  • arcadeheroes.com - For today's arcade operator perspective, I get into something that generally makes operators groan - fixing broken down machines. Having operated an arcade business, @Arcade Galactic for the past 14 years and with some background in IT, here is some of what I have had to deal with. I also get into the costs behind it, although that is a difficult question to answer.
RESOURCES - As mentioned in the video, there are a number of companies that deal with arcade repairs and tech help. Here are the links:

The markup for some of those parts is ridiculous! Thanks for the insight with this one.

you can get those wires out at 21:40. look for a molex depin tool/terminal pin extractor. they are about 5 bucks. it will let you take the pins out of the connector and clip them back in.

Thanks again for the peek behind the curtain! I find the biggest problem I have with replacing connectors is knowing what they are called so I can google them 😂 Also there is always this one tool that makes doing a thing so much easier, and half the time you don't know it exists and the other half of the time you don't know what it's called or how much to spend on it to get one that works.

Good video, especially the parts about the price gouging!

If it's out of order, it's off the floor.
Long as the customer doesn't see it, he doesn't have a negative point to stand on.

That's doable - when you have the space. But unfortunately one doesn't always have that luxury (my bball for example is not something I have a place to move it elsewhere)

I grace my steel building with 34 machines. I spend 75 hours a month repairing them all. Not once can I say that everyone worked in sync. Always three or more down that's my record low. I ran individual conduit circuits with on off breakers to each individually and it helps out so much when alot of the time a power cycle does the trick

You could take pictures of each wiring harness (if you don't have a wiring diagram) and then remove each pin from the connectors, slide the wires through the broken tube then repin the connectors

You all were hereos before in my eyes for previewing the arcade games coming onto the market and I could ask my gf what she would want to play. I am finding these videos even more interesting!

I saw you have / had a Taito chase 2, I bought one of these and am desperately seeking a manual or copy of a manual or service manual, not sure if you can help but will pay, I’m serious, I have the game now and steering wheel feedback has an issue, love the game if you can help, thanks

I would get into arcade repairs as i am pretty good around Computers and some older systems,
But arcades in the UK.... Almost don't exist anymore, it's all gambling now

It is sad to hear, although I've been reporting on a few chains popping up around the UK as of late - NQ64 Arcade Bars, Arcade Club, the seaside arcades...but yeah, the temptation for gambling games is probably too strong for many to resist
