actually really interesting video!!! you are one of the only thoosies that doesnt have hour long videos but also arent clickbaity, very fun and i will be forcing at least 2 people to watch it
I think the thing with Alton Towers' ride availability that caused people to say how bad it is was that there were some days when pretty much all of the main rides were down at the same time which shouldn't be regularly happening at the UK's no.1 park...
Yeah there were a few days where rides had 40-50% downtime on the same day, at the same time, quite a few where 4 or 5 of their coasters were open 100% of the day. It kinda found a weird balance in the end
Ahhh yeah a lot of the towers rides are quite wind sensitive I've heard, also it seems like it's quite common for the entirety of dark forest to go down sometimes??
would love to make this yearly! would be up to use data from previous years if I can automate the data collection, it took a very long time just to make this one!
Intersting stats - v. enjoyable. Thx. As you have the figures - If you ignore the 'false start' immediately after opening day for Hyperia, and just look at it's operating reliability after they re-opened it, how does it fare then? Could you make those figures available for us number-nerds? {I accept that the two subsequent valley events should be included, but the initial closure is really them just opening it (slightly) before it's ready.} Anyway - great work there and thatnks for the stats!!
Great question!! So I've reworked it to imagine that Hyperia opened on June 12th (the day it reopened after the first bit of downtime) and Hyperia's downtime% dropped to 18.573%, which would've put it 10th on this list. Main parts of downtime now were the valleys, but crazy to see how the early open affected it!
Thanks - that is awesome. It does make a HUGE difference once you take out those 'teething problems' and puts it up into the top 10. Really appreicate all the hard work it must've taken to get the number in the first place. Cheers.
2 bits of admin: - Ranking is done based off DOWNTIME%, don't actually think I mentioned that - I say the wrong percentage for saw, the one written on screen is the correct one
Very interesting video. Im very surprised galactica isn't more unreliable, every time i go to Alton Towers its always down for a big portion of the day 😂
I know this is got basically nothing to do with this but on the final day of the alton towers 2024 season I was about to get on nemesis reborn front row and it broke down after they fixed it and had a ride on it i went to galactica and got front row and it broke down 😂
Hyperias downtime is skewed because it wasn't open for a large portion of the year and it had that period when it had to shut down for a few weeks because of the lift motor or something. Next year it will provide better results. Hopefully
I'm probably gonna run this back next year to see the differences because hyperia REALLY got stunted by the opening month issues, wouldn't have been top 10 if not for them
I think it was a little piece at the top of the lift hill. Something to do with releasing the train from the lift (again, I think) that had too much stress on it as the train started going down the drop. Mack/TP replaced it with a better piece as well as slowing down the lift hill so the trains wouldn't release so quickly
People still go to UK parks? It's cheaper to fly to Poland and have a day out in Energylandia..... I just go there now as I live so close to an airport and a plane return is much much cheaper than a train in the UK.
@@CalVickers33 It's still cheaper for the plane, you can get return tickets for way cheaper than petrol. Can easily hop on a plane and go there with nothing but your phone and passport lol. Obviously considering I live near an Airport it makes that possible, if you have to drive hours to one it stops that.
Beyond Zadra and Hyperion, what else is great at Energylandia? I'm hoping to go at some point this year and would love to know what else to look forward to as the main things I hear about are those 2 coasters!

haha thank you very much! I try to keep my videos at a manageable level, I don't have the attention span to edit for longer than that!
This is a super interesting and well put together video, great stuff!!
Thank you very much!! :)

@@CalVickers33 my first visit of '23 was like that, it was one of the Alton After Dark days and nothing was open, largely bc of high winds.
Ahhh yeah a lot of the towers rides are quite wind sensitive I've heard, also it seems like it's quite common for the entirety of dark forest to go down sometimes??
I've been to both, but Thorpe now has the best Theme park title.
Just discovered your channel and was scrolling my phone will listening. PUP outro made me pay attention. Fuck yeah
Very interesting, be sure to do this next year too! And maybe use data from previous years to look at overall trends?

UK parks are an easier day out than having to fly somewhere for a lot of people! Driving does definitely make it easier for places like Towers though
