    I know that I shall meet my fate
    Somewhere among the clouds above;
    Those that I fight I do not hate
    Those that I guard I do not love;
    My country is Kiltartan Cross,
    My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,
    No likely end could bring them loss
    Or leave them happier than before.
    Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
    Nor public man, nor cheering crowds,
    A lonely impulse of delight
    Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
    I balanced all, brought all to mind,
    The years to come seemed waste of breath,
    A waste of breath the years behind
    In balance with this life, this death.

    The strings are so lush, gives me 'There´s only me' vibes with those descending lines.

      Yes. It doesn't have a few similarities. Thanks, Microrator.

    As a poet that draws heavily from music, I absolutely love that your music draws from poetry. The notes and lyrics in your songs build an atmosphere that I try to build with words. Thanks for the insight into your writing process and of course thanks for the music. Keep up the great work!

    I have been waiting almost 17 years for this! I am a chronic pain sufferer, Thank you Rob! You are one of the few artists who speak to what soul I have left, I have introduced so many people to your art / music and you have brought us all to the same place of passion you must be in to create these masterpieces!
    Thank you from me and my family, Love from Scotland.

    This is my favorite song of yours! Your poetry readings were a wonderful surprise, too. I wonder if you've ever read the Iliad before? Of all the poetry I've read, that one's the most powerful for me.

    Really nice to find out that Keats inspired such a potent song. And these little renditions just prove to me how much we need to see you do your thing live. I don't think attendance would be a problem! 😃

    Have you considered doing audio books? Because I'd pay money to hear you read more poems like that.

    Will you tell us why were you absent? If it is too personal then don't do it, I'm asking just because I missed you and your music :) BTW I didn't know the poem, it is great. Thank you for this also :)

      Check out Rob's blog on his site - he's been keeping people up to date.
      He's been off making award winning wine, and all that business and life getting in the way... :/
      Also worth adding him on twitter for the odd update.
