I started watching your videos because I was SO excited to see someone that looks like me doing something I want to do, and then I saw that you are sewing to provide for a slow life and that's what I am starting to do too! It was your projector sewing video that brought me to you, then I quickly found myself here nodding and tearing up with you as I watched this video. So much of what you shared feels as if I'm listening to myself, the critical self-talk, feeling fragile to criticism even when intellectually you know you're so much more than your feelings. The person mentioning the butter lumps reminded me about something a friend told me once - if you're at a friend's house before going out, and they put on top with a stain then asks "how do I look?" - you tell them about the stain so they can change if they want to. However, if a friend asks you that when you're already out, tell them they look great, you can mention the stain later. There is nothing that can be done about it at that point and making your friend feel self conscious for the rest of the night isn't very kind - intent versus impact. I hope you're finding space to be much kinder and gentler with yourself these days, and even if/when you're not - that's great to talk about with our little ones as well.

Thank you so much for leaving such kind and thoughtful words here! I'm glad that my content can connect with you in some small way, and your encouragement is very much appreciated. I have also heard that advice - to only mention something if it can be changed in under a minute or something along those lines, and I'm glad that we can learn how to be kinder to one another and be those real life examples to our little ones. All the best with your sewing and slow living! :)

I just found your channel via the alterations video of the men’s knit to a well fitting ladies sweater. I decided to give another video a listen appreciate the candor in this video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings in such a healthy way. It’s clear you’ve done inner work and are emotionally aware, it’s refreshing to hear such self reflection shared openly in such a soft way.

Thank you so much for this video! As someone with anxiety, I also struggle a lot with negative self talk, and it is so helpful to hear from others who deal with similar things, as it makes me feel less alone. Love your videos - your sewing skills are amazing - and hope you have a great Christmas!

So…. I‘m feeling sorry for you that you felt bad about baking. I don’t quite get why it makes you so emotional. I‘m a good baker and enjoy it and still have had some things not turn out. Once I accidentally dropped the birthday cake I made for my husband right when I carried it to the table, candles and all. Ok, that had me shed tears (of fury), too. Anyway, I think it admirable that you try again and again with baking and obviously want to get better. Maybe it helps to stick to ‚standard‘ recipes in the future, you know, a dough with bananas in them is bound to be soggy far easier than if you just use plain old sugar.
Oh, and what you experience with baking, is my sewing story. I am really bad at sewing and yet I don’t give up. I enjoy the process but not the outcome. There’s always flaws. Now your video helped me, since I produced a too small neck hem line a few days ago. I was so upset because the Labour and money spent on the fabric was for nothing. Now I saw you just cutting it off and making the hemline wider. I will try that now! Thank you!

Oh that would have been horrible! Yes, I think I'll try again, if anything because I am stubborn haha.
All the best with altering your top!
