    • @SupremeGecko

      Yes, for some reason, they really took off. They are big time burrowers so I think the composition of the substrate might be a part of it. I almost said, like from Men in Black, "I make this look good", but I think it's more like "The shirt makes me look better"

    Hi from Spain! I'm new to isopod culture and acquired my first eight species and morphs just a few weeks ago - the Porcellio laevis Orange and Dairy Cow are both producing babies and I've seen mating with both but they're pretty shy and retiring. It's actually the A. vulgare Magic Potion who are the stars of the show: they're nicely active and emerge often including during the afternoon when it's still quite light, and very quick to tuck into their dried shrimp. I'm keeping mine with no lid on at the moment and an additional misting as well as a damp area as it's so hot here. Definitely beautiful little animals!

    • @SupremeGecko

      Huge congrats to the new isopods, your new hobby :) i would agree that MPs are a Must Have isopods for anyone's collection. Good for you on the babies! And please do keep me posted.

    I adore how they skeletonise leaves. My vulgare are always so busy, bumping around everything in their tub. I didn't know mushroom was a good food source - how do you prep it?

    • @SupremeGecko

      I just dry them out. Once dry, I can cut them into smaller pieces with a box cutter. You should see dwarf whites devour a leaf!

I am pretty sure that this is one of the few species we commonly see here in Washington although I have never seen anything like that! • @SupremeGecko
      @SupremeGecko  4 года назад +1

      Not so much shy as they RUN for their burrows when you open the lid. I think that could be a number of factors. This would be a great isopod for a low light- glass/plastic enclosure.

    Good evening Sir, I recently got some of these (11 of them) for my daughter and so far for this whole month all they do is stay buried in the dirt.
    I don’t know if this is a bad sign or just their behavior.

    Could you help us out? Thank you kindly.
