  • G`day Folks,
    In response to a request from a subscriber, I have done a tutorial on the method I use to make bushes.
    It`s not my invention, but rather a compilation of ideas from other people.
    Cheers Gormo

    I think you could use the rope for clumps of tall, dead grass too...fantastic stuff...You really got me going on the hemp rope thing...you can practically use it for All your greenery needs!

    This tutorial was such a massive help to me. Thank you. I was battling to make small and medium size bushes/trees for a 1:72 model of the Battle of Rorke's Drift. It is a massive model and so I needed an easy, but effective method to make literally hundreds of scrub bushes. Wonderful and really easy to do.

    For teasing the rope fibers, try a pet comb or perhaps a flea comb. The teeth are very fine and close together. A few swipes of this comb and your fibers are sorted out. Fast and saves your fingers.

    Good method Gormo for making small bushes. Never heard of this ultra violet glue?
    Cheers
    Geoff

    • @greatchesterfordjunction
      @greatchesterfordjunction  4 года назад

      Thanks Geoff,
      The glue pens are relatively new and can be useful for some projects.
      The key element to using them is that the ultraviolet light has to be able to see the clear liquid glue. Therefore sandwiching the glue between two objects means that the light may only be able to see the edges.?
      It`s great stuff but you need to consider how to use it effectively.
      Cheers Gormo

    • @DominicFawver
      @DominicFawver 4 года назад

      The ultra violet glue is actually a UV cured resin, used for gluing acrylic nails in place (and similar to the stuff used in resin 3D printers).
      A suggestion for holding the smaller plants while painting, flocking, and drying: use alligator clips on skewers. You can use a block of foam to hold them while they are drying.

    • @greatchesterfordjunction
      @greatchesterfordjunction  4 года назад

      @@medwaypeninsulaMR That`s a little bit tougher than we have here at the moment, but the Govt. here is using a scalable approach, wherein they will ramp up the restrictions as it becomes necessary.
      We have social distancing, all non essential business is closing, our unemployed are about to double, all sport is cancelled, Queensland has closed it`s road borders except for freight, the Govt. is pumping billions of dollars into the economy via stimulus packages and ramping up every aspect of the health services.
      On the positive side, our infection rate is 0.9% compared to USA which is 13%.
      The measures put in place hopefully will ease the spread and the risk.
      Some people here just don`t get it though, and won`t comply, which will ultimately cause a stronger crack down on non compliance.
      Stay well and safe

    What kind of glue are you using when you are making your sheets of tufts?

    • @greatchesterfordjunction
      @greatchesterfordjunction  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Becky
      Glad you enjoyed the video.
      The small tufts for weeds or flowers can be done with standard PVA woodworking glue or craft glue....it`s all the same stuff.
      Put a blob onto baking paper and then place the static grass into the blob.....leave to dry for 24 hours.... and then peel off the paper.
      The bushes, because of their height and weight, are best done with a hot glue gun. Put a blob onto baking paper and then quickly place the stem of the bush into the blob. Hold the stem erect until the glue sets, which only takes seconds. Then let the stem go and allow the glue to set fully for maybe 10 minutes and then you can peel it off the paper
      I hope this answers your question.
      Cheers
      Gormo

    • @greatchesterfordjunction

      G`day Scott,
      Thanks for your comments.
      The Stone Henge is a model .....a gift from my daughter and her family. I think it`s original purpose was as an educational model but my daughter felt that it may suit Dad`s railway. It`s under scale, but set back where it sits, gives the illusion of distance. On top of that....it`s something different.
