“You should not be talking to each other! You should both be talking to your audience!” Love it! Thank you for your clear teaching and fun tips, Bernadette! Teach on!💜🥰💜
I’m not a beginner but I am self taught so I’m watching this course for some fundamentals I think I have missed. This proved necessary tonight. When you showed the correct angle to hold it I realised I hold it too low, and then questioned if that is what I have always struggled with barre chords. I tried a few and In the proper position I have no trouble barring. So thank you for helping :)
Thank you for doing this! My son has been trying to learn how to play the guitar for a while and didn’t know where to start. I kept encouraging him to try to find a tutorial to help him, because that’s how I learned how to play the ukulele. From you! I’m excited to show him this! 💖
Yeah…yeah…yeah…Learning to play ukulele from you has really allowed my hands more movement and is helping me with Angelica the Great❣️Thank you soooo much🤗
What great videos as always Bernadette. I bought a guitar about 15 years ago but it’s been in the loft for about 14.9 years… Bought a ukulele a couple of years ago to play to my newborn son and now that I’m fairly proficient on that (with your help), and since I’ve got the guitar out so my father in law can play it, I thought I’d better have a go! (Not least because my son calls my guitar “Grandad’s guitar”!!! P.S. The way you pronounced “envelope” the first time was the correct way, in this context.
The fretting hand wrist is a constant struggle for beginners. A tip I picked up from an Adam Neely video is that for some people pointing the thumb towards the headstock rather than across the neck will help straighten it.
First. After a long time :D Using a footstool and resting the guitar on the left leg has another advantage. It is the exact position we would be holding the guitar when we play standing up :)
Bernadette, thank you so much for this musical journey. I picked up the ukulele a little over a year ago - I've always wanted to play a musical instrument and this just seemed like the time! I really love it and I practice every single day. And I've got most of my family playing ukulele now! Now I'm going to try the guitar challenge also. Gasp! I don't know if it can ever replace my love for the ukulele, but I'm going to give it a try. So excited for this challenge. I think my husband is going to follow the challenge also. And I'm trying to talk my friend, who used to play the guitar, to follow along with me. I am so loving this musical stage of my life and I have you to thank for it. So thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
Aah! I was waiting for the positioning tips from you. I have muscle spasms on the right lower and mid back almost always and it gets really bad after I play the guitar for +5mins. Elevating the leg helps indeed. I naturally tend to rest the guitar on my right leg (right hand is my strumming hand). I'll play around more to see if setting it on the left leg feels better.
First, thank you!! But I have a question: what to do with my right leg when positioning the guitar on my left leg? Even when I‘m putting it away in some weird angle to make place for the body of the instrument, I‘m still not able to get the guitar really close to my body because the leg is still in the way. The only things I can do while having the guitar close to my body is to put the neck either lower or bring it closer to my shoulder so that the other end of the guitar is tilted somewhat far away from me
Melina, would you join our Guitarlandia Facebook group? I’d like to be able to see your positioning to help you adjust :) It’s a private group, so submit a request to join so I can approve it ❤️

Hello Bernadette, maybe it's just me but the sound is not very good. I can hardly hear you and the sound of my computer is at maximum. This second video comes out a bit better than the first which I couldn't hear a thing. So, can you do something at your end so that the sound is better? Would love to follow this guitar course with you but won't be able to if the sound doesn't get better. Please see at your end what you can do, thank you!
Hi Bolduc! I hired a professional audio editor for this series and we tested the audio on multiple sources as well as with/without headphones before publishing. I also haven’t heard anyone else have trouble with audio. Have you tried to use headphones? Or if you’re using headphones have you tried without them?
Hi Mrs B! I can't get my guitar to fit! Can you show a video with more of your body in it? I'm playing right handed but my natural inclination is to lift my right leg so the waist of the guitar sits on it. I don't think that's what you want..! No pain yet, but I haven't started yet 😂

Look at the end of the last uke lesson B moves back so you can see the position better
Can you tell us where to buy your fun earrings?
I sometimes lie on my bed with my guitar on my stomach, with my eyes closed and I attempt to make some musical sounds, but it's really difficult.
Que guapa!!
Thank you so much
