The cast was fine. She brought high energy and connected with the audience. No issue there. The problems were the flat writing, relying on the tricks of the stage, (which felt like the real main character) and the less than exciting choreography.
@@Momdrogynous I wanted to like the leads but in one of the beginning scenes, they are robbing people of their valuables. And, they behave like entitled hoodlums. People were cheering for them. That was difficult to understand.
the show is amazing ... you need to watch it from the 10th row up .. 1st row you can't apreciate the visuals on the stage. much better than the old water show they had
the show was fucking fantastic! great family show too, can definitely bring the kids. cannot wait to go back with my friends to see it again. I give it a 10/10
Great review, its a concert format with no star behind it. Weak story, beautiful moments. All very confusing to our group. We watched the audience struggle not knowing when to clap, or why something happened.
I don’t think there is a bad seat because the stage rotates as the show goes on. So the cast faces every section at some part throughout the night. I was in the third row and my view was good. I think you’ll be okay with any seat. Hope that helps. 🤍
@@Momdrogynous There are only 12 rows. The most expensive seats are the last few rows. I would try to sit as far back as you can afford. Normally, I like sitting up close. For this show, try not to sit too close. In the end, any seat will be fine.
Thank you for this. Wonder if you saw La Reve and what you would have given that. The Cirque stuff starts to blend all together. Dark Light Good Bad Heaven Hell - Dairy and Non-Dairy.
I agree with your review. I was impressed by the show from a costume and technical standpoint. Especially the stage. That part is spectacular. Beyond that, there was only a little to love. It was like a half-time Super Bowl show that lasted for one hour and 47 minutes. During that week (Thanksgiving 2022), I also saw "O," and I loved it. Mad Apple is fun and has potential. It still needs a little work, but I enjoyed it. Consider if it's well-priced, especially since it runs on Mondays and Tuesdays when many shows are dark. Don't overlook it. The show Opium was re-written recently, and it was solid. The theater is so intimate and very small. The show can do many things that would never work in a bigger room. On a previous trip, I also enjoyed Atomic Saloon and Absinthe. Consider Opium if you like a smaller cabaret burlesque show. I loved it. Rouge was raunchy, sexy, and fun. The performers are solid. For that style/type of Vegas sexy show, they are doing a great job. The format is more of a classic Vegas review. It's well-performed. And the performers are so good-looking. It's a well priced show. Awakening was spectacular, but in the end, it fell flat for me.
I agree, “O” is such a special show! I would recommend that one any day! Mad Hatter looks underwhelming from the previews, don’t think I’ll waste my time there. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Oh wow! That’s unfortunate. 😬 Maybe If they revise the writing they can save it. If they do shutdown, indefinitely, hopefully the cast and crew can be apart of the next production that follows. 🫶🏽 Were you able to see it?
@@Momdrogynous I have. The story is mostly the same with Darkness and Light and needing to find the three crystals to restore him, but some big details were reworked: The story now starts off in the Fire Tribe and IO is now from that Tribe where she's a reluctant hero chosen for the quest and her sidekicks, Bandit and Boo are chosen to go along with her to help her. They are now played by a girl and guy and serve more as comic reliefs clowns for the show. The trio being a gang of theives is scrapped. A fire dancer act is also featured in this scene. After that, it continues as normal where they head to the Darkness ball and retrieve the red orb to be able to travel to the different realms. Water's mostly the same. The Earth realm now starts with an act where girl nymphs are doing bouncing beam tricks, then it continues as normal where they're captured but escape. Boo is not captured in this version. Air has the biggest change where after they get the Earth crystal, two aerialists descend from the top and do an act together before transitioning IO to the air realm. Now the air realm is a fun, Indian/Arab/Egyptian style Bollywood dance number where they try to hypnotize IO into joining their cult forever. The sexual vibe from the original show is toned down a lot in comparison. After IO breaks free and retrieves the final crystal, she learns she is in fact the daughter of Light and Darkness which is why she was chosen for the quest. From there it continues as normal and the family is reunited. There's elements I like from the original show, but I think I like the new one better. It's not perfect, but has more to offer and is more tight knit. Hope this helps!
@@Momdrogynous Nah only saw the version they had in January 2024. If they revamp it yet again, I don’t intend to see it. This show was just terrible that I’d never want to watch even a re-tooling of it. I’m amazed there are so many positive reviews of a show that’s mediocre at best
You threw ALOT OF SHADE. This show was beautiful! There are wonderful acrobatics. The lights are very artistic and bigger than life! The water scene is just beautiful. I can see what you looking for bc you liked the air scene the best!
You’re hilarious. I laughed so hard at the YMCA comment. They’re reopening the new version of the show June 30. Not sure if I should go…
Just a quick correction, Le Reve which Awakening replaced was not a Cirque Du Soleil show.
Correct. However Le Reve's producer & director was an ex-Cirque Du Soleil producer Franco Dragone, and he created the original "O".
These performers have worked extremely hard to make this show a beautiful success, give them credit 👏
I loved it.
My sister in law was the lead female with red hair ☺️ what was your opinion on her performance??

Looks like you sat too close to enjoy it.
Le Rêve, the show before Awakening, was not from Cirque du Soleil either.
You’re right. I stand corrected.

Thank you for sharing. I Didn’t see La Reve. This show felt like it aspired to be on par with Cirque but completely lacked that je ne se quoi.
