Unbelievable. And not just the bike. Every step that mechanic takes in prepping the frame, fork, and components is better than virtually everyone else I've seen handle similar quality bicycles (I worked in shops for 10+ years). I hope On Your Left's kept him on and is paying him more in this wild time.
Thanks for compliments. We are still open during this pandemic snd have been busier than ever. Very fortunate to still be working during these times, though it is taxing, with having to do evrythinf curbside and over the phone/email.
Eric Chen While filming this I learned that due to everything being carbon fiber, using a torque wrench is 100% necessary, and it makes for a nice audible experience as well!
Beautiful in every way! My only criticism would be that 0:45 shows all the components and yet at 8:54 we see the genius pulling them from a rack. But for me the cinematography took precedence over my continuity OCD. Great job
Thanks man. Oh boy, continuity, there are tons thrown in there just for people like you. Its the perfection from all those small imperfections. Its a dream build after all, sure wish custom builds in the shop truly went together like this, haha. All the phone calls, emails, warranties, on the spot flat changes, drop offs, pickups, window shopping. Bike shops are retail/customer service after all. What matters at the end of the day, or 4am in the morning, is having fun. Keep tire side down. Cheers.
Can't believe i watched this till the end. Guess i was impressed by the craftsmenship, camera work & film editing and relaxing music in the background. So, now i think of it, i fully understand why i watched this all till the end :-)
This was beautiful to watch, so well framed (pun intended) shot and edited, I emotionally connected with the mechanic while he presided over HIS build! The ride at the end was a really nice touch.
P.S. Nothing wrong with those bottle cages, it has a simple job, form over function here. Yeah he rolled the tape out differently but I'm seeing more and more mechanics doing the same with aero-bars these days and I will be doing this to my own.
We're glad you think so, that was the goal of this. Whether into bikes or not, the ASMR qualities can't be understated. This is my passion and being able to express it and share in such a manner is a joy. Thanks for watching.
Reapa Nomin8 I really appreciate the kind words. It's taken me years and years to commit to making good content for youtube. The response to this video is exactly the fire I needed. Stick around for a bit. The one we're working on now is gonna be a completely different type of "dream build" and totally insane!
This is for bike building and cycle freaks what Ishitani is for woodworkers - watch his videos and you'll find the same mood. No greater praise can be had. :)
This is why the Internet was invented: 1. To show you things you only dreamed before. 2. To make you realize that it still remains a dream! 😉 . 13:24 Is that Threadlocker he applied to the pedal threads? Great video production though. Home equity loan or not!? Hmmm....maybe sell the car?
9.9/10 on this build. Almost a perfect build, but the latex tubes are only for race day; they rip easily, are expensive to replace when punctured, and not ideal for training. This would be a 10/10 build, in my opinion, if you set up those wheels tubeless. Very meticulously build and awesome selection of parts. I like the way you used a grease gun unlike other mechanics are messy with lubricants. Chris King hubs on Zipp wheels? Bad ass! Although I think you’re the first person to do that. Very cool! Why be like everyone else?
Fern Hernandez Oh... just give him a 10/10. He pays dealer/shop cost for latex so the same "normal person" price for rubber. 😂😂😂 I'll pass it along to the builder. The 9.9 will drive him crazy. haha
Ridden both, not worried about the cost of latex tubes, as not being a heavy rider, I prefer the ride feel of latex tubes over butyl. I've done tubeless but too lazy to mess with sealant after working on tubeless MTB wheels/tires all day every day during the summer in the shop. All personal preference so no offense taken. I'm all about grease guns, I hate wasting lubricants and hate getting grease everywhere. No point in greasing my hands if I don't have to.
Just started doing this as a hobby this past year. Love doing it and feeling I get from it. - ready to take on next challenge. Send one my way to make? This bike is sick!

I want to like but then I would destroy the 69 im sorry
Director shoulda told homeboy to cut his nails
Your mama shoulda told you to mind your own
Everything Ballard great video...i am all in for On the left and Gerrrod...great job...
Great to see a quality bike builder on youtube, correct tools, torquing, etc.
Not a bodge/substandard job in sight!
Bet next time he’ll use quality parts like Shimano too!
Unbelievable. And not just the bike. I love the use of a torque wrench on everything...lovely build to watch!
Eric Chen While filming this I learned that due to everything being carbon fiber, using a torque wrench is 100% necessary, and it makes for a nice audible experience as well!
Only bad thing is how to use torque wrench, only one click is needed. Every next Click is kaking the torque more than needed!
@@ertihaava There's enough tolerance in torque specs for an extra few clicks.

Great job you don't see a bike mechanic using all the correct tools and meticulously going through everything! Again nice work!
Hedley Kerr I'll pass on the love to Gerrod! Thank you so much for watching!!! 🙌🏻
Probably the first bike builder to use a paper towel around the stem! Kudos to you kind sir
Damian vA My mechanics needs to watch this video and start using the blue towel.
Trimming them nails wouldn’t hurt either...
It was all perfect until the bottle cages. My eyes started to bleed 😪😪
N Cr Oh come on!! they're titanium! that's still so sick!
...and the unconventional direction of applying the bar tape.
So true. Beautiful bike, terrible cages. Lol
Joel Wainman It's his thing. 😉
1990 retro 😂😂😂
love these videos the backround music makes it more great 👍 🙌 👏

Marcel Dezentjé Thanks for sticking around! You're the man! 👊🏻
So beautiful bike
Matt you did an excellent job
That was therapeutic. Great skill, filming, music, and build.
Excellent build. I have a '17 Foil 10, rim brake, mechanical Dura Ace. This is my dream build!
Great attention to detail, I’d like to see him setting up the wheels up tubeless....
You know we need to hear dem torque wrench clicks, and you gave 'em to us like few others. Many thanks.
What a bike, but especially what skill from the one who mounted it.
im glad you show the bike ride at the end. most youtube bike builds dont show that

The NARRATOR is the BEST.....No need for a Sleeping Pill tonight after watching this Video.....I don't mind the Music to much Either....
this is pure therapy

The whole art of building these are amazing. I never realized how complex bikes were.
Jason1087870 They all aren't this complex. But this bike... this bike right here!... This bike is a whole nother level! 🔥
Bikes are extremely simple its only when you get into suspension it gets complicated
Its not very difficulté
Probably the greatest 19:09 minutes on RUclips right now!
xSTILLxEDGEx Geez! That hit me right in the feels! Thank you so much STILL EDGE!!! 👊🏻
The attention to detail was outstanding!
Based on footage, Gerrod's deft talents will take him to being that master builder he obviously aspires towards!
11:21, the sound we all love to hear.
9:40
Very cool video, rarely do I watch one beginning to end without skipping... weirdly cathartic.
A friend shared this video with me. Great watch! The atmosphere really held my interest.
Props to Gerrod for the rad build!
This might be the closes to a true zen state I have ever come - massive thank you! Amazing video and beautiful bike.
Came here from a gee Milner build... was like holy crap that’s on your left cycles my local bike shop ha ha! Great stuff
That is one amazing bike but more so what a great workshop and craftsmanship. It is great to see artisans doing what they do best. Great job.
The whole video looks like a movie, so cinematic
Excellent camera work, excellent tools, excellent crafstmanship
The cages... really good!
Talk about production quality. This is amazing.
Cinematography like a feature film. Great music, awesome build, so pleasant to watch!! Fantastic work!!
Nice tools, great build ..
Gorgeous build 👏👏
very nicely done video!
Great build, great video. So relaxing. Amazing technology in bikes these days.
rhdy586 thank you! glad you enjoyed!!!
Absolutely beautiful build and video. Thank you for this.
You clearly deserve the views and subscribes for your professionalism.Well recorded, too.

@@EverythingBallard That's the best of news to me,and the other viewers, too.
Truly an amazing build, watching you assemble this bike was a treat.
Matt, one of best vids on RUclips. But should have mentioned cost of labor for the build or at least approximate (give cred to Gerrod).
jktr76 That's including labor 😉. Thanks for looking out for me.
This video is wonderful! Modern bike technologies are really fantastic! Thank you!
STEFAN The pleasure is ours! Thank you for watching! Stoked you like it!
Absolutely phenomenal video...oh and the build was great as well! Only disappointed I didn’t have any popcorn!!!
關門之後組車,才能専心而且擁有好技術,good job。
Great building skills... amazing video, editing, music, etc.
Exact reason why we did it. Also, it was 30°F out and raining when we filmed that part 🤣 Glad you enjoyed it.
Very nice video guys. Always fascinating to watch a master craftsman at work.
Love these videos of high end bike builds. They are hypnotizing!!
This is for bike building and cycle freaks what Ishitani is for woodworkers - watch his videos and you'll find the same mood. No greater praise can be had. :)
Very nicely done video. Gerrod congrats on that awesome new ride.

Always grease on pedal threads
Glad you enjoyed

Matt Ballard I subscribed to the channel so I’ll continue to watch his superb video builds. Tell him to not get butt hurt haha. It’s near perfection!

My latex tube has lasted beyond the life of my front tire, so, yeah, it works great for racing as well as training.
Nice build good tools / workshop is half the job.
Philippine flag on the frame 🤘🙌
Why is there a ph flag on the frame?
@@johnf4378 because pinoy power
That’s the most beautiful video I’ve ever seen on RUclips 🚴🏻♂️❤️
Paweł Lipiec 😘😘😘
Gerrod your an artist man. I want you to build my new dream Merckx!!! This was pure art. Even using latex tubes! Good man!
Can definitely arrange that. May even be able to convince Ballard to film it too. Thanks for the compliments and for watching!
Dude's got some nice tools, and knows how to use them. I'd let him build up my bike. Nice work dude.
IngGuidesLife Thanks
Beautifully done. Love to watch a pro enjoying his craft
this was such a treat to watch. i fully support more of these being made for other bikes!
This guy is working after work... be nice to him!
Bruh, that's was high art. Beautiful.
This was a really pleasant find. I was actually taking a break from working on my old Caad 8. Excellent videography.
Tom Sharkey Glad we could provide a getaway from real life! Thank you for the kind words as well!!! 😍
A serious dream build here! Keep it up Matt. Great videography here. High quality!!
A cyclist and a Guardian!! Great combo!!!
My will is not my own
What are the clicker buttons he installs at 15:07? NOS? I bet it's NOS.
Justin Wilkinson Yep. NOS. 😘 They are additional shifting buttons to allow shifting anywhere he has his hands on the bars.
@@EverythingBallard that's pretty cool!
Justin Wilkinson Gotta go Sanic fast
@@EverythingBallard what model of sprint shifter it is ? Great video
Breathtaking. Straight Up. and I THINK the Titanium cages are neat. they complement the CF color / aesthetic
Great job.Hello from Greece.
So good
Amazing video, excellent craftsmanship by the builder! cheers 👌
More content like this please! ❤️
This guy knows what he is doing...
Crow's feet for the little dinky torque wrench. Very good. Have to get those now too.
Ngaun lang kita napanuod ang galing ng umpisa mo
I wish my car was serviced like this. Torquing everything correctly and not skipping a single step, even those that might not really matter.
very nice job ~

That shop is very nice it is also organize👌
This video is probably the most outstanding example , BTW can you tell me what is this video "2:50" the "Sanding tool" for fork tube? TKS Alt ^_^
Thank you! And yes I can certainly tell you! It is a inner/outer reamer made by Rigid. 👊🏻
@@EverythingBallard
I got it, Thanks !
Extremly nice build. Excep the bottle cages and the pedals. Shimano Pedals on a Sram bike is a nono. I would have gone for the Keo Blade Pedals.
pure satisfaction
wonderful! a quality bike builder Amazing build
Im speechless ❤❤❤
loved this - thank you beautifully done
King TI cages! I prefer the stainless ones but hey :) Best cages out there
Chaim Becker Amen!
Build my own and help others, usually do 1-2 full builds yr, nice work my friend 👍
Legend has it those bottle cages have been passed down for five generations...
Proud pinoy dito boss ☝️💪
veramente molto bravo, COMPLIMENTI!!!!
yeas and a ride att the end! Amazing work.
The subs to view count is a day and night difference...keep up the good work

A maquina mais maravilhosa que o homem já inventou!!
Amazing .. its more complex than I thought .. now I knew why it cost up to $14k ..!!
Technology sure is crazy. Thing is that road bikes are still fairly simple in comparison to mountain bikes. Thanks for watching.
This is so amazing road bike .
Patrick Garcia 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
That is a wonderful machine.
That philippine flag looks good in that bike😍❤️
