Best regatta ever. Amazing sailing by the skippers, Luna Rossa paying the price for not having a dedicated tactician onboard, again. Gotta love the AC. Thanks to the organizers for the broadcasting.
Totally agree. My Dad sailed AC for UK in 1980. This is the first time I've truly got into AC coverage and it's testament to the epic coverage, digital overlays, commentary, etc- not to mention an epic UK comeback.
Editing and presentation to YT leaves a lot to be desired - it's completely unclear from the video titles what each video is actually covering - like this vid above - its says it covers a whole days racing but there is only one race presented - where exactly in the comp schedule is this?? Who vs whom??
Rita broke 50kt twice on the mark roundings and the split at the last mark was only 1 second! What a race! For those checking in after the live you can skip about two hours forward till they stopped moving the course due to wind shifts. 40kt upwind!
Massive thanks to everyone behind the scenes on all teams and to the coverage production team for bringing us this fantastic sporting spectacle. Cheers.
WHAT A RACE! I have watched it 3 times now and will probably watch it THREE MORE TIMES 🤩! That‘s the beauty of this format: All the engineering, planning, building going into these beasts - and at the end it just comes down to a one-on-one matchrace and getting the teamwork perfect!!! Amazing!! Credits to all the teams, but also credit to the footage, really worth getting up 3.00 here in europe and setting up your wife in favor of watching this 😂!
Even with all the incredible technology it’s still clear that the old adage “ get your head out of the boat” still holds true. Giles Scott as tactician, with no other role, is constantly watching the shifts and accurately communicating the info to Ben who uses it brilliantly. Fabulous race!

Y yo! Last time, they got the coverage horribly wrong. But this time round, it's amazing to watch it the same day (CET time). Still a long way to go for the Challengers. The development in these new boats is incredibly fast, given INEOS were struggling big time at Christmas time. You can bet there's a lot more to come and American Magic, with a new refit, might ironically benefit the most in terms of adding speed and handling.
The AC75s are so big you can see them from most high points around the course..north head..bastion point..rangitito.misic point..great central 4 course set up.

Great presentation, very knowledgable about the rules and tactics, great graphics too. Both boats made tactical errors but what a race in the end. Goes to show how much a team can change it round.👍
Truly love the Americas Cup since the 80's - tip my hat to the announcers who've got to make the Prada Cup as exciting as possible - same boats racing each other again and again, and again and again, and again and again. One announce noted how CRITICAL the race was to one team. If 2 of the 3 teams will be in the semi-final, and the 3rd team in the final - where is the drama?
Awesome racing. Well done both teams. Finally got to witness the racing style that team nz expects out of these boats! Spectacular, professional from both teams. We'll done ineos!
The racing has been great so far. I'm really enjoying AC36. There have been comebacks, close racing, mistakes, huge wind shifts, clever strategy, repeated lead changes and a capsize (about which I'm genuinely sorry - good luck American Magic) and lots to talk about. All this and the Kiwis are still in their shed.
Unbelievable awsome best race Ive ever seen , nail bitting seat of your pant sailing incredible 👏 😀 bring it home boys . Team ineos sir ben and team sweet.
Thank you guys for this awesome coverage! Comments, camera shots, interviews of sailors, 'know the rules' etc. all great stuff! What I could suggest is: anounce the time to next start in minutes, rather than local time. I am local, but often watch delayed, and overseas viewers wouldn't know what to do with it even if it was live. Cheers! Keep up the good work!
Fair play to Ken, you have taken on board comments from last weekend about not speaking over the boat audio at mark roundings and other key moments, thank you. I almost wish you had spoken during the last windward rounding to give your view on Ineos over0-standing the mark!@ When speaking, your insight is great, thank you. The first 30 mins of this video are very moving, a truly great piece of broadcasting that humanises the American Magic catastrophe.
Very impressive Guys (team Ineos) especially considering the Cunningham issue you had to manage... it must have cost you performance... very close race.. very exciting with all the lead changes... can’t wait to see the next round of updates... fingers crossed there is 10% + still to come... we will need it against NZ.
American Magic at one point was completely out of the water, great effort by everyone and Auckland Authorities to save the boat and thank goodness all crew members were accounted for..
I wish that the Americas Cup could've been raced on that course in those winds ...we might have had an EXCITING AC ...as it was.....it was abit boring for the BIG RACE...THIS was the BEST RACE EVER..Thanks!
I'm new to sailing but not racing. What a simply epic race - shaking, hands in the mouth and holding my breath at the end and finally elation 😂 A Brit but Luna Rossa thank you for such an epic battle!
Agreed. But it is not only the boat speed that makes this team so competitive. The UK boys have proven that they could pull it off in every single race. Despite some errors they made in all races they showed that they were stronger in tactical decision making. You can clearly see that the experience of these two guys Scott and Ben from sailing in the tactical Finn calss for so long is really paying off here.
If Luna Rossa wants any chance in semi-final, the only way is give the helm only to Spithill, Bruni to fly the boat and do tactics but last decision to Spithill. Enough of the two helms, two heads, to different ways of approaching the race.
I don't care who is in the final, as long as they beat the English. The thing is that the English do not even mention the Americas Cup. All you hear is boasting about the cricket and Joe Root.
Why are both the British and Italian not using their respective 'civil ensigns'? but use the 'national flag'? Also the old style of displaying the club burgee on the mainsail would be cool to see. Actually the British boat being a member of the Royal Yacht Squadron club, they can fly the British Naval Ensign.
fantastic racing but, I feel that the chopper should not be as close, or upwind of any boat due to downdraft from it's rotors. Giving the extra energy to the boat being filmed.
Brilliant racing from Ineos accompanied by better boat handling . Prada compromised their racing ability with poor boat handling . The two helms look for confirmation from each other whereas the helm tactician is about information leading to key decisions .
Why was start time delayed? INEOS had an extra hour to do stuff during the course change and then right when race is about to start they are allowed to "break" and get an additional 15 minutes? I am not a sailor, but seemed like Prada should have just run their own race instead of covering INEOS so much.
Sorry Sailing fans. If I see this technologie, I ask myselv, for what we need a crew on board. They are only ballast, and a Computer can make the boat very much faster. Is it the future?

You are right. He did say "Calm down, guys." just after the finish. This is not what they went to Auckland for. It's another step forward and a job very well done but that's all.
Most likely the pilots have stricts instructions. Cameras with long focal give the impression the helicopter is just above the boats, while it's more than 100 meters away.
Because of physics... If they don't take advantage of the wind laterally they would end up halting in the middle of the race field due to adverse wind...
@@filippomariadematteis4627 I've seen other boats do this thing called "running," Where they have the mainsail and jib on a broad reach on opposite sides, so they maximize sail area. Does this not work on AC75's?

A reasons of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli lost win-game ;
1).First, When 250m leads of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli(=lrpp) in leg 4, lrpp must be a containing attack by deversionary tactics.
{when Ineos Team UK(=ituk) tacking(gybing), immediately lrpp tacking(gybing)as same location 'on head of wind' = keep on blanking}
= missing the tacking(gybing) point/ tacking(gybing) time.
2).Second, when ituk immediately tacking(gybing) after Gate 4 mark rounding, lrpp immediately tacking(gybing) must hold in checking.
= missing freely ituk.
3).Third, when last leg, last chance, on front of finish line meet the two boats, lrpp must be more offensive attacking acute incisive angulated boat head-up "starboard-attack" and tacking of 'collision avoidance'.
= missing the last chance of heavens-given.
