This game is a bit weird. The Ghost map is super well designed and has a good loop once you understand what you have to do. But the Farm map is one of the worst designed levels I’ve seen in a recent game(in terms of gameplay. The map itself looks good). In the Ghost map, the main obstacle comes in the form of finding all the cursed dolls, being a multi layered game of hide and seek: you look for the dolls while the ghost looks for you. You are also on limited time, since there are a finite amount of normal dolls, so you have to be proactive instead of cautious. To not have the ghost be an overwhelming force, she has periods of aggression and periods of being passive. But she becomes more aggressive and swift in her pursuit as you get rid of more cursed dolls, slowly acclimating you to the harder points rather than throwing you into ice cold water out of the gate. This allows the player to slowly adapt and get into the groove of the game, while the cursed dolls spreading out ensures that the gameplay doesn’t become repetitive. A near perfect execution(a more obvious tell of what players should do without wasting time to read notes would make it a lot better still). Then the Farm map throws all of that away and has the enemy start off at full strength, with no downtime after eating and being a lot faster than the player. This makes the enemy super annoying to deal with, since merely seeing them often results in a game over. The gameplay loop is also *excrutiatingly* repetitive. The chickens are all in the same area, the poison is in the same room, and the water trough is in the same spot, so the loop is literally walking back and forth between three areas and hoping the enemy doesn’t interrupt you on a bad part. And the absolute worst part is that you have to feed the enemy *eight or nine* chickens in a row to beat it. If she eats a normal chicken or a player, that count *resets to 0.* It feels like two different people worked on the two maps, since the Ghost map works a lot in the player’s favor(which all games should do, no exceptions) while the Farm map is just hard stacked against the player in the most artificial way. Since the game is still getting updates, I hope the devs find a way to eventually make the Farm map more enjoyable. The problem lies within the core concept of the level, so that is not a simple task. Maybe if they made it so that the poison had to be put in a different area every time, then that would already remove 90% of the problem. That way, you can fill up all the spots and crank out chickens back to back. It would make the level be super quick, but that’s an inevitability when the enemy instakills you and has no downtime.
