpose by the worshippers(Christ the destroyer). I also guess the original campion is the atheist who reprogrammed mother who will turn out to also be an Android/Ai
I'm really enjoying the show. I think it has the potential to be another HBO classic. It started a tad slow for me, but I was ok with it. Eposides 2 & 3 I thought were excellent! Definitely ready for more! 👍👍
Passable close captioning on this video, thanks for speaking clearly. If you can try a harder pronunciation of "Mithraic" that might help the system mess it up less. Still not complaining, the next most viewed reviewer's subtitles read like a foreign language.
@heavyspoilers dont get me wrong , I enjoy the vast knowledge of myth, and biblical ideas/theological elements in the observations.. I absolutely love that.. and Thank You for that.
Misc observations: - I don't think Mother was every outright lying to the children. After all, it's not a lie to say you could fall down a hole. Everything Campion thought Mother was lying about turned out to be true. I think she was just being (overly) cautious & protective, like any parent would, & that's the point. Especially a parent in the situation they're in. - What I find intriguing is the parallel between the androids as parents who fall in love with children they technically "did" give birth to vs Marcus & Sue falling in love with (over the 13 years they're on the ship) a child they orphaned when they killed his parents. You can see they have genuine parental feelings for him when he goes missing. - Speaking of those 13 years, I'm not convinced that Marcus & Sue would at this point do anything that would make others suspicious of their true identity. That's a long time for them to be able to learn everything possible about both the religion & themselves. It seems people now are "more" suspicious of them than when they were first on the ship, instead of reading their actions as those of concerned parents. It's sloppy: more a plot driver than a character driver. - One final meaning of the title I see is the comparison of parents to wolves in the broader sense, meaning animals who will stop at nothing to protect their young. You see that immediately in the androids & the evolution of that in Marcus & Sue.
They said that time was funky in the simulation so the characters probably didn’t spend strictly 13 years in it, otherwise the children would behave much older
"Strobe light" is UV sanitation (clearly said it) to keep the children pure (most likely UVC). We use it now for covid. I use it at home in a sealed off chamber to sanitize. Labs and hospitals use it too. Most wavelengths of UVC is bad for eyes but a blindfold would protect them if they are organic eyes. But it seems she removed her eyes to remove her power (as a safety protocol) and later she explains that she didn't know she had this power until it came back to her awareness (most likely from being beat half to death) because she was reprogrammed (in episode 5 we see her memories were archived) but in Episode 3 she explains that she removed her eyes to keep the power away from the children. Which explains why she took them out when going into see the children on the Ark for the first time. The UV isn't going to defeat her.... there's no need for her eyes to be organic. Ridley Scott merely had it there to show how clean they kept the children... because he understands microbes and viruses or someone on their team does.
I think next time you should be more focus on the show instead of, I don't know, texting your gf maybe? I mean, in case you are a RUclips reviewer that would be important... The showrunners spend half of the 2nd episode to depict how the Atheists were hunted down by the Necromancers in "Boston 2145". Good catch there, Spike!
Raman Monorath yeah that’s true but it’s not called a necromancer it’s called having a family that’s half Mexican half Puerto Rican. *TRUST ME* they make the necromancer look like a joke
Don't love it so far, a lot is happening, afraid they'll introduce too much stuff, too many characters and conflict, but for now i can say I like it. Still interested. Thanks for the recap!
Mother acts like a father protective and hunter and father acts like a mother a nurturer and educator. Its not just religion it's gender roles as well.
Caleb and his "wife" are pretty much atheists. I don't think she's a wife and she also showed aversion to being considered " a mother." I would wager that the atheists don't truly have property relations, after all the androids mission is to create an peaceful, atheistic civilization and property relations are definitely an issue for perpetual conflict and the main underlying reason for the institution of marriage. Also, the androids seem to want to go to the equator which is tropical in order to have access to more resources. It's not for anything that anthropologically speaking and historically speaking, many communitarian societies evolved and survived in tropical regions until they came across civilizations that evolved around scarcity, i.e, the judeo/christian and Islamic civilizations who, as history has shown, conquered them. It would be interesting to see if Caleb and his "comrade/partner" end up replacing the two androids at some point, so far they are the last remaining adult human "atheists." The cult of Sol is pretty much a theological regime that has songs praising the extermination of the atheists which I think, the biggest menaces presented to the cult of Sol of atheism is a questioning of their social and economic hierarchy legitimized through " faith." The atheists employment of children earlier on in the show could be due to the fact that the war had wiped out most of the atheists adult population, and the children where seen as the last line of defense before total subjugation. This would also be a reason why "necromancer's where designed by the cult of Sol, to aid in the endeavor of vanquishing an enemy that posed an existential threat to their theological legitimacy. But then again, I feel Mr. Scott probably has never detached himself from the normalized and common meta-narrative that exists in our hierarchical societies that a specific human nature does exist ( which i am convinced more than not is a social construct that has been perpetually enforced by the use of force throughout history), in which case everything i speculated on, will be nonexistent in Ridley Scott's show. In any event, I'm excited to see how this show plays out.

The rest of the characters are interesting and I'm very curious to see how this all plays out.
I mean yea she was completely breaking down and after a new set of eyes she's all better. Father needed a new processing unit to further his longevity but mother just got some new eyes and her malfunctioning hasn't really shown since then.
You mean action violence Carrie's repercussions and emotional weight. This was glam action. I think the story is being rushed.
I actually have no issue with the pacing at all; it's still absorbing, and it provides contrast.
I'm just surprised that mullets are gonna be popular again in the future. Even with women.
👌😂yup
Got to admit she pulls it off like a boss
Discouraging 😨
Hahahahaha
Mullets have been making a come back for months now.
1mn in I was like "space werewolves?" lol
Way better than werewolves.
Lol
I suspect, the faith factions are the tech leaders and their caste system is more to blame for the war
from everyone in this show MOTHER and FATHER are MY FAVs. they are are great characters and so the actors.
The necromancers were a gift from SOL HIM/HERSELF. Technology no matter how advanced cannot make such a things.
I think the necromancers couldn't be controlled and is why the earth was abandoned. As Marcus said, he didn't care for much of what was written in the Mithraic's book, but agreed with, "You reap what you sew."
@ Lightwish Light The people left behind on an exploding planet definitely did not have the upper hand
I wonder how mother dies in episode 5.
I suspect the Mythraics have a known way to kill them.
@@craigweyer4058 She could just fall apart, for how overpowered she was, she was originally already falling apart at the start.
Another great and detailed video summary of what looks to be one incredible sci-fi series. I binged the first three episodes and I'm hooked! Again, great job peeling back the layers!
I'm officially hooked. Been rewatching your reviews.
Someone has a big imagination
Its not real ya know
This show seems like a culmination of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi comics
30+ people having their heads exploded in the first 3 episodes is too slow for this guy... good to know.
It is a little slow. The number of heads exploding has nothing to do with the pacing of the show. Just cheap thrills. Was an important scene though
@@joemanco1075 its not moving slow, every scene is packed with info and has significance.
I stopped watching episode 1 because it felt too slow but i know it has potential i have to give it a genuine try
@@JOK3RC4RDx sorry, that doesn't say much good about you 😆

Hey your channel rocks and this show is awesome thanks!
Been waiting for your analysis of this show now it’s here.
hope you enjoyed it
Heavy Spoilers I did.
Thanks mate, your support always means a lot, specially for how long you’ve checked in on the channel, much appreciated and hope you have a good weekend
Heavy Spoilers your compliments mean the world to me.
Fyi, the first episode is available free on youtube from HBO max. I checked it out and while I wasn't blown away, I was interested to see more.
Awesome as always!
Very well spoken. Peace. Enjoyed your commentary
This is by far the best sci-fi series in a decade - One of Ridley Scotts best work.
Even the child actors do a very good job - First time in a very very long time that younger actors dont get on my nerves.
This show is very interesting 🤔 and by the way who else is happy to see the Great Ragnar in another show 👍🏾
Until production companies allow new ideas into projects that they would finance we will still keep getting these Rehashed Shows.
Choose 1 of the 4 choices
Is it
A. ALIEN
B. PROMETHEUS
C. ALIEN COVENANT
I am intrigued to where the episodes will go and I also want to see more about the war and all.
Thanks for the great video.
Definitely not a slow show. So much happening from the opening scene
Nice video. Very good show. 🤞for the C.Nolan collection!

Love this show. Outstanding analysis as always!
I didn't even know you covered RBW, you're chan is really proper good Def. Heading to your FRESH vid now, but will you cover S2 of RBW too?
She never should’ve even told them about religion in the first place...don’t even put the idea in their head.
She seems to have a lot of abnormal emotions for an Android apparently. I think she loathes them so much(or whoever reprogrammed her)she can’t help but talk about how awful they are. Obsessive.
Also she could just be preparing for the inevitable. We created all our religions. No one taught us.
The idea is already in your head
Man, I love Ridley Scott so much. He's so good at creating amazing fantasy worlds
Big fan of your channel. The show has the potential to be really good. We will see how the remaining episodes fair.
Alien - Blade Runner - Raised by Wolves connected universe?
Ehh no
When she impersonated the deceased child she said she had a virtual retinal display, i.e. a projector that projects an image directly onto a person's retina.
Mothers first rampage was lit
Which kinda begs the question how the hell did they lose the war?
ya just one robot who has been out of action for more then a decade single handedly stormed, rampaged, and crashed a ship big enough to hold thousends of heavily armered and equiped religious fanatics. they most got a weakness because as of right now shes op as fuck
The necromancer is a Creation of the Fanatics not the atheist. They used necromacners to win the war. Mother got reprogrammed . I Think Ragnar said that in episode 3? :D
@@patrickjones148 lol Ragnar
Kevin d remember that Caleb told his konkret that soldiers aren’t needed anymore... so the refugees/soldiers on the ship were not expecting to have to fight and DEFINITELY not expecting to be ambushed by a Necromancer
Loved it ...Looks like the oldschool 70/80;s sci fi artwork 2000ad ,Warhammer 4k, come alive...Some seriously creative talented artists behind the making of this.,Right up my street...
It's the first tv series since breaking bad and battle star galactica (reboot) that I want to watch again. Simply marvelous.
Great break down
“I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way” LMAO
Lol, I caught that too!!
Campion was a Jesuit priest who was convicted of treason in 16th century England.
The father android in this show is Played by the same guy who plays bayek in assassins creed origins.
Well, this video actually drummed up enough interest in me to go watch the show, so there's that, thank you!
I've only seen the first episode, but didn't find it slow at all.
This looks interesting...going to try to figure out where I can watch it! thank you :)
I think there are all these reversals going on. I think Campion becomes prophet of Sol and Paul becomes leader of the athiests
Great video
She makes weapons of her eyes....does she "weapon-eyes" them?
That was so bad...but sooo good!
Kinda peaked tbh
Bit of a design flaw though they way she has to keep her defense weapons of her body, I mean what if she were to loose them?? What then,
There's so many juicy details. I found myself sitting at the edge of my seat and at other times not sure if I should turn away. It's obvious there is more on this planet than we've seen and eventually they will succumb to the elements. So far a fantastic start!!!
I’m watching it on Foxtel it’s really good.
Thank you!!!!
The way she flies is like Christ on the cross, I’m guessing on purpose by the worshippers(Christ the destroyer). I also guess the original campion is the atheist who reprogrammed mother who will turn out to also be an Android/Ai
Except they worship Sol (the sun), not Christ
Turns out that the whole trailer came from the first episode lol
Well most of it..
Westworld meets Lost meets The Leftovers for me ... and I couldn’t ask for a better combo!
@heavyspoilers dont get me wrong , I enjoy the vast knowledge of myth, and biblical ideas/theological elements in the observations.. I absolutely love that.. and Thank You for that.
antibiotics for radiation poisoning??? not something that makes sense
Misc observations:
- I don't think Mother was every outright lying to the children.
Been waiting for something new from HBO, they alway bring that 🔥🔥🔥 series.
Totally diggin this series!
Hahahahaha... “weapon-eyes” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love it!
I watch it last night and you’re right it’s slow but interesting enough to keep me watching all three episodes back to back..
i am very engaged in this show. It really got much better in the second episode.
Good review, hoping that the story continues to be unpredictable
The pacing is used to create tension and give enough time for us to doubt what you’ve seen. I, for one, am thoroughly enjoying this little gem.
Kinda wish my mom was a necromancer now.
Ha, one time she yell at you, you gone not even ya bones survive.
Raman Monorath yeah that’s true but it’s not called a necromancer it’s called having a family that’s half Mexican half Puerto Rican. *TRUST ME* they make the necromancer look like a joke

Excited to see where it goes
Don't love it so far, a lot is happening, afraid they'll introduce too much stuff, too many characters and conflict, but for now i can say I like it. Still interested. Thanks for the recap!
Mother acts like a father protective and hunter and father acts like a mother a nurturer and educator. Its not just religion it's gender roles as well.
This is very well done classic science fiction fantastically modernized in a soup of perfection.
Thanks for this review.
Lovin it
Caleb and his "wife" are pretty much atheists.
3 eps in and enjoying it so far, can't wait for more ;)
