Thank you, I've been looking to start prone for a while... Had no clue where to start when it comes to gear. This video helped loads. 🙏 just a question for you guys, you mention the size of board corresponding to weight. What about height does that matter? Im 183cm by the by🤙🏾
Body Height can play a part in choosing the best foil board size while volume / weight ratio is important. Generally riders will choose a board size shorter than their actual height depending on surf background, but board length is personal preference these days with some choosing longer than their height and others pushing the short size limit- best to try a few options to see what suits your style the best -- enjoy.
So it is the opposite of my thoughts???? In winging I was thinking that considering board flat shim mast plate rising the back will increase wing angle of attack increasing front foot pressure... big confusion maybe better use tail shim 😀
It is a very interesting aspect to shimming a foil set up. What we have found over years of testing different angles of attack, is when you shim the front of your mast base plate to rise up off your board it gives more front foot pressure as it increases the nose rocker of your board. If you shim the back of your mast base plate it decreases the nose rocker of your board and so gives you less front foot pressure.
Yes it is helpful to have slightly more lift when jumping and doing freestyle, this is because when you building speed and approaching a jump it is good to be leaning forward. More lift also helps with the 'pop' of the foil on lift off. But too much lift makes the landing difficult to ride out of, it really is a matter of personal preference.
This is epic fam! Keep it coming🙌
Thanks! Will do!

For jumping and freestyle, would you shim for more lift?
