"Never killed my wife!" is my new go-to line when describing someone nice
matt killed it
So true. Fax Hun. Js
I watched that part like 5 times, the timing was absolutely perfect
Matt is so much funnier than given credit for
That's how I start most conversations
"I'm not passive agrrrrressive... These are slanders. These are liables..." - Conan 2020😂
libels
purrrr.... purrpurrr... puuuurrrrrrrrrrr
I can hear this and see Sona and that HR's expressions while reading this. 😂
Sona: "And then he goes into these strange voices to avoid a serious conversation"
Conan: "Dis is not true....I disagreeeee!"
🤣 one of favorite moments of his
Conan actually indirectly gave Nikki some of his experience and instructions on how to deal with fear. It's amazing.
He zones out nine times
Also seeds for some new material, perhaps.
Pretty directly
Indirectly? He quite literally DIRECTLY gave advice. Lol. Words have meanings.
"I am not *passive-agressive*!! I disagreeeee!"
"These are slanders, libels! I'm not a passive-aggressive man. I am but a man."
Purr purr…cackaww…cackaww!
"I think I'm always comfortable in any space! Prrr prrr! Coocoo Coocoo!"
Conan is one of the great comedians
😂😂😂😂 I love that video
It is really interesting to hear the insecurities of people who make a living talking to large crowds.
They are in front of large crowds BECAUSE they’re insecure.
@@courtneyawalsh Actually, this might explain why so many comedians talk down on others. Maybe they're insecure about themselves and make themselves feel better by tearing others down.
It’s soooo interesting. Makes them more relatable. At our core, we all have insecurities that we’re trying to overcome
@@courtneyawalsh Talent? I'm insecure and nowhere near large crowds 😅
I agree
It's great Conan met Liza, sometimes you need someone to call you on your BS. It's a great quality to have in a friend and a partner.
Absolutely, I’ve always thought this!
Mmmhm.
Especially people who are famous. Surrounded by yes men & a** kissers.
there always needs to be a chill one to counter the neurotic one
Not sure how many people in Conan’s position are so willing to be open about who they are off the screen and behind the scenes. His openness and the way he allows his staff to dish on him make for great comedy. Love it
And honestly i wouldnt advice everyone to be this open especially in today's culture. Conan has done nd said ALOT of stuff that can easily be misconstrued into a cancelable offence. if sona was a white woman i really cant guarantee that we wouldn't have woken up one day to an accusation on conan for work abuse.
Jay Leno wouldn’t do that
@afro symphony You must be fun at parties
@@jackscott1438 What is this chickenshit response? What's your problem with what afro said?
Conan is secure in himself and his identity so showing who he really is isn’t as scary for him as it is for people with more polished personas who are less secure
“I believe life begins at Hatching” is just too goddamn funny
I love how Conan can swing between very smart and very silly very quickly. He's reciting Stalin's inner circle then he's making silly voices.
So when Conan recites Stalin it's smart but when I do it I'm told to vacate the premises before I'm arrested?
@@pamphletthebeanwolf5901 he didnt recite Stalin. He named his advisors.
@@mapples007 I'll try naming his advisors next time.
@@pamphletthebeanwolf5901 Sir, this is an Arby's.
bc he is a genius
Matt's improv and banter is a gem that I keep looking for in the podcast
Oh god no...how Matt has made it this far in the podcast realm blows my fuxking mind. He sucks
"The truth is mean."
...you can just see Nikki's eyes just light up when he says that, she relates SO HARD to that reprimand. When you meet people who had the same kind inept parental messaging like that it is SO cathartic.
I find it funny because I am the exact opposite, I am SO confrontational, because I had it drilled into me you had to always tell the truth, and not getting in someone's face was dishonest, it is exactly the same as lying.
The other three people trudge through this conversation
"and not getting in someone's face was dishonest, it is exactly the same as lying."
yeah, but then there's ruclips.net/video/N74kUKmzbpo/видео.html
Like everything, it is a balancing act. Some of the worst people I know take great pride in "telling it like it is". If the truth is hurtful and won't help the person then there's no reason to proactively go and hurt them. If they ask, don't lie, but don't go out of your way to let them know what you think just 'cause.
I gotta say, as someone looking to study clinical psychology, it's really refreshing to hear a major celebrity like Conan talk about cognitive behavioral therapy. Its got great empirical support and is much different from what I think most people view therapy as.
2:09-2:31 was beautiful. I’m so glad Conan has Liza in his life as his partner ❤️
"I believe life begins at hatching" is such a fire line.
It's interesting to hear Conan be so nakedly honest. As much as I enjoy him as a comedian and host, he always struck me as someone who has a difficult time being genuine. I guess that impression was somewhat true, and I'm glad he's working on himself.
Rare & refreshing. More like this, please. 🙏🏼
Definitely. Conan has opened up a lot and become public about his insecurities and struggles, and he’s been a big advocate for therapy and addressing mental health.
This is not true!! He is always comfortable in any space! Cuckoo, cuckoo, purrrr, purrrr, purrrr.
It’s from growing up in a house where you are NEVER allowed to talk back- or truthfully answer a question if it’s mean- and you grow up to be a gossip, talking behind peoples’ backs
Truth isn’t gossip.
@@courtneyawalsh I was speaking of my own experiences. I don’t find much truth in gossip.
Nope but keep justifying being a gossip
@@seltonk5136 whooosh
I absolutely love Conan’s advice on cognitive therapy. I plan to use his tips on writing down your fears to look at them twenty minutes later… listened to this for the laughs, ended up getting a bit teary because I get the negative thoughts.
I was constantly bullied and called ugly and it actually made it easier to confront bullies that were mean to defenseless kids I had nothing to lose
When she said "All the cows you eat are Hitler", I was sure he was going to turn it around and say they are actually "Moossolini". My dad humor quota was not met today.
Cow Tse Tung
To the point where you'd project it onto Conan. (......... Heinrich Himburger.)
Well, Conan is in the business of comedy...and every comedian knows that puns are where comedy goes to die 😛
And free-"ranch" salads...
mmm moistcow.
I apologize, I took it too far.
The Conan show - a one stop shop for chuckles and cognitive behavioral therapy.
He’s right about writing things down forreal, even for panic attacks
These two always know how to make someone laugh
Show someone this video. If they chuckle at her I'lll give you a smooch kiss 💋
It's amazing how pervasive these negative thoughts are in so many people, even (or especially?) those who are successful.
Maybe it's more so the fame than success. Imagine being constantly analyzed and judged by millions of people, I too would get in my head about it and have fears and anxieties.
Most neurotic people on the planet.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this side of Nikki Glazer before, and I’m here for it.
I, uhh... I think I like every side of Nikki Glaser I've ever seen.
I really needed to hear what Conan said about growing up in a household where being honest was considered being mean. I totally grew up that way .
Yes! Just do as your told was how it was in my family. We weren't allowed our own opinions especially the women of my culture
Not just hilarious but actually also really helpful!
I've saved this video for future reference
Me too
She'd make a face at you and walk away
I love Conan so much! I was trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I also think it's great. It's talking it out and thinking "what's the worst..." It's usually not a huge deal and if there's something that you can actively change to avoid a fear that might actually happen/be problematic...then at least you have some ways to work it out.
hey there fan of conan - ive been on antidepressants since me and my ex fiance of 3 years split about 7 months ago. some days are okay and some days I feel particularly dreadful. would you care to share any tips on helping with these kinds of feelings?
That "Never killed my wife" line is comedy gold.
this actually got kinda deep. i got a little emotional, i can relate a lot to theyre mental problems
Nikki’s voice is so good for podcasts
Her face is good for audio only podcasts
Poor Conan can't even feign interesti
"You ate the last cupcake", the squeaky, ultimately failing voice he said that in - incredibly hilarious!
What Conan is saying about cognitive therapy, is where journaling really helps me. I have "severe combined type ADHD", and as with most things, am sporadic at journaling, but in the times I can keep up with it, looking back at my journal is always an enlightening moment at how much of an idiot I really am. I use Obsidian to keep notes and just loosely write things down as I sit on my computer when they come to my mind. I use horizontal line breaks, backlinks, and # tags to add order to my chaotic ADHD brain.
That's interesting. Do you notice any narratives or recurring themes?
was a Certified "Glaser" Classic
The relatability of this clip has me asking myself.... _"am I Conan O'Brien?"_
Very Irish Catholic relatable for sure.
My biggest fear is being told that I'm Ugly. Fear of conflict, fear of abandonment, wanting to be nothing sort of perfection,self-loathing......I relate to all these things, especially the ugly part. Because I have never talked about that stuff to anyone ever. I feel some solace, take some comfort from this video
I can't believe anyone says to Nikki "You are Ugly". It's incredible.
Amazing conversation folks! I enjoyed every moment.
Sona’s laugh when nikki says how she knows she right about being vegan 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The comment about Irish people is so true. My family always reverts to passive aggressive “jokes” that hint at the problem, instead of being direct to people.
You say "keeping score", I say "collecting data"...
Fun sitdown on how vulnerable we can all be and how discretion is needed more for whatever reason.
Liberty absolutely love ❤️ you and I know that you must be blessed with your beautiful family and my wonderful Wife for Life and blessed love ❤️ you and Forever ♾ is the deal!!!
watching Conan is my form of therapy. so good
This was one of the funniest episodes. This and Paul Rudd's had me crying while driving haha
5:40
I learned this in my public speaking class.
You write the last of your fears then go down the list and say why it's not actually a valid fear.
I appreciate this chat. As someone who has very similar anxious tendencies to Nikki
0:06 I mean...did she not watch the documentary on Conan's live tour after The Tonight Show (Conan O'Brien Can't Stop)? I think that's about the best insight you can get on that, it was pretty intense, really. And he he never stopped trying to entertain anyone who was open to it lol, even when he also would complain how exhausted he was. Just extraordinary, a true "funny machine". My favorite part of those burn-out moments was when he got Sona to laugh over him powdering his face for (yet another) live show: "Oh sweet powder! Protect my skin!"
That scene with the powder lives rent-free in my head. That was a great documentary.
Life begins at hatching. 😂
Good session with the team and Nikki.
this was therapeutic, thanks conan
Such a fascinating joy listening to this conversation! Conan. There’s really nothing quite like him ♥️
Emotional trauma... My favorite part of the podcast.
As someone who fears actually communicating with people, this is a good therapy session....I think you've found your second career Conan :)
This was a great interview and video👍
Niki is a good listener and interviewer
Definitely, you can tell she can bounce the conversation around and keep it going.
this is so spot on for so many people.
the fear of confrontation is not confrontation itself but how it will escalate into our perceived demons and traumas.
also, and this is a major also, if we are discussing point A shut the F about anything else, you have been getting your turn over and over, so much so you're now in speaking up debt, so listen for once, be a Person and admit for bloody once too you're wrong Without bringing up every other impertinent thing from the past which has NOTHING to do with the argument at hand except to falsely give you some leverage and to put the other person down when YOU are now at fault. Suck it up, brave it out, and say SORRY.
Scrolling through the comments not finding anything about it makes me think only Sona and myself got the fantastic hatchling comment. That was so smooth, besides the whole segment was a joy to watch
The set up for the life begins at hatching is so organic its incredible
This was nice to watch. And therapeutic.
"I believe that life begins at hatching" 😅
7:38 Sona's reaction means she is a certified meat lover lol
great clip
insightful and funny
this was great. 😂😂😂I like these helpful tips
nothing cures my anxiety like conan.
thank you straight to the point
Peak Conan. I love Conan more now than the TV years.
Conan, I just had an appendectomy. I literally almost burst out laughing.
Great conversation
when I was little I thought you were just supposed to say what youre thinking all of the time to everyone so id just walk up to someone I never met before and be like wow your head is a lot shorter and wider than mine and then be like what's their deal
Lol
What a deep one!
Nikki Glasser saying she is afraid of being called ugly is like an anorexic thinking they're fat, like noooooo, not remotely, but I get the reality, and feel for her.
I loved this "episode" so much!!
Watching this is better for me than most therapy sessions.
Wow this is great, are the podcasts like this?
I should've known Conan has done Cognitive Behavioral Therapy!!! Wow that's so cool, I've done that too. I recommend it to everyone. It really helps with intrusive thoughts!!
Love this one! 💚
Conan the therapist at 6.00 and it’s actually quite helpful. Thanks therapist Conan!
Glad to hear mentions of CBT.
Hyper Vigilance to protect oneself from similar acts to past trauma.
5:45 great advice
I can’t imagine how hard a famous female comic must be on herself, that is a lot of pressure, that societal pressure to be physically attractive yet be entertaining and take negative perspectives on yourself to make people laugh. I don’t know I’m thinking too much, love these dudes
My god. Can’t imagine living life this way. Guess this is what makes great comedians.
Conan and Nikki=2 of my faves!!!
Nikki asking questions like a TV therapist.
this is just the best podcast in the world!
Your opinions are beautiful
Letterman, Carson, Leno, Colbert…all these guys are extremely passive aggressive and the way it manifests in how they run/ran their shows and deal with hosts is interesting
I really love nikki. She is so real.
Go listen to her talk about wanting her bf to sleep around on her. She’s a looney bin. And yez, it takes one to know one yeet
Is there some kind of video subscription option I've missed? Will the SXM channel have video if you record there, like Stern? 👀 If not... pretty please?
This is the only part of the internet that makes any sense
Conan should have gotten that late night host slot. We’ll never know what could have been.
The notepad thing is awesome
That 5th grade kid who called Nikki ugly was lying through his or her teeth.
I think there is a little more history behind it. I remember her saying on another podcast that her sister was extremely pretty, and she was openly portrayed by family and others as the not pretty sister. So the 5th grade insult probably fanned a flame that was already burning pretty hot for her with regard to her self-esteem.
The master of passive aggression at work
Thanks for the free therapy session!
“Never killed my wife”😂😂😂
Lol. Funny stuff
This was a good therapy session
Conan never killed my wife 🤷
he'll get around to it sooner or later
Not yet
The truth is a beautiful thing
7:52 whomever told you those Henry Kissinger glasses work for you..they lied.
I’ve been watching a lot of these - I can tell they had a previous audio system and maybe engineer🎉
